Our Baby Name Ideas

Boys:
David [name]Joe[/name] [name]Allen[/name]
[name]Liam[/name] [name]Christopher[/name] [name]Michael[/name]
Noah [name]Robert[/name] [name]Donnie[/name]

Girls:
[name]Emmalina[/name] Halo Summer
[name]Serenity[/name] Marie Lightning

[name]Jeff[/name] and I have been thinking of future names lately and have decided on these five because we always said we wouldn’t want to have more then five kids and since we decided if we had two girls we would stop so we only planned the two names.

We love the double mn we picked out especially sense most of them are family names and figured might as well go with double mn for all of them.

[name]Jeff[/name] has always wanted a boy named [name]David[/name] and since i have never been keen on the name we settled on the spelling Dayvid so i could use the nickname [name]Day[/name] “My [name]Sunny[/name] [name]Day[/name]” then Dayvids mn [name]Joe[/name] is a middle name passed on through the boys in my family and [name]Allan[/name] is the middle name passed down through [name]Jeff[/name]'s family.

Now [name]Liam[/name] is just a name I love and it works perfect with my brothers names [name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Michael[/name] and i think it just flows nicely and it just fits, also my step fathers mn also happens to be [name]Michael[/name].

[name]Emmalina[/name] ([name]Emma[/name]-[name]LEE[/name]-nah), this is a name i instantly fell in love with my grandmothers middle name is [name]Emmalina[/name] (named for a sister of hers who passed away) and i knew at the age of 13 when i heard it that i would always be using this name, Halo is not only a angel refrence but also the video game Jeff and I are in love with, i am currently on a career path to designing video games and we love this name for a girl [name]Summer[/name] is my step mothers maiden name.

[name]Serenity[/name] is named after the spaceship on the tv show firefly (please say you have seen it <3) plus it is also a beautiful name, [name]Marie[/name] is my mothers middle name and i love that i am getting everyone of my family members names together. Lightning is the name of the character in Final Fantasy 13 who is a complete bad-ass and self explanatory, anyway most our names are normal and family names and so we had a bit of fun with Halo’s names

We love the name Noah!, his mn Robert Donnie are because of Jeffs uncles Robert and Donny who passed away and they had so much meaning to him that i knew without saying he would want them to be remembered that way, ill post a list below of the hair color names we have.

Also our last name is Bullis

Well we just wanted to share and figured people may have thoughts ect.

Thanks for all of your guys help i really appreciate it!!

I don’t like them. Especially Dayvid. That poor kid will have to always correct people on how to spell his name every day of his life. Why would you make it harder on him? You can still use the nn [name]Day[/name] and spell the name correctly.

The only name I like from your list is [name]Liam[/name] [name]Christopher[/name] [name]Michael[/name], [name]Emmalina[/name] is okay but she’ll be lost in a sea of Emmas and Emmies. Halo [name]Serenity[/name] Lightning is just plain awful. If I was given that name I would resent my parents forever.

Definitely nms.

Dayvid just looks like a poor misspelling and attempt at being original, which it’s not. I think it cheapens the overall name and is kind of obnoxious, if I’m honest. I’d rather just name him David, and nickname him Day.
Joe and Allan in the same middle name combo is rather boring, I’d rather a longer version of Joe like Joseph Allan. I under stand it’s a passed on middle name, but does it really have to be exact?

Liam is great, I’m a fan. Christopher and Michael sound great together, it’s just a tad unoriginal. Liam’s so common, and Christopher and Michael are both your brother’s names and “common” names themselves.

Emmalina is flawless, adore it. Summer is nice, I like it in the middle. Marie is a sweet touch.

Halo is just over the top. While your husband and yourself are into video games, you child may not be. I think to name them after a video game is just a bit too much. Especially since Serenity is also a video game tie. It also feel out of sync with the other names. Serenity I like a lot. Lightning is overkill with Halo and Serenity in the same name. Plus Halo with your last name sound like a type of cloud or something, not a person’s name. I would not want to be a Halo Serenity Lighting.

It honestly feels like you crammed all your family names with your first four, and then just threw together some ideas for the last one to try to be cool. :frowning:

With the potential first for ______ Robert Donny I like, Zack, Zander, Mason. The rest I’m not a fan of. Robery Donny reminds me of Robert Downey JR., and he’s just all sorts of awesome so I like that reference.

