Opinions Please

Like many of you I have a running list of my favorite names. Occasionally I like to get input from other name enthusiasts. Ideas of how you could “judge” my names…Not asking you do all of them (unless you want to)
Give your opinion on each name/combo - There’s a lot so extra thanks if you do this
Pick a top 5 from both the guys and girls
Are there any of the names you like individually but you’d put a different middle name with it?
What names do you like as siblings?
[name_m]How[/name_m] would you describe my naming style?
Any other names you think I’d like based off these names?
Thanks for your opinions!

[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] and [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]

[name_m]Ford[/name_m] Bridges: [name_m]Ford[/name_m] isn’t really my style, but it is alright. I’m not a fan of Bridges and together, this just sounds like a location. Maybe [name_m]Ford[/name_m] [name_m]Brigham[/name_m]?

[name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m]*: I like it a lot!

[name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]*: Not a huge [name_m]Axel[/name_m] fan but this is still a nice combo. I love the classic [name_m]William[/name_m] in the middle.

[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_u]Everett[/name_u]: Not my style, but nice enough

[name_m]Brooks[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]: This sounds like a country singer (not a bad thing). I like it. Relaxed vibe.

[name_m]Boston[/name_m] [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]
: I like [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] but not so much [name_m]Boston[/name_m].
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_u]Jude[/name_u]: Great combo. [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] is underused and [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is pretty popular, so I like seeing it in the middle.

[name_f]Allegra[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]: Interesting…not bad.
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]: sounds pretty. I like [name_f]Freya[/name_f] a lot more these days.

: I don’t like [name_f]Elsie[/name_f].
[name_f]Adele[/name_f] [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]: Hm…I’m not a fan of how they end so similar. I do think [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Adele[/name_f] flows better.
[name_f]Alaska[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]: Pretty!
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]: [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] is so pretty!
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]: this reminds me of summer time, so I love the imagery there.

[name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]

*I tried to note changes I’d make, as I went along
*I’m not good with labeling styles. Maybe modern classic for you? A lot of the names ring true to the trends of today (nature names, old-fashioned names) but also hold an air of being down-to-earth and safe.

*I don’t have time right now to put together sibets :frowning:

[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] & [name_f]Allegra[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] (can’t chose)

I feel your style in girls names is more classic, while your taste in boys names seems more spunky and surname-y (not a bad thing).

Hello! I’m going to stick to girls, since I am far more insightful and helpful there. First off, I would describe your style as balanced. You tend to pair one classic/popular name with an unexpected or vintage choice, and the contrast in style is striking in a good way. I would also describe it as dynamic, as many of the names you like have quite a bit of spunk and kick.

