We like old names that are actual names and not made up, but also not really common. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Gunnar[/name] in the MN spot and my SO LOVES [name]Rafe[/name]. I like [name]Rafe[/name] more and more each day but sometimes wonder if it’s too out there for common use. I also debate the spelling in my head of [name]Rafe[/name]/Raif/Raef. I don’t usually like to spell names diferently than they should be spelled however since this is essentially the “Americanized” form of [name]Ralph[/name] so that it is pronounced the way you want I’m not sure which is better in terms of spelling although I lean towards Raef.
Yes I am aware that some people see “rape or rake” when they read this name but those are not issues for me.
[name]Rafe[/name] is a rather nice, posh name, but may be hard for most westerners to pronounce. It is a rather upper class name in [name]England[/name]. Raif may be a better way to spell it. I do much prefer the proper spelling however. I like the middle name [name]Gunner[/name] to go with it, since [name]Rafe[/name] can be a female name, [name]Gunner[/name] gives a strong masculine sense to the name. Have you consider using [name]Raphael[/name] or [name]Rafferty[/name] as a full name and [name]Rafe[/name] as NM. Also I have no idea how someone could get rape or rake from the name since they sound way different.
I like the sound of [name]Rafe[/name] but I’d spell it differently because of the whole rape thing. There was a guy named [name]Rafe[/name] at my high school and he heard a lot of rape jokes lol.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Rafe[/name]. This is the best spelling as far as recognizability and ease of use go [name]IMO[/name]. I’m not a fan of [name]Gunnar[/name], but it’s still a fine combo
