What are our thoughts and likings on [name_m]Otis[/name_m] [name_f]Alienor[/name_f]?
I don’t love [name_m]Otis[/name_m], but [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] is amazing.
I heartily dislike it. The only redeeming quality is the use of [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] in the middle.
I’m also not very keen on [name_m]Otis[/name_m].
I looked up how to say [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] and it certainly sounds nice in a [name_m]French[/name_m] accent, but all I read it as is Alien-or. Alien or what?
I absolutely dislike [name_m]Otis[/name_m] for a girl. Honestly I dislike it for a boy as well, but I cannot see it for a girl at all. [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] is okay but I cannot stop seeing/hearing “alien” in it.
I would absolutely not use [name_m]Otis[/name_m] for a girl.
I saw this in your signature earlier and was a bit confused. To me [name_m]Otis[/name_m] is completely a boys name and even then I don’t really like it. I do like [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] though, but I think it needs a similar first name.
I like [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] but [name_m]Otis[/name_m] is all male to me and I can’t picture a girl appreciating being named [name_m]Otis[/name_m].
I think what could work is [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] / [name_f]Ottoline[/name_f] [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] nn [name_m]Otis[/name_m].
Edit: another name that may work sound-wise (at least in the states) is Odessa nn Otis
I’m afraid [name_m]Otis[/name_m] isn’t really name that can cross genders in my mind. I’ve never heard [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] before - it’s pretty.
I have to agree - [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] is fabulous though!
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Alienor[/name_f], perhaps?
I adore @katinka’s suggestion of [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Alienor[/name_f]! [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] is absolutely stunning and one of my favorite names on the face of the planet. [name_m]Otis[/name_m] is fine in general, but does not work on a girl at all imo. Sorry. Until I saw that this was a post in the girls’ forum, I had no idea if you were trying to make [name_m]Otis[/name_m] work for a girl or [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] for a boy, and both are so strongly tied to one gender for me that either idea equally blew my mind. Both names are utterly lovely, just not used together in one combo for one child. Sorry.
While I’m usually a fan of unisex/maybe more masculine sounding names on girls, I just cannot see [name_m]Otis[/name_m] on a little girl. I also don’t think she’d be very fond of her own name.
However, [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] is incredibly stunning. I like the suggestions of [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f], but I think there are a lot of names that would sound beautiful next to [name_f]Alienor[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] maybe not [name_m]Otis[/name_m]. Sorry!
Isn’t [name_m]Otis[/name_m] distinctly male?
thanks for all the honest feedback!! if i was to go with Otillie, is the old/new contrast between names in my signature to much or does it still work? Ottilie [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] or Ottilie [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]? are there any other names that can work with a nn [name_m]Otis[/name_m]?
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] sits well with most of the names in your signature. It does stand out, but not in a negative way. As for the combos, I prefer [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. I don’t think [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] is the most attractive combo. [name_m]Otis[/name_m] as a nickname for [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] is rather adorable.
Another combo you may enjoy is [name_f]Lotus[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].
[name_m]Otis[/name_m] is bad enough for a boy…but to name a girl [name_m]Otis[/name_m] is downright mean.
It’s cute but I would spell [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] as [name_f]Alenor[/name_f] because I keep reading it as alien or.
bump… [name_m]Otis[/name_m] [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] or [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] or suggestions? [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] or [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] or [name_f]Alenor[/name_f]?
I like [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] just doesn’t sound great even though [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] is very pretty (and the alien thing doesn’t bother me in the slightest.) I like [name_m]Otis[/name_m] as a nickname for [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f], I would not name her [name_m]Otis[/name_m] on its own but it’s a very spunky and cute nickname in my opinion.
I did read an article in which parents renamed their baby because every time someone said her name, [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f], it sounded like “oddly” so I would be aware of that.
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] is awesome!