[name_f]Allegra[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]: While [name_f]Allegra[/name_f] is a common allergy medication, I can put that aside because it is a striking, lyrical choice. [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is one of my favorite names, and I think it’s quite underrated: Elegant and evocative.
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]: I adore [name_f]Freya[/name_f]: The sound is at once cute and fierce. I also love [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]: Playful and refined. They are definitely growing on me as a pair, and I quite like it! [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] keep the celestial theme.
[name_f]India[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]: I don’t think you can go wrong with either [name_f]Indie[/name_f] or [name_f]India[/name_f], but they are both clear honors for your uncle, just about even. Both [name_f]India[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] are beautiful, although perhaps a bit of a stylistic mismatch, so perhaps something a bit less lengthy like [name_f]India[/name_f] [name_f]Tamar[/name_f] or [name_f]India[/name_f] [name_f]Carys[/name_f]?
[name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]: This made me giggle. The Tagalog word for “grandma” is lola, and my grandmother is named [name_f]Rose[/name_f], so we call her [name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]! That sweet anecdote aside, [name_f]Lola[/name_f] is a great name: Gentle and feminine. However, I might choose a bolder middle than [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. [name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]Amity[/name_f], and [name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] come to mind.
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]: I like this a lot, but perhaps it loses some of its “wow” factor because of the rising popularity of both of these names. That said, [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is bright and lovely, and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is wonderfully elegant.
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]: [name_u]Love[/name_u] this! [name_f]Lark[/name_f] is dreamy and unexpected, while [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] is classic, tailored, and refined. This is my favorite spelling of it.
[name_f]Sybil[/name_f] [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] : I really don’t like [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], sorry. To me, it sounds stark and harsh. I do, however, think [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] is a very sold choice.
[name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]: Beautiful! I love the strong, vintage [name_f]Louise[/name_f] with modern-yet-not-trendy [name_f]Annabel[/name_f].
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Maren[/name_f]*: [name_u]Love[/name_u] it! Both of these names deftly combine quirk and style.
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]*: I like it, but for some reason I feel like these names run into each other. With [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], I might choose a more unexpected middle, such as [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], [name_f]Idalia[/name_f], or [name_f]Ilaria[/name_f].
*[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] [name_f]Isla[/name_f] - Not sure if [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is too matchy? : While I like both, I definitely think the two share too many common sounds to be compatible. [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], and [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] [name_f]Esme[/name_f] have a similar vibe.
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]*: So perfect! [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] is a compact vintage charmer that’s making a comeback, and while [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] is old-fashioned, it is traditional and serious in a stunning way.
[name_f]Adele[/name_f] [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] : [name_f]Adele[/name_f] is one of my favorite classic names, and I’m so glad you love it! [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] is very sweet, but too popular for my taste, and I think they’re a little too short together. [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_f]Adela[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], and [name_f]Adelina[/name_f] [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] flow better in my opinion, or perhaps [name_f]Adele[/name_f] [name_f]Sabine[/name_f] or [name_f]Adele[/name_f] [name_f]Saskia[/name_f]?
[name_f]Alaska[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]: Liking this quite a lot, especially if you have ties to [name_f]Alaska[/name_f]! It is a really tough, bold name. I especially enjoy it with the bold yet popular [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]!
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]*: Gosh, this is so, so sweet and classic. Refined yet playful, and just fantastic.
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] Jospehine: [name_u]Love[/name_u] it! [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is as sweet as honey, and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is positively regal.
[name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]: These are both popular, but I enjoy them together. Both vintage, classic, and strong.
[name_f]Posy[/name_f]: A bit cutesy for my taste, but that can be helped by a middle. [name_f]Posy[/name_f] [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], [name_f]Posy[/name_f] [name_f]Adele[/name_f], [name_f]Posy[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]/[name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Posy[/name_f] [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_f]Posy[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], etc.
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]: While I love both of these names, I think two long “e” sounds in one name run into each other. Perhaps [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], or [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]?
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]: This leapt out at me quickly. What a dynamic, lovely choice!
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]: Positively adorable!
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]: So, so sweet. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is at once delicate and spunky, and [name_u]June[/name_u] is refined with a kick.

Top five (no particular order):
[name_f]Allegra[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

Well, I do want to comment on them all! Here we go…

Guys

[name_m]Ford[/name_m] Bridges-I find this sort of a weird combo, because it sounds like an actual place. [name_m]Ford[/name_m], although not my style, is a perfectly nice name. Strong and unique, yet simple and recognizable.

[name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m]*-This is darling. I love [name_m]Declan[/name_m], but it’s really getting popular.

[name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]*-This reminds me too much of [name_m]Axl[/name_m] [name_f]Rose[/name_f].

[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_u]Everett[/name_u]-This is a bit too much, in my opinion. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a lot of live up to to be called [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u].

[name_m]Brooks[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]-I don’t love [name_m]Brooks[/name_m], but I like [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]!

[name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u]-I’d only do this if it’s your heritage. I love [name_u]August[/name_u].

[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_u]Oak[/name_u]-I love [name_m]Calum[/name_m]! I prefer the one ‘l’, but either way. [name_u]Oak[/name_u] is kind of a cool mn. I like [name_m]Calum[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] or [name_m]Calum[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] more.

[name_u]Darcy[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]*-[name_u]Darcy[/name_u] is one of those names that’s too masculine for a girl & too feminine for a boy.

