We are still struggling with naming our baby girl at 37 weeks pregnant. Her middle name will definitely be Opal and last name starts with “H” and is one syllable which can make it a little harder. These are some ideas we have and like, but still can’t decide. I like classy names that can have a nickname/shortened version and my husband likes trendy/cutesy names. Are there any that sound good to you? Other suggestions? Thanks in advance! …Big brother’s name is Spencer Philip.
Brinley or Brynlee Opal H.
Lainey Opal H.
Elizabeth (Libby) Opal H.
Camryn Opal H.
Hadley Opal H.
I love both [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] “Libby” and [name_f]Lainey[/name_f] so much, and they both pair wonderfully with [name_f]Opal[/name_f] and also with her brother’s name.
[name_f]Lainey[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] is my favorite–so sweet! I love [name_f]Libby[/name_f] even more, but prefer just [name_f]Libby[/name_f] (although [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] is gorgeous too). Style-wise, I think [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] feels like the most natural match for [name_u]Spencer[/name_u], and I really like that too! But I think [name_f]Lainey[/name_f] still gets my vote overall
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] and [name_u]Brinley[/name_u] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] have my votes! [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] and [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] go great together and it is an awesome name
Brinley/Brynlee-Meh, I’m not a fan of this one. It does feel very trendy/cutesy, which is not my style. And I don’t think grows up very well. Maybe just [name_u]Bryn[/name_u] would be nicer?
Lainey-I think that [name_f]Lainey[/name_f] has a pleasant sound, but seems a little lacking. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like Elaine/Elaina or maybe [name_u]Delaney[/name_u] nn Lainey/Laney?
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (Libby)-I like it! It seems like a perfect blend of your’s & your husband’s styles.
Camryn-This is not my cup of tea either. Too boyish sounding & trendy for me.
Hadley-This is not my personal style either, but I don’t find it terribly unpleasant or anything. I think that [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] is pretty cute & [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] & [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] go really well for siblings.
Of your current list [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] “Libby” [name_f]Opal[/name_f] sounds like the best compromise between your preferred styles, but I wonder if you would like [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] or [name_f]Helena[/name_f] or [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] called [name_f]Lainey[/name_f]? It would be a classy name like you like with a cute, modern sounding nickname for your husband!
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] is also nice and strikes me as a good crossover name for classy, cute, and modern. Personally, [name_u]Camryn[/name_u] is just not my cup of tea. It doesn’t sound very feminine to me.
Brinley/Brynlee immediately struck me as less substantial sounding than [name_u]Spencer[/name_u], sorry.
[name_f]Lainey[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] or [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] would be perfect with [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_m]Philip[/name_m] imo!
I think [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (Libby) [name_f]Opal[/name_f] checks all the boxes for you. It’s lovely. I also really like [name_f]Lainey[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] but agree with pp that suggest a more formal name that suits your style better (with [name_f]Lainey[/name_f] as the nickname). [name_f]Helena[/name_f], nickname [name_f]Lainey[/name_f] would be adorable. [name_u]Camryn[/name_u] is nice too and reminded me of [name_u]Camille[/name_u] which you may like. I would also suggest Alexa/Alexandria with [name_u]Lexie[/name_u] as a nickname.
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] “Libby” is BEAUTIFUL!! Ahh, I love that combination. [name_f]Libby[/name_f] is one of my very favorites. I also love [name_f]Lainey[/name_f]! [name_f]Libby[/name_f] & [name_f]Lainey[/name_f] sound wonderful with [name_u]Spencer[/name_u]!
I’m really loving [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] “Libby”. I also like the suggestion of [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] “Lainey”. They both go really well with [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_m]Philip[/name_m].
