I haven’t posted in a while but basically my and husband are really stuck with names. I posted a thread a while ago asking about eleanor but one of our friend’s babys was born after and she called it Elena and it’s too close for us.
we don’t know the gender and we have a boys name chosen out (Alexander Ford - both family names) and we are completely stuck with the girls name. I’m due April 29th.
Our list is:
Harriet
Josephine
Meredith - Any nickname ideas? It’s cheesy but we quite like Red but we need some other ideas??
Grace
Lydia
Alexandria - As an alternative to Alexander as it honors family
Millicent
We’re also considering Mariana which we’ve been liking lately with the NN Mia. Does Mia work as a nickname? We pronounce Mariana as Mah-Ree-Ah-Na.
Our middle name list is all family names:
Carrington
Mavis
June
Florence
Sylvia
Victoria
We’d love to hear what you think our our list and also if you have any names you’d like to suggest for us then we’d appreciate it.
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]- not my style, little too old fashioned
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]- cute, I like the nickname [name_u]Josie[/name_u]
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u] - [name_u]Red[/name_u] is cute but seems a little spunky
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]- little boring and over done
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]- very pretty!
[name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u]! Super nice!
[name_f]Millicent[/name_f]- I really don’t see the appeal in this. It reminds me of Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty which would be an awful association.
[name_f]Mariana[/name_f] nn [name_f]Mia[/name_f] is my favorite by a long shot.
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]: Comes with the adorable nn “[name_f]Hattie[/name_f],” although I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Harriet[/name_f].
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]: Very classy and timeless. Who couldn’t love a little [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]? I know a [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] in her 20s who goes by [name_u]Josie[/name_u].
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]: A filler middle in the front is always nice to see. [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is really unappreciated.
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]: I think Beetlejuice and [name_f]Winona[/name_f] [name_m]Ryder[/name_m]'s character is the reason I love this name, but see it as very somber.
[name_f]Alexandria[/name_f]: Gorgeous! Perfect alternative to [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite part about it is that it isn’t [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f].
Yes, I do this Mis works as a nn for [name_f]Mariana[/name_f]. I also love that name and think it would sound great with any of the middles you have chosen (except [name_f]Mavis[/name_f], unless you like a little alliteration and it doesn’t clash with your ln.) Wonderful list! You really can’t go wrong, no matter what you choose.
sparkleninja18, thanks! I’m happy you like [name_f]Mariana[/name_f], we really love it right now!
oiseau, thank you! I’m happy you like the names on the list! It’s funny you mention beetlejuice because that’s the reason my husband likes the name too haha
I’m relieved you both like [name_f]Mariana[/name_f], we’ve had some of our friends say that we shouldn’t use it. (Mainly because they didn’t like it - which doesn’t bother me but my husband on the other hand…)
ooh, thanks for the suggestions! I like [name_f]Linnea[/name_f], [name_f]Delia[/name_f] (I also like [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]), [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], & [name_f]Erin[/name_f].
