We’re due in 6 weeks, and although we have a great list of boys names, lately I’ve been really liking the -son ending names, such as [name]Hudson[/name], [name]Grayson[/name] and [name]Harrison[/name].
Names on our list:
[name]Hudson[/name]
[name]Grayson[/name] - although I know someone who has an 11 year old girl named [name]Grayson[/name] - do you think this is off limits for us?
[name]Harrison[/name] - [name]Love[/name] it, but HATE the inevitable “[name]Harry[/name]” nickname.
[name]Bronson[/name] - it’s ok, but I find it hard to say!
[name]Emerson[/name] - I like it, but not as much as the first 3.
Also, [name]Jackson[/name] is out, since I have a friend who named her kid that.
[name]Edison[/name] (love the nn [name]Teddy[/name] for this! If the nn [name]Teddy[/name] can word for [name]Edward[/name], not [name]Edison[/name]?)
[name]Addison[/name] (generally gone to the girls, but I know of a couple of boy Addisons, I think it’s SO cool on a little boy!)
[name]Jameson[/name] (love the nn [name]Jamie[/name]!)
[name]Grayson[/name], [name]Hudson[/name], and [name]Emerson[/name] are my favorites, so I’m struggling to think of others, although I’m generally a HUGE -son fan! [name]Garrison[/name], perhaps? I don’t think it has great nn potential, though–[name]Garry[/name] or [name]Sonny[/name]…
I would [name]LOVE[/name] for you to be able to use [name]Grayson[/name]… I just adore it. But hmm, how close are you to [name]Grayson[/name]'s family? Maybe ask [name]Grayson[/name] herself–we really love [name]Grayson[/name] for our little boy, how would you feel about sharing a name with him? Something along those lines. If you’re serious about it, maybe ask the parents, too, since they already have a [name]Grayson[/name] and I wouldn’t want to infringe on them, if it would cause a rift between your families. I would ask [name]Grayson[/name] herself first, though, since kids are usually much more accepting of kids with different genders sharing the same name, and then you could always say, “Well, [name]Grayson[/name] says she’s fine with it…” when you talk to them.
I actually do not personally know this [name]Grayson[/name] girl, but her mom was my supervisor for a year, and I still see her around from time to time. We definitely don’t hang out, but are acquaintances, and say hi and have a quick chat when we see each other.
Oh, wow, haha, I figured it was an occasional friend, like that you saw every couple of weeks or so. If you’ve never even met [name]Grayson[/name], and you rarely bump into her mom (ESPECIALLY if she isn’t your supervisor anymore!), I would definitely use it if [name]Grayson[/name]'s the name you love so much! A former supervisor of mine I see rarely, and his daughter’s name is [name]Evelyn[/name]… I prefer [name]Eve[/name], and [name]Eve[/name] nn [name]Evie[/name] is on my list, but even if I preferred [name]Evelyn[/name], I would still use it. I don’t think it’d be a big deal.
[name]Bronson[/name] is my favorite, and I don’t find it hard to pronounce. I love the nn [name]Bron[/name].
I know some [name]Harrison[/name]'s and none of them are called [name]Harry[/name]. If you don’t want his nn to be [name]Harry[/name], don’t use it. Most likely you will be the ones dictating his nn.
Some others I like:
[name]Stetson[/name]
[name]Tennyson[/name] - although I like it more for a girl, nn [name]Tenny[/name]
[name]Jenson[/name]
Kitson
[name]Branson[/name]
[name]Hanson[/name]
[name]Ellison[/name]
[name]Cason[/name]
[name]Ason[/name] - I know a boy named this, though not sure on the spelling. Pronounced just A-son, like [name]Jason[/name] without the J
[name]Carson[/name]
[name]Dawson[/name]
[name]Lawson[/name]
