I find out what my first baby will be in about 6 weeks. My husband has his heart set on the name [name]Narissa[/name] [name]Nicole[/name] if it is a girl. I like that it’s unique but it’s not my favorite name. What is your opinion of the name and if it’s a girl should we just go with it? Thanks!!
I think it’s pretty. If it’s not your favorite I say don’t use it. You’ll always wonder what other name you would have liked more. My daughter is [name]Geneva[/name] [name]Simone[/name], I wanted [name]Simone[/name] [name]Geneva[/name] - And for the first year I hated that I didn’t fight for it. Now I love [name]Geneva[/name] though!
I like it… but you have plenty of time. You do not have to commit to anything yet. I would def keep it on the list, but keep your options open too. You should love the name as much as he does!
I don’t know, I don’t really like the sound of [name]Narissa[/name]. It sounds like an evil queen from a Disney movie. I would go with [name]Marissa[/name].
Personally, I don’t really like any female names that end in “issa.” However, I really like the alliteration. So if you love the name [name]Narissa[/name], than go for it!
i like the spelling [name]Nerissa[/name] better, for what that’s worth. [name]Do[/name] you have a strong preference for something else? Another name in mind?
Well my name is [name]Marisa[/name] [name]Nicole[/name] lol. If names like [name]Marissa[/name], [name]Larissa[/name], and [name]Karissa[/name] were as popular today as they were when I was born I wouldn’t like this name just because it was so confusing for me as a child, but I doubt it’d be a problem for her now. Its not my favorite name but it’s cute.
I don’t really have a preference regarding a name. I like that it’s unique but don’t want it to be too off the wall or something the child would grow up not to like.
[name]Nerissa[/name] is pretty tame and not off-the-wall (I also prefer this spelling). It has familiar sounds, while not being a popular name in itself. [name]Nerissa[/name]/[name]Narissa[/name] [name]Nicole[/name] also sounds really nice together.
I think you should choose a name that you [name]BOTH[/name] love.
I like [name]Clarissa[/name] but [name]Narissa[/name] is not my style.
Seems that unless you figure out some names that you love, then that will be your daughter’s name! It’s not bad, but if you don’t love it, then maybe try coming up with something you like better! If you list a few names you like/don’t mind then I’ll bet people will be posting suggestions/ideas for you in no time. It’s just hard to come up with ideas when we don’t know your style!
As for [name]Narissa[/name] [name]Nicole[/name]…it’s alright…I like that [name]Narissa[/name] is fairly unique (I’ve never met anyone by that name before!). I [name]LOVE[/name] the meaning the [name]Nerissa[/name] (the original spelling)…it’s beautiful. [name]Nicole[/name] is a safe, but common choice. I think a little girl would like the frillyness of [name]Narissa[/name] and the commonness of [name]Nicole[/name].
Maybe your husband would also like: [name]Carissa[/name], [name]Clarissa[/name], [name]Melissa[/name], [name]Lissa[/name], [name]Marisa[/name] or some of these: 19 Names to Substitute for Melissa | Nameberry
Or perhaps: [name]Nicola[/name]? [name]Colette[/name]?
In anycase, I think that you should name your baby something you [name]BOTH[/name] love! Whether it is [name]Narissa[/name] [name]Nicole[/name] or not!
Barring no strong feelings yourself, I would really go with the spelling [name]Nerissa[/name] - it’s Shakespearean, which is cool : D. [name]Narissa[/name] just looks like [name]Narcissa[/name] to me - [name]Narcissa[/name] is a name, and a pretty one at that, alluding to daffodils, but of course since it also touches on narcissism, that’s not good.
I like the alliteration of [name]Nerissa[/name] [name]Nicole[/name]! You could do worse! Not bad for a name generated by guys, they sometimes seem not to get it at all : D.
See if you can fall in love with the name at least enough to like it and it makes you smile. I think on these nameboards you’ll get some people (myself included : D) who are just completely ga-ga for names and if that’s not you, that’s cool and there’s no need to force it. But you do want to feel, you know, generally positive : D.
Good luck!
I’m a [name]Larissa[/name]…and…I like it as an adult, but never really loved it. I’m constantly introducing myself like this…“It’s like [name]Marissa[/name] but with an L.”
It’s a pretty name, but a lifetime of having to clarify/spell it/giving out your middle name at Starbucks to avoid the former.
I agree with all of this. I love [name]Clarissa[/name] [name]Nichole[/name].
I agree with a PP – I saw [name]Narissa[/name] and first misread it as [name]Narcissa[/name]. But [name]Nerissa[/name] is truly lovely: the combo vibe of Shakespearean + sea nymph is pretty great.
I’m less enthused about [name]Nicole[/name], I guess – there’s nothing wrong with it at all, but it just doesn’t seem that interesting. But I’m also of the camp that thinks that middle names can be fabulous opportunities to create meaning – either by using a name to honor a family member, dear friend, or personal hero, or else by using a name whose definition really speaks to you. Can you think of any name that would resonate with you like that?
And yeah, there isn’t necessarily going to be a “perfect” name out there, but you should pick a name that makes you feel reasonably happy when you look at it.
if you are not sure about it, spend your time finding something else and discussing with your husband, rather than trying to convince yourself of [name]Narissa[/name] - just my opion. maybe you will decide it is the best option after all but i would spend my time thinking of the ones i liked more
I’m a [name]Marissa[/name] and I’ve always liked my name… Older people always seem surprised by it and ask me to repeat myself. In the 90s (and every now and then) people would say [name]Melissa[/name]. I’ve never heard of [name]Nerissa[/name] or [name]Narissa[/name]. I don’t really like how it sounds, and using alliteration between the first and middle is not my style but I don’t think it’s that bad. I agree with everyone else that you should choose something you both love!
I love the alliteration of this name, although I do prefer the spelling [name]Nerissa[/name] (and that keeps you away from people mistaking it for anything in the [name]Narcissa[/name] name family). As pps have said, I love that it’s a beautiful name with common, easy-to-pronounce sounds but is still a unique name. And even aside from the great alliteration, [name]Nerissa[/name] [name]Nicole[/name] really has a great flow. Props to your husband for coming up with it – very impressive!
But also as pps have said – don’t commit to anything now. My advice would be to keep it in mind, along with a few other names you both like, and wait to meet her. Then you’ll be certain if it’s right for her.
