[name_u]Orion[/name_u] has been a long time favorite of mine that I’ve recently contemplated brining back on to my list since it reminds OH and I of some fond memories.
I’ve been warned away from the name a few times since it’s easily identifiable with the constellation but no other star related names have the same draw to them for me as [name_u]Orion[/name_u]. Possible combos would be [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Orion[/name_u], [name_m]Marcus[/name_m] [name_u]Orion[/name_u] (initials spell MOB), [name_u]Orion[/name_u] [name_m]Caine[/name_m] and [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] [name_u]Orion[/name_u].
Should I bring it back or continue searching for another less obvious star name?
What would be wrong with the association with the star or constellation? I think [name_u]Orion[/name_u] is a great, strong name and those connections are part of the reason it’s on my boys’ list! I have a soft spot for [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], and I think [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Orion[/name_u] is absolute perfection. I also really like [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] [name_u]Orion[/name_u] and [name_u]Orion[/name_u] [name_m]Caine[/name_m]. I say bring it back.
I don’t think the star thing is bad. It’s actually quite nice- wherever you are, you can look up and see a reminder of your [name_u]Orion[/name_u] in the cosmos. It’s also got a very accessible sound- [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] has been so popular for so long, and O’[name_u]Ryan[/name_u] is a common surname, so it’s not a “weird” star name, like Betelgeuse or Pegasus.
I think in an era when [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] and [name_m]Archer[/name_m] are so popular and all the -dens and -ons are floating about, [name_u]Orion[/name_u] actually ties several trends together without being predictable or drab.
I don’t like [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] particularly, or with a “star” name because, well, it means dog and I speak enough Hebrew that it’s distracting and I think about the Dog [name_f]Star[/name_f]. [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Orion[/name_u] is very nice though. As is [name_m]Marcus[/name_m] [name_u]Orion[/name_u].
Thanks for the input. Its definitely coming back onto the list.
I really like [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Orion[/name_u] at the moment with [name_m]Marcus[/name_m] [name_u]Orion[/name_u] right behind it.
I love [name_u]Orion[/name_u] and I think it totally works. Out of your combos I like [name_m]Marcus[/name_m] [name_u]Orion[/name_u] and [name_u]Orion[/name_u] [name_m]Caine[/name_m].
If I ever have a son, his middle name will be [name_u]Orion[/name_u]. I love astronomy so constellation/star connection is a major bonus point. I say go for it.
Less obvious constellation/star names:
[name_m]Altair[/name_m] - [name_f]Aquila[/name_f]'s brightest star. Probably my favourite after [name_u]Orion[/name_u].
Arcturus, Haris - Bootes’s stars.
Alioth - [name_f]Ursa[/name_f] [name_m]Major[/name_m]'s star. I’m still not sure myself but I pronounce it like [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] with an A.
[name_m]Castor[/name_m] - [name_m]Castor[/name_m] and [name_m]Pollux[/name_m] are the twins from [name_u]Gemini[/name_u].
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] - or Regulus.
Thanks. I like [name_m]Altair[/name_m]. I like [name_m]Leo[/name_m] but I have a bil named [name_m]Leonardo[/name_m] who goes by [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and my brother is insistant on using [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] “[name_m]Leo[/name_m]” on a son.
