Our Baby Bear

Our son [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] Hummingbird arrived on [name_u]August[/name_u] 1st 2017. [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] was a last-minute idea I had that my husband loved instantly. We think it bridges the styles of the top names on our list very well as [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] is clunky, bearlike and old man-ish such as [name_m]Albert[/name_m] but is also fresh, O-ending and European-style like [name_m]Hugo[/name_m].

We’re overjoyed by his safe arrival and are mentally smacking ourselves for not considering [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] earlier on  . [name_u]Baby[/name_u]'s older siblings are [name_m]Peter[/name_m] Nightingale, [name_f]Sabina[/name_f] Mayflower and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] Wildrose who have met him already and can’t wait for him and mommy to come home.

What a beautiful choice and stunning sibset! Congratulations!

I absolutely love the names of your children! They all sound so beautiful together, and [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] Hummingbird is so so cute.
Congratulations!!

Fantastic name! I love all the middle choices of your children, they really make the first names fresh and new.

[name_m]Bruno[/name_m] is such a great choice, I can’t believe it doesn’t get more use! It’s fab with your other kids’ names too. Congratulations

Congratulations! What an offbeat, unexpected choice!

[name_m]Bruno[/name_m] Hummingbird is so so handsome! What a lovely choice, and I love seeing Hummingbird used! The combo works beautifully with his siblings as well! Congratulations!!

^^
I am just swooning over your gorgeous choice! <3 Hummingbird is delightful with warm, unexpected Bruno. The name makes me think of my little brother (who is not so little anymore) who sometimes sneaks up on me while I’m cooking for him or some-such and just envelops me in a warm, loving hug. Hoping your Bruno will be an awesome, happy and thankful little boy who brings you countless moments of joy!
Congratulations!!

Congratulations! OMG, [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] is utterly handsome and goes wonderful with your kids names.

I remember your older children’s names, it must’ve been from when [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] was born! Absolutely beautiful sibset, I love their inventive nature middle names. Congratulations on the arrival of little [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] xx

Absolutely gorgeous! Congratulations!

I love the name [name_m]Bruno[/name_m]! Congratulations!

Congrats! Your kiddos have some of the best names I’ve seen, I love them!

You berries are all so sweet, thank you for the praises and beautiful words. I don’t think any other name could suit my little boy more than [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] since he’s such a cuddly and calm little one, so far at least, and I hope it stays this way.

@dearest, the way you described the name [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] and how it reminds you of your brother and those sweet little moments of tenderness and childlike affection and adoration are just how I always imagined him to be like.

Congratulations on your beautifully named baby boy, @thomasina! I’m hopelessly crushing on [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] now myself!

[name_m]Bruno[/name_m] Hummingbird is fantastic! Congratulations @[name_f]Thomasina[/name_f]

[name_m]Bruno[/name_m] is a great name…strong, fresh…I can just picture him! I don’t think the effeminate, itty-bitty birdie Hummingbird middle name goes well with [name_m]Bruno[/name_m]… I get your thing with birds and flowers, but [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] Woodpecker would have been a much stronger, more masculine name.

Thanks for the compliment on [name_m]Bruno[/name_m], though I disagree with you in many ways when you suggest Woodpecker because it appears more masculine.

I chose Hummingbird because they are some of my favorite species of birds (I would have used it regardless of my child’s sex) and they bring back memories from my childhood. They are also beautiful creatures.

I don’t want to force an idea of masculinity onto my boys like that, mainly because I want them to grow up with as little of that toxic social construct and demand as possible.

Also, my son is already named and registered and given that fact it was a bit rude of you to question/criticize a middle name he already has. I wasn’t asking for opinions or constructive criticism on this thread but was just announcing the choice my husband and I made that works perfectly for us and that we think fits our baby.

I hate to be pedantic or sound overly defensive, but it’s my opinion on the subject and gender neutral is how I try to as much as possible raise my kids.

Take a bow, @thomasina!

This is the birth announcements forum, hardly the place for snide “constructive” criticism of a name choice already made.

I’m rarely confrontational on here because I’m out to enjoy names, not make enemies, so I tend to just ignore when I see off comments. But your wording is pretty offensive and belittling @susette!

[name_m]Bruno[/name_m] Hummingbird is gorgeous, congrats! I’ve been crushing on [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] lately and it’s so nice to see it being used!
