Our Boy's List

Well, the time has come to officially start narrowing down our name lists…I am pregnant! Yay! We really like to have the baby’s name chosen shortly after we find out the sex (we settled on our daughters name 4 days after we knew she was a girl).

Here is our boy’s list:

[name]Miles[/name]
[name]Graham[/name]
[name]Reid[/name]
[name]Grant[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Pierce[/name]

Our middle name options are [name]James[/name] (or [name]Jameson[/name]), [name]Henry[/name], [name]Lewis[/name] and [name]Samuel[/name].

We have also considered using the family names ([name]James[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]Lewis[/name], [name]Samuel[/name] and [name]Charles[/name]) as first names and calling our son (if we have a boy) by his middle name (my husband and his father both do this).

Thank you all!!!

Congrats!

Honestly, you’ve got a really great list. They’re all classic, handsome, straight forward names. You can’t go wrong with any of them, I’ll try and put them in order from favorite to least favorite. But like I said, they’re all really good.

[name]Miles[/name]
[name]Grant[/name]
[name]Reid[/name]
[name]Pierce[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Graham[/name]

[name]Charles[/name] [name]Grant[/name], [name]Charles[/name] [name]Pierce[/name], [name]Charles[/name] [name]Reid[/name]

[name]Do[/name] you mind sharing your daughter’s name?

I love [name]Oliver[/name], but if it doesn’t pair up well with your daughter’s name, I’d scratch it off the list. [name]How[/name] do the two names flow together? Are they similar in style, or does one seem completely out of place with the other? [name]Just[/name] something for you to consider!

You have a GREAT list of names here. Congrats to you!

Our daughter’s name is [name]Avery[/name] [name]Virginia[/name]. Personally, I think our list works well with her name…I also am not that concerned with “matching” a boys name to [name]Avery[/name]'s style, etc. Our girl’s list is a little different, I don’t want the two names to be complete opposites of each other, but we will go with a name that we love rather than one that works perfectly style wise, etc.

Is [name]Pierce[/name] [name]James[/name] to choppy because of the two one-syllable names?

I like these a lot:

[name]Miles[/name] [name]Henry[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]James[/name]
[name]Graham[/name] [name]Lewis[/name]

[name]James[/name] [name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Pierce[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name] [name]Pierce[/name]

My favorites from the primary list are [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Miles[/name]. [name]Miles[/name] [name]Lewis[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Samuel[/name] would be my combo picks. I’d recommend against using the middle name as the name you call him, for the reason that in the computer age it can cause unnecessary hassles since many databases will list his “first” name and they’ll call him that. It might have worked better for your husband’s or his father’s generation, but with modern technology and the government being stricter on “ID matches” I think unless there is a good reason for doing so (like an exact [name]Junior[/name] or undesirable intials/flow) it will make things easier to put the name you call him up front. Sorry if I sounded a bit harsh, but I also like to look at name choices from a practical viewpoint.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Miles[/name] with [name]Avery[/name]!

namefan,

Not harsh at all. I have considered that time and time again. Whenever my husband is at the doctor, on official documents, etc., they all have him listed by his first name and that is weird when you do not go by it.

Thanks!

bedhead,

I like [name]Miles[/name] with [name]Avery[/name] as well…[name]Miles[/name] [name]Henry[/name].
