I could use some rational people in my life! My taste is classic and elegant-but I am afraid of being boring. Our last name is three syllables long and begins with a C. Please tell me your honest thoughts on these top choices. And if you have any others in mind that you think I might like, please let me know.
[name]Mary[/name] (possible middle names of [name]Kate[/name] or [name]Eliza[/name])
[name]Eve[/name] (nickname [name]Evie[/name], middle name [name]Caroline[/name])
[name]Mary[/name] is very bland to me, sorry. I do think it’s a little bit of a boring choice unless its to honour family.
[name]Eve[/name] is much better, sweet and simple. I would prefer [name]Eva[/name], [name]Evelina[/name] but [name]Eve[/name] is still nice. [name]Eva[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] would also sounds a lot better.
Well, I find both traditional and conservative, but not boring! That is my taste. If you feel bored by them, then by all means dress them up, but not everyone will react that way. I find [name]Mary[/name] very refreshing. I have never known a little [name]Mary[/name] and only one young [name]Mary[/name]. It is mainly a name I know on old women but not in a bad way. I love some of the nicknames for it in the old school way like [name]Mae[/name], [name]Mamie[/name], [name]Molly[/name]. You can use those to make it more fun. Or perhaps since you like one syllable [name]Eve[/name] you like simple [name]Mae[/name]/[name]May[/name]? That is a very spunky name : D!
I do think [name]Mary[/name] has a long enough history that she does deserve a somewhat dressier middle name. [name]Mary[/name] [name]Kate[/name] is really lightweight. [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] is pretty solid although so evocative of traditional [name]Mary[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] that it might lose some points. I love personally [name]Mary[/name] [name]Helena[/name], [name]Mary[/name] [name]Louisa[/name] ([name]Mary[/name] [name]Lou[/name]?), [name]Mary[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Mary[/name] [name]Keziah[/name], there are lots of dressy middles you could put on there.
[name]Eve[/name] too is lovely, and [name]Eve[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] is very elegant. [name]Eva[/name] is also lovely if you find it a little more exciting, although it is far more popular, so in some ways again [name]Eve[/name] is more refreshing. [name]Eve[/name] [name]Carolina[/name] or [name]Eve[/name] [name]Coraline[/name], [name]Eve[/name] [name]Coralie[/name] or [name]Eve[/name] [name]Cordelia[/name] would be another mildly more exotic way to go.
They are not boring at all. I like that they are classy, not trendy.
I have always loved [name]Marie[/name] as a fn. I can’t picture [name]Mary[/name] on a little girl though.
You might like [name]Miriam[/name], [name]Marigold[/name], [name]Marguerite[/name], or [name]Marcella[/name].
If you want something different, my mother-in-law’s name is Marilea ([name]Mary[/name]-[name]Lee[/name]).
[name]Eve[/name] is darling!
I think [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] is a wonderful name! [name]Mary[/name] may be “boring” to some but not to me. You don’t meet a whole lot of [name]Marys[/name] these days (unless they’re older) and I think [name]Eliza[/name] adds a bit of spice to it. To me, [name]Mary[/name] is an adorable little girl that grows into a strong woman with good sense and a good upbringing. [name]Don[/name]'t use [name]Kate[/name] as a middle name, that ruins it for me with the [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Kate[/name] and [name]Ashley[/name] association. I wouldn’t worry about being boring, just go with what you love!
I think they are lovely. I like the combination of [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] the most. I think [name]Eve[/name] is such a pretty, classic name. [name]Eve[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] is gorgeous. I don’t think it’s boring at all.
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Mary[/name] and it’s not at all boring in my opinion! [name]Mary[/name] [name]Kate[/name] is lovely and [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] is nice as well. I like [name]Eve[/name], but not nearly as much as [name]Mary[/name]…[name]Mary[/name] is so seldom heard and sounds so fresh on a baby / child. To me it’s pretty crazy that [name]Mary[/name] was the most popular name for so long and now it’s rare. Variations of [name]Eve[/name] are so common. My vote goes to [name]Mary[/name].
lol, I don’t think your choices are boring at all! [name]Eve[/name] and [name]Mary[/name] are both charming, and refreshing these days! I don’t know one little [name]Mary[/name] and I think it’d be so lovely to meet someone with such a classic name! My vote goes to [name]Eve[/name], though–I think she’s so sweet and charming and the nn [name]Evie[/name] is oh-so-sweet.
[name]Mary[/name] and [name]Eve[/name] are absolutely lovely names. [name]Mary[/name] is on my list and [name]Eve[/name] would be, too, if my brother’s name wasn’t [name]Adam[/name].
I dont believe they are boring at all. [name]Mary[/name] has so much history and is not as common as it used to be. I really like [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name], it is very pretty. And eve is pretty too but I slightly prefer eva, but eve caroline is very pretty. Either way, they are both very pretty names.
I’ll join the chorus - [name]Mary[/name] and [name]Eve[/name] are both excellent choices. They feel fresh now that [name]Maria[/name] and [name]Eva[/name] are the more common versions.
I find both names classic. I really like [name]Eve[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] and also the suggestion of [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eve[/name]. Good luck!
Not a fan of [name]Mary[/name] or [name]Eve[/name]. Too boring. There are a veritable rainbow of names to choose from, try [name]Beatrice[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Cora[/name], anything else would be more distinguishing. Good luck : )
My all time favourite combo is [name]Ava[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]. Yes [name]Ava[/name] is popular but what a beautiful name! otherwise [name]Eva[/name] [name]Juliet[/name], [name]Eva[/name] [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Anna[/name] [name]Katherine[/name], [name]Bridget[/name] [name]Mary[/name] nn [name]Bridie[/name]
no mary is as sweet as pie…
[name]Eve[/name] is fine but I think more people are doing this right now…eva, eve, ava, ada…ae, it’s just sort of like …when you check your facebook you see someone had a baby girl and it’s either a vowel name or belle something or C…
but an M name is great! I agree with the pp [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eve[/name] is cute, but I think anytime [name]Eve[/name] is the mn it invokes “summers eve” reminders…so I say go with [name]Mary[/name] and use a longer mn…
[name]Eve[/name] is BACK on trend, like pp said. I have a little 3-year-old [name]Eve[/name] and at the time we named her I totally didn’t realize that [name]Ava[/name] and other short vowel names were so in vogue. We get LOTS of compliments on her name though and I think we would still go with [name]Eve[/name] again. I don’t think you need to worry about [name]Eve[/name] being boring, simply because we are currently “riding a wave” that makes this little name right on trend without trading in any of her classic beauty.
[name]Mary[/name], to me, is still just slightly on the boring side but only slightly. It’s certainly NOT a common name anymore, and I also think [name]Mary[/name] is coming into the category of old classics that are kind of refreshing to see on a little girl again. I have definitely seen more Mollys around lately so that does seem to be the more popular take on the name these days, but like the suggestions above you could use [name]Molly[/name] (or [name]Mae[/name], etc) to make the name more “popular” for now while still giving your daughter a fabulous classic to use professionally (honestly I’m having a hard time seeing these darling little girl Mollys all grown up and applying for jobs at law firms).
If you feel the need to make things more “interesting” why not throw in an unexpected/unusual middle name, like [name]Mary[/name] [name]Gwendolen[/name], [name]Mary[/name] [name]Zara[/name], [name]Eve[/name] [name]Elodie[/name], [name]Eve[/name] [name]Arianna[/name]?
[name]Eve[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] is very classic and it’s beautiful, without having any kind of “old lady” strings attached. I think any girl would be fortunate indeed to be named as well as this.
