Hello berries, it’s been a while since I visited this site but I need your help. [name_f]My[/name_f] baby girl was born 3 weeks ago and she still doesn’t have a name. I went to the hospital with [name_f]Arianwen[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Calandra[/name_f] [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]. However, when our baby came we weren’t sure what to name her. We still don’t know. We tried calling her [name_f]Arianwen[/name_f] (one of our fav names, but it didn’t feel right… we even tried [name_f]Aria[/name_f] and [name_u]Ari[/name_u]) and [name_f]Calandra[/name_f] ([name_u]Cal[/name_u], [name_f]Callie[/name_f]). [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t get me wrong, both [name_f]Arianwen[/name_f] and [name_f]Calandra[/name_f] are beautiful but they just don’t suit our daughter. I love the short form [name_f]Aria[/name_f] or [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] but they are way too popular in our area.
We already have a beautiful daughter called Feyre [name_f]Dawn[/name_f] who goes by [name_f]Fae[/name_f] or [name_f]Effie[/name_f]. Other names we considered but can’t use at the moment are [name_f]Orla[/name_f] and [name_f]Aoife[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband mentioned [name_f]Eirian[/name_f] the other day. It’s magical and beautiful but is it usuable? What other names would you suggest? Please help.
If you are still reading is it okay to use an autumnal middle name (the season we got married) even though the baby wasn’t born during the fall? What’s your fav autumnal name?
I think that [name_f]Eirian[/name_f] is beautiful and perfectly usable next to Feyre! Also, I think an autumnal middle name is fine, although I can’t think of any jumping out at me at the moment. What about:
[name_f]Amoret[/name_f]
[name_f]Calanthe[/name_f]
[name_f]Acantha[/name_f]
[name_f]Arianell[/name_f]
Aelenor
[name_f]Calliope[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Eirian[/name_f] is very usable. At least, I don’t see any immediate issue jump out at me with [name_f]Eirian[/name_f]. It is magical and beautiful. Plus Feyre & [name_f]Eirian[/name_f] are incredible sisters.
Ooh, I’ve never heard Feyre before, but that’s beautiful! Is [name_f]Eirian[/name_f] usable for her baby sister? I don’t know…I wouldn’t do it. I feel like it is sort of too associated w/WW2.
Here are a few other ideas that you may like for the little one…
[name_f]Anwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Aviva[/name_f]
[name_f]Branwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Calliope[/name_f]
[name_f]Eowyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]

[name_f]Solana[/name_f]
[name_f]Saoirse[/name_f]
[name_f]Soleil[/name_f]
[name_u]Skye[/name_u]
And an autumnal mn would be lovely. Maybe a flower that blooms in fall?
[name_f]Aster[/name_f]
Celosia
[name_f]Viola[/name_f]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Verbena[/name_f]
Sunflower-maybe too much, but kind of cute!
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
Or a fall-ish bird? All I can find is [name_u]Sparrow[/name_u] or maybe Goldfinch. That’d be pretty fun.
I don’t love the sound of [name_f]Eirian[/name_f]. It reminds me of [name_m]Aryan[/name_m] sooo not a big fan.
Other ideas:
[name_f]Calista[/name_f]
[name_f]Calliope[/name_f]
[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_f]Carys[/name_f]
[name_f]Bronwen[/name_f]
Yes, I believe it’s perfectly okay to use an autumn middle name regardless of when the baby was born. I’m all about using names that have significance so it would absolutely be a great way to honor the season you were married.
I think it’s so important to meet your baby before choosing your name. If [name_f]Eirian[/name_f] is now appearing in your husband’s mind, it may be what’s right for her. I think it’s usable, it’s very pretty in the way it’s written out, I’m just not sure how it’s pronounced. Is it like [name_m]Arian[/name_m]?
Eirian pronouncelike [name_m]Arian[/name_m]? I feel like that’s maybe not an appropriate name and tied to Kkk but maybe I’m misunderstanding the pronunciation?? I like [name_f]Elva[/name_f] for u.
I like both [name_f]Eirian[/name_f] and [name_f]Aoife[/name_f], but as people have pointed out [name_f]Eirian[/name_f] might have a problem being too similar to [name_m]Aryan[/name_m], (even though I have heard it pronounced ‘EYE’-rien? I feel like at least in the US it could easily be pronounced ‘AIR’-rien) and personally I feel [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] might be too similar to [name_f]Effie[/name_f], I like your style though.
And I think you can it would be fine to use an autumnal name.
I like your names, though I agree that [name_f]Eirian[/name_f] sounds a bit close to [name_m]Aryan[/name_m].
Sidonie nn Sido
[name_f]Indre[/name_f]
[name_f]Eulalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Zinaida[/name_f] (zee-nah-ee-dah)
[name_f]Devora[/name_f]
[name_f]Zoraida[/name_f]
[name_f]Idalis[/name_f]
[name_f]Sorcha[/name_f]
[name_f]Beata[/name_f]
[name_f]Idony[/name_f]
[name_f]Lykke[/name_f]
[name_f]Mette[/name_f]
[name_f]Svea[/name_f]
Åska (OH-ska - Not a name, that I know of anyway. It’s the swedish word for thunder / thunderstorm)
[name_f]Eluned[/name_f] nn [name_m]Ned[/name_m] could be cute
[name_f]Lowri[/name_f]
[name_f]Olwen[/name_f]
Readihn your names [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] and [name_u]Wren[/name_u] come to mind as similar but slightly simpler options. Fall themed middle [name_u]Harvest[/name_u].
Honestly I feel like [name_f]Eirian[/name_f] is perfect for you, especially if you pronounce it eye-ree-anne. [name_f]Irie[/name_f] is a darling nn or even [name_f]Annie[/name_f].
Having said that! [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] is another Welsh option with the nickname [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]. And it means elm tree
At first I immediately jumped at [name_f]Eirian[/name_f], but I agree with the other users that it sdaly may be pronounced to similar to [name_m]Aryan[/name_m] even if that’s not what it’s supposed to sound like
There have been lots of good suggestions- I like:
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_f]Eluned[/name_f]
[name_f]Carys[/name_f]
[name_f]Eira[/name_f]
[name_f]Eirlys[/name_f]
[name_f]Ianthe[/name_f]
[name_f]Eila[/name_f]
[name_f]Elara[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleri[/name_f]
[name_f]Enya[/name_f]
[name_f]Brynna[/name_f]
[name_f]Eilonwy[/name_f]
[name_f]Nimue[/name_f]
[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]
Thank you everyone! I didn’t think about [name_m]Aryan[/name_m]/Eirian association as they don’t sound the same to me. We pronounce it eye-ree-an or aye-ree-an but I guess we should keep looking for the right name
We love [name_f]Eira[/name_f] but it’s way too close to our daughter’s name. [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] is gorgeous but I am afraid it would be shortened to [name_f]Elle[/name_f]/Ellie (we know 5 little Ellies). [name_f]Carys[/name_f], [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] and [name_f]Branwen[/name_f] are amazing!
