Opinions please :)?

I am currently pregnant for number 2. We have a son named [name]Luther[/name] [name]Wolf[/name] and we are hoping for a little girl this time around. Here are some of my girl names that hubby and I like. Please feel free to give us your opinion. I am not worried about how my sibset sounds so anything goes.

Allaina (my hubby is named Allain)

[name]Rowan[/name] (I know most prefer it for a boy, but the first time I heard it was on a girl and it will forever be a girl’s name in my mind.)

[name]Elowen[/name] (Sad to see it more and more on this site, hoping it never becomes popular.)

[name]Lacy[/name] (Too short and plain?)

[name]Cordelia[/name] (Loved this name since I was a teenager, can’t seem to let it go even though hubby isn’t a huge fan.)

[name]Andromeda[/name] (A little too out there?)

For a middle name we were thinking [name]Sparrow[/name], [name]Phoenix[/name] or [name]Raven[/name].

Thanks!

You’ve got a nice list of names!

Allaina (my hubby is named Allain) – This seems too similar to your husband’s name for use as a first.

[name]Rowan[/name] – I like [name]Rowena[/name] better for a girl b/c it sounds more feminine.

[name]Elowen[/name] – Really pretty! For some reason, I can’t picture it ever being super-popular. I think it’s a great choice!

[name]Lacy[/name] – I don’t think it is too short or plain. I think it is very pretty and sophisticated.

[name]Cordelia[/name] – I just can’t picture it on a baby or child.

[name]Andromeda[/name] (A little too out there?) – Yes, it’s a little too out there. For my taste anyway.

I like [name]Elowen[/name] [name]Sparrow[/name] or [name]Lacy[/name] [name]Wren[/name].

For a middle name we were thinking [name]Sparrow[/name], [name]Phoenix[/name] or [name]Raven[/name].

I adore [name]Cordelia[/name], it was on my own list until my SO vetoed it. [name]Luther[/name] and [name]Cordelia[/name] go well together, and there are so many nn options, [name]Cordy[/name] or [name]Dee[/name] or [name]Lia[/name].

Allaina- nms. [name]Don[/name]'t care for it.

[name]Rowan[/name]- I like this one. It’s probably one of the only unisex names I don’t mind on either gender. It has a soothing quality to it.

[name]Elowen[/name]- My favorite out of the group. I think it’s very pretty. Reminds me of [name]Eowyn[/name] from LoTR. It has a beautiful sound to it.

[name]Lacy[/name]- I like it. Nothing bad to say about it.

[name]Cordelia[/name]- I’ve never liked this name, but I think I’m in the minority. It sounds harsh to me.

[name]Andromeda[/name]- Too out there for me.

Allaina - I think it’s ok. It seems very popular where I am (with various spellings). I think that with a more uncommonly named brother that this might be a little plain, but there’s nothing wrong with it. I think tribute names are nice but I think you’ll find that both people start to respond or react when you say their name…just a tad too similar for the same roof imo.

[name]Rowan[/name] - I do prefer this on a boy, but I can appreciate it on either. I think the imagery is nice. I’m not awed by it though.

[name]Elowen[/name] - I love this name, although it seems the intuitive pronunciation is actually not the same as the Welsh (different emphasis). But I know a woman who has a young daughter named this. I think it’s gorgeous and has lots of good nn potential if you choose to go that route. I can see it on a variety of girls/women, and again I think the meaning/imagery is nice. While it’s been popping up more and more on this site, I haven’t heard it out in the “real world” beyond the one previously mentioned woman I know.

[name]Lacy[/name] - It’s ok. Like Allaina I do think it’s relatively plain compared to your son’s name, but there’s nothing wrong with it. Although I do think [name]Lacy[/name]/[name]Lacey[/name] has some interesting connotations to permanently attach to a girl.

[name]Cordelia[/name] - I think it’s a great name to still love! Obviously you need to get your hubby on board  Again, I think there are a lot of nn potentials. It’s vintage but quirky - and I think it could work really nicely with [name]Luther[/name].

[name]Andromeda[/name] - It’s a bit much for my taste. I love mythology but this really is only associated with it - and I think it’s harder to create your own image in people’s minds when your name has such a strong association. (Obviously a child will create it, but they’re sort of constantly going up against the image) Also, I don’t particularly find the [name]Andromeda[/name] figure to be that inspiring.

[name]Elowen[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name] or [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Raven[/name] sounds nice to me. (Also I adore the name [name]Wren[/name]…just throwing it out there since you have several birds in your mn list)

Allaina- Very pretty. I like the NN [name]Laine[/name] or [name]Lainey[/name].

[name]Rowan[/name]- This one totally works as a girl’s name…especially for you. I love it! [name]Luther[/name] and [name]Rowan[/name] are awesome together. And [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Sparrow[/name] is so cute!!!

[name]Elowen[/name]- Nice. NMS but I think it would work well for you. [name]Elowen[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name] (like the PP said) is a nice combo.

[name]Lacy[/name]- Not too short. But kind of plain and boring.

[name]Cordelia[/name]- Not my favorite on your list but it’s ok. Would go pretty well with [name]Luther[/name].

[name]Andromeda[/name]- I know. It is out there, but I love it!

I know I said this already but I love, love, love [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Sparrow[/name]. [name]Luther[/name] [name]Wolf[/name] and [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Sparrow[/name]…so sweet. Well, good luck.

 Thanks for the opinions everyone!

I really like [name]Luther[/name] and [name]Elowen[/name]
I also like the name [name]Rowan[/name] and think of it as being gender neutral but since your son’s name is so masculine I would pick and equally feminine name for a daughter.

[name]Elowen[/name] [name]Sparrow[/name] and [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Raven[/name] would be my favorites!

I think [name]Elowen[/name] is perfect with [name]Luther[/name]. Popularity on this site in not way means popular in the general public. I also love [name]Cordelia[/name], but since your husband isn’t crazy for it, I would go with [name]Elowen[/name].

My daughters’ name is [name]Cordelia[/name]. I loved it for the beauty that it is when she graduates and gets married. Other than that, we call her [name]Corrie[/name]. I’ve seen other nicknames for it also, but I loved how it sounds formally and how it looks on paper! Good luck!

I love [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name].

I really like Allaina for you!

I agree that [name]Luther[/name] and [name]Elowen[/name] go really well together. I love [name]Cordelia[/name] too, but wouldn’t pair [name]Luther[/name] with it, and if your SO isn’t crazy about it, I say [name]Elowen[/name]! [name]Sparrow[/name] is the best option as a mn.

I think [name]Lacey[/name] [name]Raven[/name] is the way to go!

I like the sound of [name]Elowen[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name] and [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Raven[/name].

I love [name]Rowan[/name] for a girl. I think it’s a perfect choice. I am not really a fan of the others - [name]Elowen[/name] is pretty, but not my style; [name]Lacy[/name] sounds too immature; [name]Cordelia[/name] is a gorgeous name, but although one of my favourites in theory, it has such strong stripper and [name]Buffy[/name] the Vampire Slayer connotations that it seems unusable. [name]Andromeda[/name] is a bit too out there for me, although would work as a middle name, and Allaina would be more usable in my opinion if your husband had a different name. I would go with [name]Rowan[/name] - I love it, and in my opinion it’s the most usable from your list.
