So I finally have come down to my final list for my baby girl due on [name]September[/name] 2nd. I would love to know what you guys think of all of the names I have chosen.
I am hoping to cut at least half of my list.
[name]Aurora[/name] (worried about popularity- also don’t like any of [name]Aurora[/name]'s nicknames)
[name]Lilja[/name] (pronounced Leel-ya) (honors both my Icelandic heritage and my great grandmother [name]Lillian[/name])
[name]Eugenie[/name] (pronounced yoo-zhay-nee) (honors my paternal grandfather [name]Eugene[/name] who I am very close with)
[name]Ondine[/name]
[name]Oona[/name] (not sure if it will age well)
[name]Roisin[/name] (pronounced [name]Ro[/name]-sheen) (just don’t want her being called raisin…)
[name]Raphaela[/name]
[name]Ione[/name] (pronounced eye-own-ee) (same as [name]Oona[/name])
Personally, I would go with [name]Ondine[/name], [name]Ione[/name] or [name]Oona[/name]. [name]Lilja[/name], [name]Roisin[/name], and [name]Eugenie[/name] are all beautiful names, but I can only seen spelling/pronunciation issues. [name]Aurora[/name] and [name]Raphaela[/name] are nice, but a bit too flowery for me.
[name]Lilja[/name] and [name]Roisin[/name] are my personal favorites out of the names you’ve listed, I like [name]Oona[/name] but spelt ‘[name]Una[/name]’, I think it looks cleaner!
[name]Lilja[/name], [name]Eugenie[/name] and [name]Roisin[/name] are my favourites. I quite like [name]Aurora[/name] as well, and [name]Ione[/name], but I tend to prn [name]Ione[/name] as YOWN-eh.
I like [name]Aurora[/name] and [name]Raphaela[/name], but they’re flowery. I like [name]Roisin[/name] and [name]Ione[/name] but both could be a bit challenging pronunciation-wise. They feel more tailored than the first two, but still very female, and that’s sort of a nice balance.
[name]Aurora[/name] [name]Roisin[/name] would be a really pretty first/middle combo and it being in the middle would make [name]Roisin[/name] less often mauled.
I like [name]Lillian[/name] more than [name]Lilja[/name], honestly.
[name]Eugenie[/name] is the sort of name I’d never use myself but could admire on someone else.
What kiskadee said. Except I like [name]Aurora[/name] and [name]Raphaela[/name] more, but, if you don’t like [name]Aurora[/name]'s nicknames, I think you can let it go. [name]Raphaela[/name] might get spelling issues too, but maybe not like [name]Lilja[/name] or [name]Eugenie[/name] or [name]Roisin[/name] - do you like its nicknames?
[name]Love[/name] [name]Oona[/name] (prefer this spelling) and think it would age fine. [name]Ione[/name] too. These names, and [name]Ondine[/name], aren’t without their spelling issues too, but a little less than your others.
[name]Lilja[/name] seems so meaningful to you…would you consider [name]Lillia[/name] which is pronounced the same but a little more intuitive in English? or [name]Lillian[/name] nn [name]Lilja[/name] or [name]Lillia[/name]? I think [name]Lillian[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name] is beautiful and nn [name]Lilja[/name] from it is particularly intuitive.
I could see [name]Oona[/name] as an [name]Ondine[/name] nn too. [name]Ondine[/name] [name]Aurora[/name] is beautiful.
[name]Aurora[/name]- I like [name]Aurora[/name] but I find it hard to say
[name]Lilja[/name]- It sounds very pretty but it will have pronunciation issues
[name]Eugenie[/name]- My absolute favorite of your list! It’s very feminine and would age well!
[name]Ondine[/name]- I prefer it as a middle name
[name]Oona[/name]- to me it sounds like [name]Luna[/name] with the L cut off (not in a good way)
[name]Roisin[/name]- of all of your names this one would have the most pronunciation/spelling issues
[name]Raphaela[/name]- I’m not a big fan but it’s ok
[name]Ione[/name]- love it!
My favorites are: [name]Eugenie[/name], [name]Ione[/name] and [name]Lilja[/name]!
I like [name]Aurora[/name] & [name]Lilja[/name] the best, especially [name]Lilja[/name] since it has a cultural connection, family connection and is cute yet would age well too. I like the idea of naming someone after someone else but changing the name so that it’s unique at the same time.
I’ve never heard the names [name]Ondine[/name], [name]Oona[/name], [name]Roisin[/name], or [name]Ione[/name]. I suspect your daughter would have pronunciation & spelling issues throughout her life.
[name]Eugenie[/name] & [name]Raphaela[/name] aren’t my style… but there’s a [name]Eugenie[/name] that just won the [name]Junior[/name] World tennis championship from Montreal. Maybe that’s a good omen.
[name]Aurora[/name] – I love it, but i’m worried that some people have a hard time saying it
[name]Lilja[/name] – [name]LOVE[/name] I think this is gorgeous
[name]Eugenie[/name] – cute, but you’ll have a lot of problems with the pronunciation
[name]Ondine[/name] – I sort of like it
[name]Oona[/name] – [name]Love[/name] love love! Very pretty
[name]Roisin[/name] – I like the sound not the pronunciation problems
[name]Raphaela[/name] – I’ve never really liked this one
[name]Ione[/name] – when pronounced the correct Greek way, it’s said ee-oh-nee. I like it when it’s pronounced properly and I think it ages fine^_^
