Osmond?

My husband (who is not usually one to bring name ideas to the table) has decided he loves the nickname Ozzie for a boy. Problem is, he doesn’t like Oswald because of Lee Harvey Oswald and doesn’t like Osborne because of the musician. He does, however, like Osmond. This has me wondering what your impressions or associations are with this name. Is it too strongly associated with the singing family? Also curious if it even feels like it fits with our sibset (he would be little brother to Rosalie, Leonie, Phineas (Finn)). I don’t dislike Osmond but it came out of left field to be honest and I’d love help processing through it as an option. Thanks!

[name_m]Osmond[/name_m] is sweet! I can see it on a little boy. Might be a bit difficult for a teenager to pull off. [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] is another option to get to [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m].

I like [name_m]Osmond[/name_m] a lot! Have you considered [name_m]Oswin[/name_m]? That’s one of my favorite full name for [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m], and I think it’d be perfect in your set!

I don’t know if he’s seen that one. Thanks for the suggestion!

[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was [name_m]Donny[/name_m] [name_m]Osmond[/name_m]. I’m not sure how common this association is though, he used to be my mom’s favorite singer so it’s all I can think about.

Have you considered [name_m]Osias[/name_m]? I feel like it fits better with [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], and [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] as well.

Thank you! [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] is so cute!

I knew an Osmund!! It suited him well - it has the classic vibes of [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] but [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] makes it feel fresh. [name_m]Osmond[/name_m] fits with the clunky cute vibe of [name_m]Phinneas[/name_m] “Finn” too.
[name_m]Ozias[/name_m] could be another fn for [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] too

[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was definitely The Osmunds. It’s very weird to me that he doesn’t like [name_m]Osbourne[/name_m] because of [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] but he does like [name_m]Osmund[/name_m] despite The Osmunda being arguably an even more famous singing group. I don’t hate the name but it is very closely associated so if you don’t have to get a lot of comments or have people think you’re big fans then I would probably steer clear. [name_m]Just[/name_m] wondering what’s stopping you from just using [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] as a standalone first name? I think it works better on its own if you don’t like any of the full names for it.

Another great [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] name is [name_m]Oslo[/name_m]. :woman_shrugging:

Osmond is lovely! I really like Oscar for nn Ozzie. I know a little boy with this name and he’s a dear. Or just the name Ozzie alone is great!

I’m not familiar with [name_m]Osmond[/name_m] but it’s cute and I like it! I’m not familiar with the singing family either

[name_m]Ozymandias[/name_m], [name_m]Ozias[/name_m], [name_m]Oslo[/name_m], [name_m]Osiris[/name_m], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], and [name_m]Oswin[/name_m] are other ideas to get [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] / [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m]

I love [name_m]Oswin[/name_m] and [name_m]Ozias[/name_m], but not so much [name_m]Osmond[/name_m] - it is too closely tied to [name_m]Donny[/name_m] [name_m]Osmond[/name_m] for me. Sorry

I have an [name_u]Oliver[/name_u] who calls himself [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m]. It’s a bit of a stretch but…another option
