Wondering if any one knows how to pronounce this?
I’m not 100% on my pronunciation, but I pronounce it as ott-il-line.
I don’t know the ‘right’ way to say it, but I say it the same way as fiammetta. ott-il-line.
I would pronounce it oh-[name]TILL[/name]-een or oh-TUH-leen. In general, I prefer French pronunciations- especially with names ending in -line.
I pronounce it ott-il-line as well
Thanks for the replys. I was especially wondering about the first syllable is it oh-til-line or ah-til-line?
I’d say ah not oh.
Hmm. I’d say it "Oh-[name]Teel[/name]-een_, with the emphases on the last syllable. That’s how I assume the French would pronounce it, and it seems a very French name.
If Anglicised, I suppose it woudl have to be “Aw-till-line”, with the emphasis on the first syllable.
I have never heard [name]Ottiline[/name] before.
[name]Ottoline[/name] is an English version of [name]Ottilie[/name] and is pronounced OT-uh-leen. [name]Ottilie[/name] is [name]German[/name] and pronounce o-[name]TIL[/name]-ee-UH. So I’m guessing a fusion of these would be OT-ee-leen.
I say [name]Ott[/name]-ah-leen but I’m not sure if that’s right.
