Opinions/Suggestions?

I haven’t been on in a few months I think but recently we’ve been trying to narrow down our lists even more. I’m not due until [name_u]December[/name_u] so we have a few months left, though.

Our son is Dashel [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] but he goes by [name_u]Dash[/name_u] most of the time. Our top names atm:

[name_u]Vesper[/name_u]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f]Reverie[/name_f]
[name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Melodie[/name_f]
[name_f]France[/name_f] - She’d probably be [name_f]Frances[/name_f] on the birth certificate but we’ll call her [name_f]France[/name_f] all of the time
[name_f]Amaya[/name_f]
[name_f]Fern[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
Fairamay - found this online but we’re unsure of the pronunciation. We’d love it if it was Fair-uh-may but we don’t know for sure, wdyt?

We both really love [name_f]France[/name_f] so thats our #1 at the moment but it will likely change again before the baby comes.

We’d love to hear your opinions on our list and which ones you like! Also if you have any suggestions then we’d love them.

We have more names that we do like but these are the ones that we’ve talked about more often. [name_f]My[/name_f] last thread I posted in the girls section has a longer list of names we like if you want to take a look!(Nameberry - Welcome to the Nameberry Forums)

Thanks in advance!

I love [name_f]Reverie[/name_f], [name_f]Melodie[/name_f], and [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f], and I quite like [name_f]Eve[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. I also love [name_f]Frances[/name_f] (only in full), but I do slightly prefer [name_f]France[/name_f] to any other nn.

Out of your list I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u]:

[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f].

Gorgeous and go great with brother’s name. [name_f]France[/name_f] is cute but I would love it best as a middle, all by itself, like with [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]France[/name_f]. [name_f]Eve[/name_f] or [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] may need [name_f]Frances[/name_f] as a middle. You could still use [name_f]France[/name_f] as an affectionate nn, even in the middle spot.

Loving [name_f]Reverie[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Melodie[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] from your choices.

A blogger that I follow has sweet twins called [name_f]Reverie[/name_f] & [name_f]Boheme[/name_f] - they call [name_f]Reverie[/name_f], Revi for short.

Your son has an awesome name!!

As far as your list goes I love:
[name_u]Vesper[/name_u]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]- I prefer Evande, [name_f]Evanthe[/name_f], or [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] nn: [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Melodie[/name_f]-Much prefer [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]France[/name_f]*- [name_u]Love[/name_u] this as middle name
[name_f]Fern[/name_f]-prefer [name_f]Willow[/name_f], [name_f]Meadow[/name_f], and [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]-[name_m]Favorite[/name_m]!!
Fairamay - what about [name_f]Farrah[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] instead?

[name_f]Romilly[/name_f]

I like a lot of your names, but I think [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] sounds the best. I don’t love the sound of the 1 syllable names with [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m].

Since you like [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] and [name_f]Eve[/name_f], how about [name_f]Evanthe[/name_f]? [name_f]Evanthe[/name_f] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] sounds really good to my ears, and you could use the nn [name_f]Eve[/name_f].

[name_f]France/name_f and [name_f]Eve[/name_f] are my favorites! I think that théy are so cute!

I really love [name_f]Reverie[/name_f] [name_f]France[/name_f] as a combo. It’s romantic yet whimsical. Nn could be Revi or [name_f]Eve[/name_f]. It’s a beautiful name.

Thank you everyone! [name_f]Every[/name_f] comment is very helpful.

elisabeth rae - we have considered [name_f]France[/name_f] in the middle and using it as a nickname and it’s still a possibility!
emsky - sorry for any confusion - [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] isn’t our surname! It’s our sons middle name  However I do really like [name_f]Evanthe[/name_f]! It’s very pretty.

I like the suggestions of:
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Jolie[/name_f]
[name_f]Sapphira[/name_f]
[name_f]Cosima[/name_f]
[name_f]Luella[/name_f]
[name_f]Isis[/name_f]

Thanks again everyone!

[name_u]Vesper[/name_u] - I automatically associate it with vespas and vipers
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] - I do like it. But it feels like a child’s name more than a grown woman’s name to me.
[name_f]Reverie[/name_f] - nms, reminds me of “reverend.” Is it really pronounced like the word ‘reverie’? I google it, and there’s an L.A. female rapper named [name_f]Reverie[/name_f] Rapper! You should check her out.
[name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] - I love it. Yes, it will cause confusion and ppl will have to be corrected all the time (for example: [name_u]Sandy[/name_u]? [name_u]Sunny[/name_u]? [name_u]Zandy[/name_u]? Zanduh? Did I say it right?) but if you can stand that, then go for it. It’s a beautiful name.
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] - like it. Simple and elegant; good for a child and a woman.
[name_f]Melodie[/name_f] - one of my personal favorites. Probably better to spell it [name_f]Melody[/name_f].
[name_f]France[/name_f] - She’d probably be [name_f]Frances[/name_f] on the birth certificate but we’ll call her [name_f]France[/name_f] all of the time - this sounds like a good plan.
[name_f]Amaya[/name_f] - pronunciation issues
[name_f]Fern[/name_f] - simple, but may be mistaken for [name_u]Verne[/name_u]. A simple correction.
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] - personal favorite, and my favorite of this group.
Fairamay - found this online but we’re unsure of the pronunciation. We’d love it if it was Fair-uh-may but we don’t know for sure, wdyt? I think it is lovely. Like [name_f]Farrah[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f].

I like a lot of names on your list but I would veer away from the more traditional/English sounding names because Dashel [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] is so modern. [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] or [name_f]Amaya[/name_f] would be my choice with [name_u]Dash[/name_u]. If you love [name_f]France[/name_f] then I see no point of writing [name_f]Frances[/name_f] on her birth certificate especially when [name_f]France[/name_f] fits better in the sibset.

Thanks again everyone! As for the comments on Fairamay being better as a middle name - that’s what we’ll probably use it as if we use it at all. We think its a little [name_m]OTT[/name_m] for the first but it sounds pretty in the middle with certain first names, we think!

I like-

[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f]Reverie[/name_f] (prefer it as a middle name)
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Amaya[/name_f]
[name_f]Fern[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]

Suggesting [name_f]Adina[/name_f] and [name_f]Adira[/name_f].

[name_u]Vesper[/name_u]–not a fan
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]–nice, but [name_f]Cecile[/name_f] is gorgeous!
[name_f]Reverie[/name_f]–sweet
[name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]–makes me think of food additives
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]–classic, but [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is so perfect!
[name_f]Melodie[/name_f]–nice
[name_f]France[/name_f] - [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]?? [name_f]France[/name_f], [name_f]Francie[/name_f] or Cesca as a nn.
[name_f]Amaya[/name_f]–lovely!
[name_f]Fern[/name_f]–grandma-ish
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]–roller disco, feathered hair kind of name.
Fairamay-Sounds like a scientist, looks kind of made up, but not terrible.
