Opinions on Zuly?

What do you think about the name [name_f]Zuly[/name_f]? Nameberry says its an Arabic name meaning “healthy, vigorous”. What are some names that are similar in style/possible middles? I have [name_f]Zuly[/name_f] [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f] and [name_f]Zuly[/name_f] [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f] already, but looking for more ideas.

Thank you! :slight_smile:

I like it, but I think I prefer the name [name_f]Zula[/name_f] and call her [name_f]Zuly[/name_f] as a nickname.

Not sure about this in an English-speaking context. It’s pretty if people get the “u” right but otherwise could be a bit gooly, zooly (associative swift the zoo etc). But, not sure how likely this is?

I think a long and soft middle works, like [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f]. If shorter then needs a consonant start, imo. [name_f]Zuly[/name_f] [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f] made me think “truly, I feel ya” so maybe not!?

I like [name_f]Zuly[/name_f]. [name_f]Zuly[/name_f] [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f] is my favorite, it’s lovely!

Thank you for the replies!

@eloiset: Sorry, but I’m not sure what you mean by the “u” pronunciation? I’ve been pronouncing it as ‘zoo-lee’, which I thought was standard. Is there a different way to pronounce it? Also you’re right about the consonant - [name_f]Zuly[/name_f] [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f] does kind of run together.

I think [name_f]Zuly[/name_f] sounds cute! Though it could get mistaken for [name_u]Julie[/name_u] a lot so I’d probably use it as a nickname (to [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] or a Z name with an L middle name like [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f])
I prefer [name_f]Zuly[/name_f] [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f]. Since [name_f]Zuly[/name_f] is so out-there I wouldn’t use something as unique as [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f].

[name_m]Just[/name_m] seeing this. I think [name_f]Zuly[/name_f] is almost more like Ziu-ly than Zoooo-ly. In front of mouth/lips, not back. But if you say zoo like that anyway, all OK!

@emmievis: [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] is very pretty! Thanks :slight_smile:
@eloiset: I tried pronouncing it that way, and it sounded a bit like a french name, interestingly lol thank you!
