I was just wondering how these names are pronounced:
[name]Ottilie[/name] (OH-til-ee, ah-[name]TIL[/name]-ee)
[name]Ephraim[/name] (eh-FRIM, ee-[name]FREE[/name]-im)
[name]Both[/name] my pronunciations could be wrong! I’m just not sure! Thanks

[name]Ottilie[/name] – [name]OTT[/name]-ill-ee
[name]Ephraim[/name] – eff-RAYM
That’s how I pronounce them, anyway
I pronounce them like this too, but again, I’m not sure either really.
[name]Ottilie[/name] - AHT til lee
[name]Ephraim[/name] - EFF rum (pronunciation I heard on a show once)
I would pronounce them exactly the same as you ^^’
[name]Ottilie[/name] - o-[name]TIL[/name]-ee-UH (you can also say O-tuh-lee, but it’s not how it’s supposed to be pronounced)
[name]Ephraim[/name] - EE-phrum
I pronounce them like this, though I’ve never actually heard them spoken so it’s just a guess.
I’ve never heard [name]Ephraim[/name] pronounced, so that was just a guess. I’ve met a few girls named [name]Ottilie[/name], and they all pronounced it [name]OTT[/name]-ill-ee, so I just assumed that was correct.
I pronounce them [name]Ott[/name]-uh-lee & EE-phrum
I don’t know how to pronounce [name]Ottilie[/name], but where I’m from, “[name]OTT[/name]” comes out as “odd” pretty much every time, so saying “[name]OTT[/name]-uh-lee” sounds awkward as heck to me, and “ODD-uh-lee” sounds like a stretched out “oddly”. The [name]German[/name] “o-TEE-lee-a” is GORGEOUS, though!
I’ve heard [name]Ephraim[/name] a few different ways: EE-free-im, ef-RAYM, EE-frum, EF-rhyme, and EFF-rum.
I know several Ephraims/Ephrems, and it’s pronounced (in English) as EFF-rum.
eff-[name]RYE[/name]-eem is the [name]Ephraim[/name] pronunciation I hear amongst Jews/Hebrew speakers, and the one I am most familiar with and know the most Ephraims actually going by it. But I’ve heard EFF-rum in English usage, along with EE-frem. I don’t mind EFF-rum.
I have strong feelings about [name]Ephraim[/name] (love it, btw) but none at all on [name]Ottilie[/name], I don’t know what the correct pronunciation of it is.
Thanks everyone! Seems like the consensus is how I would naturally say the names! We’re still building out list for baby #2 and definitely don’t want to put something on it that Im not pronouncing correctly!!
