I think I’m running into two problems when settling on a boys name [name_f][/name_f]-
[name_f][/name_f]first, I want it to be recognizably [name_f]Irish[/name_f], in the context of midwest US. And there are names now that are so popular, the Irishness is lost [name_f][/name_f]- for example, [name_m]Liam[/name_m], Finn+, [name_m]Rowan[/name_m], etc. Tangentially, [name_m]Michael[/name_m], [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], [name_m]Timothy[/name_m], [name_m]Kevin[/name_m], all those Irish-American/Irish Catholic names.
[name_f][/name_f]two, many of the names that retain a lot of their Irishness are so new to American ears that they seem made-up, and it’s important to me that my child’s name has that history/pedigree element to it. Ex: [name_m]Quinlan[/name_m], [name_m]Lorcan[/name_m], [name_m]Breccan[/name_m], [name_m]Nevan[/name_m], etc.