David, Liam, Emmalina, and something like Hayley or Haven would be a much better improvement imo.

I agree with all of this!

well. lightning is a new one. hmm.

im curious though – if you want five kids why would you stop after two girls? Are you saying if you have two girls first you wont have anymore kids? [name]Just[/name] being nosey… but since you mentioned it, I dont get it

Dayvid [name]Joe[/name] [name]Allan[/name] - Please don’t spell [name]David[/name] -Dayvid, it just looks ridiculous
[name]Liam[/name] [name]Christopher[/name] [name]Michael[/name] - NMS but fine
“First” [name]Robert[/name] [name]Donny[/name] - He’ll get robert downey. (it sounds funny together)

Girls:
[name]Emmalina[/name] [name]Summer[/name] [name]Marie[/name] - pretty, sounds made up, but that’s fine.
Halo [name]Serenity[/name] Lightning - just mean of you. It’s nice that it has meaning for you, but your child has to live with it their whole life. This child is a candidate for name changing, if I’ve ever seen one. No one wants to be named for a trendy video game.

Thanks for the thoughts, we will keep them in mind.

I guess with Dayvid the whole spelling thing doesn’t really bother me because my name has always been misspelled with a C and [name]Jeff[/name]'s name has always been spelt [name]Jeffrey[/name] when its actually [name]Jeffery[/name] and we dealt with it but i can see your concern, we aren’t trying to be trendy ect. but i just feel kinda bored with the name [name]David[/name], but [name]Jeff[/name] has loved it since he was little, maybe we could figure something else out but its sorta difficult.

[name]Joseph[/name] is my brother [name]Michael[/name]'s middle name and sense they are step (although i have known them my whole life) i wouldn’t want to put a family mn from the Watrous side in there when it’s supposed to be [name]Joe[/name].

Dayvid [name]Joe[/name] [name]Allan[/name], [name]Emmalina[/name] [name]Summer[/name] [name]Marie[/name], this is a name just like [name]Liam[/name] [name]Christopher[/name] [name]Michael[/name] are set for us although the spelling of Dayvid may be negotiable on my part if i can find a way to love [name]David[/name]… blah i just wish i loved it for [name]Jeff[/name].

I guess how Halo’s name could seem like we threw them together, the explanation for this can also be explained in my answer to runningkate’s question, we are just not that good with girls names or girls in general, for the first part of [name]Jeff[/name]'s after highschool life he had to watch his sisters daughter, he taught her all the necessities and even took care of her when her mother was out drinking when he could have been working or going to college he had to deal with being a father when he actually wasn’t and so he vowed he would never have any girls. I on the other hand have always been a tomboy, i dont even remember having a girl friend outside of girlscouts until middle school and unlike the guy friends they dissapeared frequently in a haze of drama and fighting, so if i just decided if i had two girls i wouldn’t want to risk a third because personally neither of us think we can handle it. The name is just our way of trying to find the perfect name when the only girls names we like are from video games/ movies because that’s what we relate too, but i can see how she may not like those things so we may review that, personally i have had thoughts lately on how normal our other kids names would be compared too Halo’s but [name]Jeff[/name] is in love with the name.

[name]Robert[/name] [name]Donny[/name] has too much meaning for [name]Jeff[/name], plus i love [name]Robert[/name] Downy [name]Jr[/name] ;3.

We have sometime before be need to be completly set in stone and we may move their mn around, and like i said i may be open to changing the spelling of Dayvid’s name =____=

Anyway again i appreciate the thoughts and criticism, we welcome it all actually.

Your idea of calling him “My [name]Sunny[/name] [name]Day[/name]” is cute, but you could still do that if you spelled it [name]David[/name] instead of Dayvid. The extra “Y” just seems like it would be an inconvenience for him and ultimately not worth it when you can call him [name]Day[/name] either way you spell it.

I understand wanting to name your kid after things that you love (especially Firefly! I love that show :)), but Halo [name]Serenity[/name] Lightning is just too many nouns for me. Why not try mixing up the [name]Emmalina[/name] and Halo combos? That way if you had two girls they could each have both family names and names from things you love. Something like [name]Emmalina[/name] Halo [name]Summer[/name] and [name]Serenity[/name] [name]Marie[/name] Lightning, maybe. They sound more like sisters that way, plus they’re kind of quirky and cool without being too “out there.”

