[name_m]Hi[/name_m] All! I posted a thread some time ago about [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] as a sister for my daughter [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]. (Please ingore the misspell of “[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]” in the title - I’m not sure how to edit that!)
I have since revisited the name [name_f]Orlanda[/name_f], and it’s growing on me. Somehow it seems softer than [name_f]Octavia[/name_f].
I love both of these names and I like the [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] connection with both (obviously that’s the history of [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] so it would be nice to have that connection).
I prefer [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] as the NNs are more feminine and soft - [name_f]Avia[/name_f]/[name_f]Via[/name_f]/[name_f]Ava[/name_f]/O/[name_u]Tavi[/name_u].
I do like [name_m]Orlando[/name_m] so [name_f]Orlanda[/name_f] I like via connection, I just can’t find a NN I like.
That being said I feel like you need to use a name you love and if you love the [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] connection just do it!
I prefer [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] - maybe part of it is that I’ve never heard of [name_f]Orlanda[/name_f] before so it needs some time to grow on me. Maybe its that it shares the ‘duh’ ending of [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]. [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] are a great set through (love [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]!!)
I prefer [name_f]Octavia[/name_f], I think an [name_m]Orlando[/name_m] would run into issues with people mixing up her name with “[name_m]Orlando[/name_m],” and I just prefer [name_f]Octavia[/name_f]. [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] also sounds better with [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] in my opinion because of the contrasting sounds. [name_f]Orlanda[/name_f] and [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] just sort of mix together.
Hello! [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] is a wonderful name! So pretty!
Between [name_f]Orlanda[/name_f] and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f], I prefer [name_f]Orlanda[/name_f]. I agree that it sounds softer, sweeter and more modern. It’s easier for me to imagine a little girl named [name_f]Orlanda[/name_f] that a little one named [name_f]Octavia[/name_f]. I admite that I’ve never been a fan of [name_f]Octavia[/name_f], so I’m probably biased. However, I adore the sibset [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f]. I think those names are great for sisters.
