Due in [name_f]April[/name_f]! We picked out names way before even thinking about getting pregnant- and our girl name is [name_f]Juniper[/name_f] [name_f]Maya[/name_f]. Our boy name was [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], but now that I’m actually pregnant I’m not sure about [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] anymore. I’m loving [name_m]Otto[/name_m] and husband is on board, he vetoes a lot of names but doesn’t really “love” any name. He says [name_m]Otto[/name_m] is the same tier as [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] for him though. So here are my questions:
Our last name starts with D, would initials OD (overdose) be a dealbreaker for you? Husband is a paramedic and says it’s fine, but I’m checking if others might think it’s weird.
Is [name_f]Juniper[/name_f] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] too matchy? [name_f]Juniper[/name_f] is our for sure name for a girl so a future daughter would have that name if this baby is a boy.
Any other suggestions that are the same vibe as [name_m]Otto[/name_m], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], [name_m]Malachi[/name_m], [name_m]Eliot[/name_m], [name_m]Cedar[/name_m], & [name_m]August[/name_m]? (Current list. Husband vetoed [name_m]Elio[/name_m], [name_m]Asa[/name_m], [name_m]Theo[/name_m], [name_m]Alden[/name_m], & Darcy)
I think both [name_m]Otto[/name_m] and [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] are lovely names and they both work well with [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. I personally prefer [name_m]Otto[/name_m] a little more, but I don’t think you can go wrong with either.
To answer your questions:
I don’t think OD is an issue, it wouldn’t put me off using a name. To get away from the OD initials, you could always used middle initial too and go by OJD initials.
[name_f]Juniper[/name_f] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] are quite similar to look at but have different enough sounds. If they were both first names they might be too close, but as one’s a middle name I think it’s fine.
Some name suggestions:
[name_m]Otis[/name_m], [name_m]Emrys[/name_m], [name_m]Orlando[/name_m], [name_m]Abel[/name_m], [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], [name_m]Orson[/name_m], [name_f]Sage[/name_f], [name_m]Flynn[/name_m], [name_m]Monty[/name_m]
I love [name_f]Juniper[/name_f] [name_f]Maya[/name_f] such a pretty floral name with a sweet stylish vibe. Regarding your boys both [name_m]Otto[/name_m] & [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] are gorgeous.
[name_m]Otto[/name_m] is sweet, handsome name that feels quirky and has an overall soft sound. I love how sweet [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] sounds in the middle name spot with [name_m]Otto[/name_m]. [name_m]An[/name_m] overall lovely name.
[name_m]Malachi[/name_m] has always been on my radar he’s a lovely biblical choice with the gorgeous meaning ‘messenger’ he’s a prophet and has interesting religious history. I love the nickname [name_m]Kai[/name_m] as well.
I think [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is a gorgeous middle name for [name_m]Malachi[/name_m]. The overall name is lovely just like [name_m]Otto[/name_m] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m].
I it was me I would take both names to the delivery room and see which one suits him.
Regarding your questions…
For me the initials OD aren’t the best but I specifically work in a field where OD occurs frequently. I support vulnerable women who struggle with addiction amongst other things. So OD is frequently seen and I would automatically think overdose but then I think that’s more due to my role. I also think displaying his initials as OJD would work really well and avoid this whole issue.
As [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is a middle name I think this is a non issue you rarely use middle names also I think it’s a sweet tie between the siblings having the J theme.
Some suggestions could be [name_m]Evander[/name_m], [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m], [name_m]Solomon[/name_m], [name_m]Callum[/name_m], [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m], [name_m]Rupert[/name_m], [name_m]Moses[/name_m], [name_m]Linden[/name_m], [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m], [name_f]Shiloh[/name_f], [name_m]Simeon[/name_m], [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], [name_m]Gideon[/name_m], [name_m]Abel[/name_m], [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] + [name_m]Elias[/name_m]
I love both [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] and [name_m]Otto[/name_m]
[name_f]Juniper[/name_f] [name_f]Maya[/name_f] is a gorgeous name
I don’t find [name_f]Juniper[/name_f] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] too similar as one of them will be a first name and another a middle one so in this case, it’s completely fine to use them both in the sibset.
[name_m]Otto[/name_m] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is a very handsome combo and it goes very well with his sister’s name
I agreed that you’re ok with the initials OD, especially with the middle initial in there as a buffer. I don’t think [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_f]Juniper[/name_f] are too matchy for siblings as long as one of them is in the middle spot.
How about [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_m]Benaiah[/name_m], [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], Ocher (or [name_m]Ochre[/name_m] if you’re in a country that uses [name_f]British[/name_f] English) [name_m]Otis[/name_m], [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], [name_m]Rory[/name_m], [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m].
[name_m]Otto[/name_m] and [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] are both great names. I don’t think OD (which could easily be OJD) are problematic initials. [name_f]Juniper[/name_f] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] are quite matchy, but it doesn’t sound like you’re thinking about using [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] as a first name, so that shouldn’t be an issue.
I don’t think anyone will notice or care much about OD but if it were me, once I had noticed it, I probably wouldn’t be able to go through with it.
I don’t find Juniper and Jasper too matchy, even as two firsts, that is, unless they’re boy/girl twins, then too matchy!
I like the substantialness of Malachi and the charm of Otto. Others like them: Otis, Solomon, Griffin, Emrys, Beckett, Sebastian, Murphy, Orion, Isaac, Jude, Wilfred, Edward, Micah, Calvin, Patrick, Winston, Kiernan, Hugo & Brooks.
(I would take Eliot off list as seems more Fem these days. August would only be a middle for me, love it, but too popular and I don’t warm to the nn’s for it).
If I saw it written down I wouldn’t think much of it, especially if I knew I was looking at a set of initials if that makes sense? Since you’re not going to be calling him ‘OD’ or ‘Odie’, imo it’s fine.
If it [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] was the first name, I’d lean more towards ‘yes’ but [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] as a middle is fine.
[name_m]Otto[/name_m] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is nice! I like [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] better, but I’m a big [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] fan. (I think either one is lovely with [name_f]Juniper[/name_f] [name_f]Maya[/name_f], by the way—wow! She’s so lovely!). As long as [name_f]Juniper[/name_f] is a first name and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is a middle… I think it’s fine to use both!
