[name]Hi[/name] am having a girl due in [name]September[/name] and really like the name [name]Ridley[/name] I heard it in a movie and think its unusual which appeals to me. Her middle name will be [name]Elizabeth[/name] and surname [name]Duke[/name] I think it goes together.
It isn’t my cup of tea.
It is traditionally a surname, and is used rarely as a boy name ([name]Ridley[/name] [name]Scott[/name]). [name]Just[/name] be aware that you might get a lot of negative feedback on it because it seems masculine and many people don’t really care for surnames as first names. Especially obscure ones that don’t have any personal meaning.
What about [name]Ripley[/name]? It has more feminine associations?
[name]Riley[/name] is also unisex.
Well, I do like that her initials would spell [name]RED[/name], which is fun.
[name]Ridley[/name] is very trendy and I don’t really like the imagery of “getting rid” of something.
The sound isn’t bad, but there are other similar names I think are more versatile and won’t feel as dated in 20 years. [name]Rory[/name], [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Ruby[/name], [name]Roxy[/name] ([name]Roxana[/name]), [name]Rosy[/name] ([name]Rosalyn[/name]), [name]Romy[/name] ([name]Rosemary[/name])
I like it. I don’t love it with the last name [name]Duke[/name] though. I feel like the surname is very masculine sounding and would therefore require something more feminine to precede it.
Well if she takes her fathers name then it will be [name]Dawson[/name] but I have also been thinking of changing my surname to my mothers maiden name which would be [name]Harper[/name].
If you are talking about beautiful creatures, [name]Ridley[/name] was not exactly a role model character. But I see the appeal. I kind of like it. It’s fun and fresh somehow. I didn’t think I would like it. I would still study it a little bit more.
What about naming her [name]Harper[/name] after your mother’s maiden name? I love [name]Harper[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name].
I was thinking about that but I thought it sounded too american and that people would think I got it from [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Beckham[/name]. Also am seriously considering changing my surname to [name]Harper[/name] so it rules it out for now.
lol yes thats where I got it from although I’d hope she wouldn’t go around in see through black lace dresses. I still have a lot of time so no rush YET
I prefer [name]Harper[/name] to [name]Ridley[/name]. Does it really matter if people think you got it from the Bex? You got a perfectly got explanation “No, it’s actually my mothers maiden name!”. Shimples… and it doesn’t sound too American (tbh in my ears [name]Ridley[/name] sounds more American than [name]Harper[/name])
I like [name]Ridley[/name]. I prefer unisex names particularly for a girls name. I think it is perfect with the feminine, traditional mn.
I do like both I think I might use both as they sound good for siblings.
[name]Ridley[/name] [name]Harper[/name] would be incredible! Have you ever thought of that? I actually like [name]Ridley[/name] a lot and I’m kinda over the [name]Harper[/name] trend, but since it’s your mother’s maiden name and has meaning I like it a lot more. WDYT?
Ohhh I quite like that thank you
I’m a gamer, and all I can think of is [name]Ridley[/name] from the Metroid series, which looks like this:
I can’t see it as a girls’ name at all, but I do like it on a boy.
lol what an image…am not a gamer so it doesn’t really bother me that much.
Honestly? I hate it. I really do not see the appeal of surnames on girls and I really do not like the trendy -ley ending. I’m sorry, I think there are so many other more attractive, feminine names out there.
If you absolutely love [name]Ridley[/name], go for it! I find it refreshingly unique and I like it with both [name]Harper[/name] and [name]Dawson[/name], although I do agree that it sounds a bit clunky with [name]Duke[/name]
Also I am personally not a huge fan of [name]Harper[/name] as a girl’s name. It sounds like Harpy
[name]Do[/name] yo think [name]Rowan[/name] would be a good name for a sibling or are 2 r names too much?
