Opinions would be lovely!!!

I’m going for a classy but quirky, strong and intelligent name. These are ones I am considering, I’d love to know what you think of them! I’m renaming myself, and I’m 19, so all are uncommon except for [name]Phoebe[/name], which was #906 or something when I was born.

[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name]

(I’m waiting to see if [name]Abby[/name] comes out with a [name]Katniss[/name] list, for more inspiration).

Concerns;

  1. Is [name]Maeve[/name] too short? I love the meaning/history/sound except it is a bit abrupt. My last name is one syllable, although I’m changing it if/when I get married. Can one syllable names be elegant?

  2. Does [name]Guinevere[/name]'s history make it unusable? There is [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Turner[/name], so it’s been used in real life.

I mainly want opinions, but if you have any other ideas, let me know!

I like all your names a lot. [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Maeve[/name] are my favourites, but I adore [name]Guinevere[/name] as well! I think, however, that a name like [name]Guinevere[/name] would be a difficult name to adjust to for people who already know you. Maybe it’s pretty, but changing your name at all will be a big adjustment for you and anyone who knows you, particularly close friends and family, and I think a name like [name]Maeve[/name], [name]Imogen[/name] or [name]Phoebe[/name] would be easier to get used to than [name]Guinevere[/name], which I will admit, beautiful as it is, is definitely a mouthful. :wink:
For your criteria, and for the fact that you’re changing your name, I’d definitely vote for [name]Maeve[/name]. It’s definitely a wonderful name, and one syllable can absolutely be elegant. I don’t find it abrupt at all. :slight_smile:

I like [name]Imogen[/name]. [name]Maeve[/name] is nice if you are Irish. I think [name]Guinevere[/name] is a bit much, but that’s JMO. [name]Just[/name] curious…what is your name now? I’m always fascinated by the motivation when one renames oneself, since it is rare.

I see what you mean about [name]Guinevere[/name], although the nickname Guin (PN [name]Gwen[/name]) would make it easier!

My first and middle names are [name]Emily[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. [name]Lovely[/name], but it makes me feel completely anonymous. I’m changing my middle name too, but I want to nail down my first name before starting on middles!

[name]Imogen[/name] would probably be the easiest transition, having a similar sound to [name]Emily[/name]. [name]Both[/name] gorgeous names!

I love [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Pheobe[/name] personally. [name]Imogen[/name] is my favorite. It’s different and uncommon but lovely. [name]Pheobe[/name] is fun and quirky (I think of the character on Friends!). [name]Maeve[/name] isn’t really my style at all. A little too old fashioned for my taste. [name]Guinevere[/name] is nice but also not my style.

Thanks! I’m considering crossing [name]Guinevere[/name] off, because it might be too tied to the mythical queen…but it is stunning, and I like stunning, gorgeous names!

(Definitely noting the preference for [name]Imogen[/name]. I’m going to mull over [name]Maeve[/name], haha, and [name]Phoebe[/name])