[name_m]Linus[/name_m] [name_m]Freeman[/name_m]*-I love [name_m]Linus[/name_m]! It’s charming. Is [name_m]Freeman[/name_m] a family name? I like [name_m]Linus[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] or [name_m]Linus[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] more.

[name_m]Xander[/name_m] [name_m]Noble[/name_m]-This seems too nick-namey. [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] nn [name_m]Xander[/name_m] would be better, although I like [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] nn [name_m]Dex[/name_m].

[name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] [name_m]Cove[/name_m]-I love [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m]. [name_m]Cove[/name_m] is kind of cool.

[name_m]Arrow[/name_m] [name_m]Julian[/name_m]-Hm. Different. I don’t dislike it. I love [name_m]Julian[/name_m]!

[name_u]Lennox[/name_u] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]*-I don’t care for this one. Not sure why. I love [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], but [name_u]LennoX[/name_u] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] sort of runs into each other.

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Ross[/name_m]-I love [name_m]Henry[/name_m], but it’s sooo popular.

[name_m]Apollo[/name_m] [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]*-Hm. See [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u].

[name_m]Hayes[/name_m] [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]-Like the singer?

[name_m]Hendrik[/name_m] [name_u]Van[/name_u]*-This is awkward. It’s not Henrich & it’s not [name_m]Hendrix[/name_m].

[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]-I like [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]. It’s handsome. I don’t care for the mn. [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] or [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] would be cool.

[name_m]Boston[/name_m] [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]*-I don’t care for [name_m]Boston[/name_m], unless maybe the place has a special meaning to you.

[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_u]Jude[/name_u]-This is dashing!

Girls

[name_f]Allegra[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]-I love [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], but [name_f]Allegra[/name_f] reminds me too much of a medicine.

[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]*-[name_f]Freya[/name_f] is super sweet.

[name_f]India[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - My great uncle was killed on the USS Indianapolis during WWII. Is [name_f]India[/name_f] a stretch to honor him? Or should I go with [name_f]Indie[/name_f]?-I think either [name_f]Indie[/name_f] or actually [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] would be better. [name_f]India[/name_f] is a whole different place, so it’s kind of weird.

[name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]-So cute!

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]-This is adorable.

[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]-I don’t care for [name_f]Lark[/name_f]. It sounds harsh.

[name_f]Sybil[/name_f] [name_f]Georgina[/name_f]-I don’t hate it. Sounds a little old, but in a dated way.

[name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]-That’s cute.

[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Maren[/name_f]*-[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] is not my personal favorite, but it’s a fine name. [name_u]Unique[/name_u] yet recognizable, and works well on any age.

[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]*-I like [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]. Kind of prefer [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f].

*[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] [name_f]Isla[/name_f] - Not sure if [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is too matchy? -This combination isn’t so bad. [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is lovely.

[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]*-I love it, but find [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] too nick-namey on its own. [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]? Or [name_f]Elsa[/name_f].

[name_f]Adele[/name_f] [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]-That’s pretty. I love [name_f]Adela[/name_f] even more.

[name_f]Alaska[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]-I can’t get into [name_f]Alaska[/name_f]. See [name_m]Boston[/name_m].

[name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]*-[name_f]Thea[/name_f] is so cute, but see [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]. I feel like it needs to be a nn. [name_f]Anthea[/name_f] is my favorite.

[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] Jospehine-That’s darling!

[name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]-I like it, but a little ‘n’ heavy. [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is really really common.

*[name_f]Posy[/name_f] - This was my 2nd great grandfather’s nickname. I love it but I’m stuck for a middle name. Help!)-Cute. I like it as a nn for [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]! [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Isla[/name_f] nn [name_f]Posy[/name_f]. Or [name_f]Posy[/name_f] [name_u]Indiana[/name_u].

[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]-I like most [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] names, but can’t get into this one. The pronunciation is a little odd.

[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]-Hm. I don’t care for this. Too much.

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]-That’s super cute.

[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]-I love it!

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
