Orlando or Josiah for a girl?

I may be crazy. But don’t go easy on me

[name]Don[/name]'t go easy? Oh no girl, I think you just opened yourself up for some mean comments! I will just say I don’t care for those names on girls. However, with the huge trend of people giving traditionally male names to their baby girls, I’d say a female [name]Orlando[/name] or [name]Josiah[/name] wouldn’t be completely out of left field these days.

Um NO PLEASE NO!!!

If I were being dangled over a pit full of hungry lions I would reluctantly choose [name]Josiah[/name].

You’d have to feel really strongly about them to use either I think, as you will likely get a lot of negative reactions to it.

If going with [name]Orlando[/name] I’d be tempted to change it to [name]Orlanda[/name]. [name]Josiah[/name] would maybe work as Josiana. But I realise you weren’t asking for ways to feminise them, I just guess I just have a lot of trouble picturing them working for girls.

Please don’t. There are some many beautiful girls’ names and more and more boy’s names are being ‘taken’ from the boys.
[name]Orlanda[/name] or [name]Josie[/name] instead?

I say no to both of them. [name]Orlando[/name] Bloom is still fairly popular (at least I think he is… Is he still working or am I mentally stuck in 2006?) and there are plenty of male [name]Josiah[/name]'s I either know or have heard of. Plus, [name]Josiah[/name] is in the top 100 for boys. That doesn’t mean that she’d have boy [name]Josiah[/name]'s in her class, it just means it’s more likely.
It’s extremely difficult to picture either of these working well on girls.

NEITHER. they dont even remotely sound unisex. your poor daughter would have to live with and explain this her entire life. there are plenty of other unique names for girls out there.

I don’t like [name]Orlando[/name] for anyone. Partially because I don’t like the sound, and partially because I don’t like place names (especially when the place is a major tourist attraction).

[name]Josiah[/name] I like for either boy or girl! If it matters to you, [name]Josiah[/name] is soft enough to easily become a stereotypical girls’ name; I think all that would be needed to make it solidly unisex is a single famous female [name]Josiah[/name]. [name]Josie[/name] is a cute name for either as well. I’ve always loved the idea of a son called [name]Joseph[/name] and nicknamed [name]Josie[/name]. I think people will be much less sensitive about what is “meant for” boys and what is “meant for” girls in the next couple decades. At least, I hope so.

Personally I don’t like either one for a boy, let alone a girl.

What about [name]Josie[/name]? Similar sound to [name]Josiah[/name], but an established girls name. I’m also not a huge fan of most ‘nickname names’ ([name]Josie[/name] rather than [name]Josephine[/name]) but I would much rather [name]Josie[/name] than [name]Josiah[/name].

[name]Both[/name] [name]Orlando[/name] and [name]Josiah[/name] would be ridiculous on a girl. You’re naming a girl, not a boy. If you love the names so much or are honoring someone, find a similar (FEMININE) name.

[name]Josiah[/name] could be [name]Josephine[/name] or [name]Josanna[/name]. Yes, I just made [name]Josanna[/name] up but I’d rather see a name smoosh than a boys name used for a girl.

Nooooooo to both - totally unsuitable for a girl!!!

I find them both to be awful as far as naming a girl goes. If I absolutely had to pick I’d go with [name]Josiah[/name]. What about [name]Orlie[/name] or [name]Josie[/name]?

If you’re serious, I’m genuinely disappointed. There are so many acceptable names for girls, leave the boys names to the boys. Until you name your son [name]Victoria[/name], don’t name your daughter [name]Orlando[/name].

Neither. I think they are strictly boys names. [name]How[/name] about a more feminine alternative like [name]Olivia[/name] or [name]Josie[/name]?
