Oscar, Rory and Louis

Could I please have some thoughts and opinions on [name]Oscar[/name], [name]Rory[/name] and [name]Louis[/name] please? I recently added them to my list but as of late I’m feeling a bit iffy about leaving them there.

Any replies are greatly appreciated, thank you

[name]Oscar[/name] - I adore this. I have since I can remember. My mind goes to [name]Oscar[/name] Wilde and [name]Oskar[/name] Schindler straightaway, and both are really great associations for me. It’s smart, a bit vintage, so handsome, and just all around cool. I can’t really imagine using [name]Oscar[/name] as a FN, really, but I just adore it and love seeing it used.

[name]Rory[/name] - cute. It’s one of those names I doubt I would use (mainly because [name]Aurora[/name]'s on my list, and I think [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Aurora[/name] [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Rory[/name] something or other would be a bit too repetitive, even though [name]Isabelle[/name] definitely wouldn’t go by [name]Rory[/name]!), but I love seeing others use it, and I lovelovelove the [name]Rory[/name] [name]Joshua[/name] combo on your short list. I just adore it.

[name]Louis[/name] - I’ve grown to really like this, too. [name]Do[/name] you say it like loo-ee or lew-iss? I prefer the former pronunciation, but I think the second is a bit inevitable unless you’re in [name]France[/name]. I like other short “L” names (especially [name]Linus[/name] and [name]Leo[/name], but also [name]Liam[/name]) a bit more, but I really adore [name]Louis[/name], as well. I’ve considered it as a MN a couple times.

Honestly, I pretty much adore your whole list, haha, so it doesn’t surprise me that I love all three.

[name]Rory[/name]- [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Rory[/name], cute, spunky. Trouble is it is slowing getting girl napped.

[name]Oscar[/name]- like it in theory, but personally can’t get past [name]Sesame[/name] [name]Street[/name].

[name]Louis[/name]- really like, but has 2 ways of being said- [name]LEW[/name]-is or [name]LEW[/name]-ee. I prefer [name]Lew[/name]-is. My DD is a “[name]One[/name] Direction” fan so I see it as a name that may potentially be popular with teens mums for that reason.

I love [name]Rory[/name]! and would definitely use it on a boy (it’s just too similar to my daughter’s name to consider). Great name. I’m not as keen on the other 2.

I love [name]Louis[/name]! It’s a cute and handsome classic. I pronounce it Loo-ee, but that’s probably mostly because of [name]Louis[/name] [name]Tomlinson[/name] from [name]One[/name] Direction. I’ve known two [name]Louis[/name]’ and they both pronounced it Loo-ee too, so that might be a reason.

I like [name]Rory[/name] too, but in a lot of non english speaking countries it’s a bit hard to pronounce. I love irish names though, and this is one of the easily pronounced ones (in english speaking countries), which is good.

[name]Oscar[/name] is really nice too. Where I live it’s been used a lot for ages though, so I don’t really see it as anything special. I do see how it might seem kind of vintagy in other countries though.

i know a man named rory who had been teased all his life for having a girls name. now when he introduces himself he says “im rory, yes i know its a girls name”

i know two female rorys in their 20s.

just something to consider i guess. i dont think its appealing for any gender, and much prefer [name]Louis[/name] or even [name]Oscar[/name] from your list. I really like [name]Louis[/name].

Thanks for the feedback so far, everyone. I feel more secure now in my decision to add them to my list.

[name]Rory[/name] being unisex in certain parts of the world is okay with me, the area I live in is densely filled with Gaelic names and I’ve never heard of a female [name]Rory[/name] so that isn’t really an issue for me.

I would be pronouncing [name]Louis[/name] as [name]Lou[/name]-ee.

I really appreciate the responses so far.

I actually really like them all. I have always loved [name]Oscar[/name] and [name]Rory[/name] is really cute and fun.
My favorite is [name]Louis[/name], and I actually love the pronunciation as lou-ee. It is so cute but manly at the same time.
Good choices.

I love [name]Oscar[/name] and [name]Louis[/name] is my preferred spelling of that name and an honorific for my Grandpa which makes it that much mroe special to me. [name]Alexander[/name] [name]Louis[/name] is on my short list of boy names. [name]Oscar[/name] sounds so open and friendly. I love O names in general. Anything with a big, round O sound in it gets my votes. I can’t say I love [name]Rory[/name]. The two r’s right next to each other make it difficult and akward to say just like [name]Aurora[/name] (a beautiful name, but the two r’s so close make it heavy). Plus, although [name]Rory[/name] is technically unisex all I can think of is [name]Gilmore[/name] Girls when I see it, so it sounds feminine to me now.

I love them all! I think [name]Rory[/name] is probably my favourite, and I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Ruaridh[/name] as well. [name]Louis[/name] has really jumped up my list lately. I’ve liked [name]Oscar[/name] for a long time, and while it isn’t my favourite, it’s a great name
