I am nowhere near having children, nor do I have a s.o., but I’ve narrowed my list down to three girl combos and three boy combos.
Girls:
[name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_u]Lowry[/name_u]
Summary
If I somehow had a daughter this very second, this would be her name. [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is the name of a distant family relative and I’ve loved the name for years. [name_u]Lowry[/name_u] honors my father.
[name_f]Phillipa[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
Summary
I love [name_f]Phillipa[/name_f] and the nicknames [name_u]Pip[/name_u]/Pippa. It’s a name I can imagine on a person of all ages. [name_u]June[/name_u] would likely only be used if her birthday happened to be in [name_u]June[/name_u]. I love the cadence of both names together.
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u]
Summary
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] is variation of one of my middle names, although it would not be an intentional “honoring.” I just really like the name for similar reasons as [name_f]Phillipa[/name_f]. [name_u]Marion[/name_u] is a variation of my mother’s middle name, so that would be honoring her.
Boys:
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] ([name_m]Hart[/name_m]) [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m]
Summary
I love the name [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] to get to my favorite nickname [name_m]Hart[/name_m]. [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] is a name I am not bold enough to use as a first name but love as a middle. I also love the connection to the Odyssey
[name_m]Abraham[/name_m] ([name_m]Bram[/name_m]) [name_u]Jude[/name_u]
Summary
[name_u]Love[/name_u] the nicknames of [name_m]Abe[/name_m]/Bram from [name_m]Abraham[/name_m]. [name_u]Jude[/name_u] would honor my brother whose first name begins with Ju.
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] ([name_u]Sascha[/name_u]/Sandy) [name_u]Reilly[/name_u]
Summary
[name_u]Love[/name_u] the Russian nickname [name_u]Sascha[/name_u] and [name_u]Sandy[/name_u] as a cooler alternative. [name_u]Reilly[/name_u] honors my sister as her name is a variation of that.
(I did not intentionally have all boy combos begin with A, because I’m not the biggest fan of alliteration, but because their proposed nicknames all begin with different letters I thought it wouldn’t sound so matchy-matchy.)
I’d like to think when I end up having kids I’d give them two middle names if my s.o. was okay with that. Both my sister and I have two and I’ve always loved the uniqueness of it and the fact that it can be a mode to honor both families of the parents. However, when making these combos I couldn’t for the life of me find names that flowed well.
