[name_f]Winona[/name_f] and [name_f]Orla[/name_f] sound amazing together!!! I think [name_f]Orla[/name_f] is more down to earth than [name_f]Leora[/name_f], which sounds fanciful. But… I love [name_f]Leora[/name_f]! It’s the definition of pretty. Both [name_f]Orla[/name_f] and [name_f]Leora[/name_f] are regal and aristocratic sounding, but also wearable and very sweet.
I almost didn’t even vote! It’s too hard! But in the end I chose [name_f]Orla[/name_f] because I love it with [name_f]Winona[/name_f]. Good luck.
What about [name_f]Elora[/name_f]? I like both [name_f]Orla[/name_f] and [name_f]Leora[/name_f] (people may hear [name_f]Laura[/name_f]). I don’t think you can go wrong!
By itself, I prefer [name_f]Orla[/name_f]. But [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] doesn’t look/sound as good as [name_f]Leora[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and with your last name, so that’s what I voted for. What about [name_f]Eliora[/name_f]?
[name_f]Orla[/name_f], for sure! I much prefer it, even though I love the idea of nn [name_m]Leo[/name_m] for a girl. [name_f]Winona[/name_f] and [name_f]Orla[/name_f] make for gorgeous sister names (love that you used [name_f]Winona[/name_f] for your firstborn girl, btw ;)), and I prefer [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] as a combo by a mile - [name_f]Leora[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is a bit too elaborate for me.
Though I love [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and think it works beautifully with [name_f]Winnie[/name_f], [name_f]Leora[/name_f] doesn’t really do it for me. It sounds too much like a “unique” spin on [name_f]Leona[/name_f] - pretty but not very distinctive, despite technically being unusual. I have the same problem with [name_f]Elora[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliora[/name_f] - they look unusual if you look at the stats, but they share so many popular sounds with names like [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Elliana[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], etc. that they don’t stand out to me at all.
Ooh, I love both [name_f]Orla[/name_f] and [name_f]Leora[/name_f] so much! I voted for [name_f]Orla[/name_f] because I think it flows sliiightly better with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and I like that it’s a different number of syllables from [name_f]Winona[/name_f]. [name_f]Leora[/name_f] is equally gorgeous and underrated, though.
I wouldn’t worry about [name_f]Orla[/name_f] getting teased too much—I knew an [name_m]IRL[/name_m] [name_f]Orla[/name_f] back in high school and she was pretty much the pinnacle of cool (but in an artsy way.)
I strongly prefer [name_f]Leora[/name_f]! I think it’s so beautiful, and much less tease-inducing than [name_f]Orla[/name_f] (it really does look like “oral”). [name_f]Leora[/name_f] is such a lovely, underrated name. [name_f]Orla[/name_f] sounds awkward to me, and I can’t imagine how a child will deal with the inevitable teasing.
[name_f]Leora[/name_f] is just wonderful :).
Go with [name_f]Orla[/name_f]! I don’t think the teasing potential is enough reason not to use this name. And [name_f]Orla[/name_f]-[name_f]Beth[/name_f] is just darling!
Another vote for [name_f]Orla[/name_f]
Thank you all for weighing in! It seems like folks are pretty split, which mirrors exactly how we’re feeling It’s nice to know we can’t really go wrong - we may just wait until baby is here to see which suits her better.
These 2 names were narrowed down from a long list of others I gravitated towards which are more or less permutations of the same letters:
[name_f]Leora[/name_f]
[name_f]Orla[/name_f]
[name_f]Elora[/name_f]
[name_f]Noela[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonor[/name_f] (my fave, partner wasn’t on board)
…etc.
Had she been a boy, she would have been named [name_m]Otto[/name_m] after her great-great-grandfather. I suppose from that view, [name_f]Orla[/name_f] has a sliiiight advantage since it shares the same # of letters, syllables, and begins with O, but it’s not really much of a factor in my mind.
Thanks again, everyone!