I quite like your [name]Liam[/name] and [name]Emmalina[/name] combos! My favourite options for the third boy are [name]Zander[/name] and [name]Rory[/name].

Dayvid is awful! You can name your kid [name]David[/name] and still call him [name]Day[/name]! It doesn’t have to spelled that way, [name]Kathrine[/name]'s spell their names as [name]Katie[/name] and it doesn’t match up!

Emmelina and [name]Serenity[/name] make a better set than Emmelina and Halo. I think you should switch it around to be [name]Serenity[/name] Halo and Lightning? Lightning is not a name imo so I dislike it. I like imogen’s suggestion actually of [name]Emmalina[/name] Halo and [name]Serenity[/name] [name]Marie[/name], that why you’re not putting all your hobbies into one name.

[name]David[/name] may grow on me, [name]Jeff[/name] would be happier if it was spelt correctly anyway.

[name]Emmalina[/name] Halo [name]Summer[/name] and [name]Serenity[/name] [name]Marie[/name] Lightning, now that’s actually something i really love, thanks for that! I bet [name]Jeff[/name] will love it too when i tell him.

Quirky now that’s a word that people call [name]Jeff[/name] and I all the time so i hope our kids would be just as quirky, and if the name fits even better.

I also love reading each persons favorite on our third boys name.

Again thanks for all the thoughts

sigh The only thing I’d like to comment on that hasn’t already been covered is the “first name relating to hair color” thing. I know a lot of people do this and it’s not so unusual but when I was born I had flame red hair until I was six months old. I’ve been blond ever since. And my sister was born with black hair and within a few weeks it changed to a light brown. I hear this happens all the time with babies. So, I understand the attraction to naming by hair color, but that initial color usually doesn’t stick around for long!

p.s. Dayvid is awful.

Also [name]Jeff[/name] was wondering how you guys felt about the name [name]Tobias[/name] for the third boys name, i love the name [name]Tobias[/name] but i really dont think it flows well with his last name so i was wondering what you guys thought

[name]Emmalina[/name]- frilly but pretty
[name]Liam[/name]- [name]Love[/name]
[name]David[/name] nn [name]Day[/name]- Nice, classic
[name]Tobias[/name]- quirky/ funky name! cool
[name]Robert[/name]- classic NMS
Halo… doesn’t match other names as well- BUT have an idea. What about a name that means [name]Angel[/name]? eg has a HALO??? eg Angelie

I think the spelling of [name]David[/name] you have used is a bit overdone. The y looks out of place, especially next to the v. Also, like pps, I like [name]Emmalina[/name] Halo [name]Summer[/name] & [name]Serenity[/name] [name]Marie[/name] Lightning better than the first combos. Yet, I still am not keen on Lightning. It just doesn’t seem like it belongs, especially on a girl. Why not go with [name]Luz[/name], a girl’s name that is spanish (i think) for light, which is close to lightning and can have a hidden meaning to you and your husband without actually putting the name Lightning in your daughter’s name…

I didn’t notice the hair color thing, but I defiantly wouldn’t do that! I know plenty of blondes whose hair turned brown! My hair was brown and now it’s almost black, people say it’s black until they see me with my mom and realize it’s just a really dark brown like my eyes.

Okay okay, [name]Jeff[/name] and you guys have worn me down ill just use the [name]David[/name] spelling.

Yeah the hair color thing came about because [name]Jeff[/name] and i had a hard time deciding on the name because we wanted [name]Tobias[/name], but [name]Tobias[/name] Bullis sounds kind of odd and so we had too many other choices.

I edited the name list to reflect the suggestions we have received, I thank you all for your help

i love [name]Tobias[/name] but i was thinking maybe [name]Tobiah[/name] or [name]Tobin[/name] would work better, although im kinda worried about the flow with Bullis.

As a complete tomboy who used to work
In the Games industry and looked after siblings when my father died aged 36, I’m currently sitting in hospital having had twin girls after our first DD.
I am honestly say that when they are yours, it’s completely different. You’re spellbound and gender doesn’t come into it.
I really like Halo and see where you are going with Dayvid, [name]Serenity[/name] is lovely, but Lightning is a bit silly.
Good luck!

Also [name]Jeff[/name] and i decided on our third son’s name, [name]Noah[/name] [name]Robert[/name] [name]Donnie[/name] Bullis  we instantly loved [name]Noah[/name] more then [name]Tobias[/name].
