Our daughter will NEVER have a name!!!!! :)

Hello!!! This is my first post. My husband and I can NOT agree on a name for our baby girl due in [name]August[/name]. He likes traditional names (his top pick is [name]Grace[/name]) and I like somewhat unique names (my picks are [name]Livia[/name], [name]Brenyn[/name], [name]Mikayla[/name], etc). I think this has to do with our own names he has a traditional boy name, [name]Matt[/name], and I have a unique girl name, [name]Kassidy[/name]. We know her middle name will be [name]Delane[/name] or [name]Delani[/name] ([name]Delaney[/name]) after my dad. What really makes all this harder is that we both come from large families and have to have that play into account. Any help you may have is appreciated!!!

ETA: I also wanted to mention that I kinda like unisex names to…[name]Noah[/name], [name]Scout[/name], Cashin, etc.

We are in the same boat…only I am due next month! Thought I would share some of our options:

[name]Layla[/name]
[name]Romy[/name]
[name]Estee[/name]
[name]Edie[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name]
[name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Gia[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name]/[name]Penny[/name]
[name]Milla[/name]
[name]Bay[/name]
[name]Roxie[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Sofia[/name]
[name]Lia[/name]/[name]Lea[/name]
[name]Lainey[/name]
[name]Peri[/name]
[name]Devon[/name]/[name]Devi[/name]

[name]Hope[/name] that helps?

As a [name]Grace[/name], I have to say it’s a good choice. I’ve always loved my name.

What about traditional names with spunkier nicknames?

[name]Elizabeth[/name] (Endless nn possibilities. I love [name]Libby[/name] and [name]Ellie[/name])
[name]Eleanor[/name] (Once again, [name]Ellie[/name] or [name]Nora[/name])
[name]Abigail[/name] ([name]Abby[/name], my sister’s name)
[name]Charlotte[/name] (unisex nn [name]Charlie[/name])
[name]Felicity[/name] ([name]Lissie[/name])
[name]Georgiana[/name] ([name]Georgie[/name])
[name]Juliet[/name] (Julez)

For unisex names, try:
[name]Morgan[/name]
[name]Merrigan[/name]
[name]Atherton[/name]
[name]Blaise[/name]
[name]Cody[/name]
[name]Greyson[/name] (could be a great compromise for you two)
[name]Halston[/name]
[name]Landry[/name] (even cuter spelled Landree, imho)
[name]Destry[/name]
[name]River[/name]
[name]Quincy[/name]

[name]Just[/name] please, please don’t use Cashin. It sounds like cash-in. [name]Just[/name] bad.

[name]Hope[/name] this helps!

I abosolutely [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] (nn [name]Charlie[/name]) but my husband is not a fan.

[name]How[/name] about [name]Lavinia[/name]?? Classic, as it dates back to ancient times (I think [name]Rome[/name] was called Lavinium?? Not sure), but still unusual and uncommon. First thing that jumped to mind when I was reading your post.

Others that you both might like:

[name]Isolde[/name]
[name]Althea[/name]
[name]Rhiannon[/name]
[name]Esmeralda[/name]
[name]Mirabelle[/name]
[name]Geraldine[/name]
[name]Annia[/name]
[name]Amaranta[/name]

Gosh it’s difficult when two people have such different styles!!

Any occupational name, maybe your hubby will go for them as they are quite old (in that the names came from occupations).

[name]Harper[/name]
[name]Piper[/name]
[name]Archer[/name]
[name]Sawyer[/name]
[name]Spencer[/name]
[name]Cooper[/name]
[name]Paige[/name]

I think any of those names would sound great with [name]Delaney[/name], even though they are different styles, except maybe [name]Isolde[/name], because of the “d” end being the same as at the beginning of [name]Delaney[/name].

Good luck!!!

I think there is a way to strike a balance here. There are lots of names with rich history that still sound modern and fresh.

Some options:
[name]Michaela[/name]- You mentioned [name]Mikayla[/name], which is really just a miss spelling of the traditional [name]Michaela[/name]. Also, if there are any Michaels in your family this would be a great way to honor them.

[name]Lily[/name], [name]Liliana[/name], [name]Iris[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Dahlia[/name], [name]Azalea[/name], [name]Magnolia[/name]- [name]Flower[/name] names always sound fresh and modern but still carry that vintage feel.

[name]Sadie[/name], [name]Lila[/name], [name]Sophie[/name], [name]Sylvie[/name], [name]Cecily[/name], [name]Willa[/name], [name]Brynn[/name], [name]Calla[/name], [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Maggie[/name], [name]Maisie[/name], [name]Maya[/name], [name]Tessa[/name], [name]Zoe[/name]- Short, cute, spunky names that can stand on their own.

[name]Adeline[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name], [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Hannah[/name], [name]Leah[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Lydia[/name], [name]Eva[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name], [name]Alice[/name], [name]Julia[/name], [name]Claire[/name], [name]Amelia[/name], [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Isabel[/name]- Older names that are the height of fashion right now.

[name]Brooke[/name], [name]Brenna[/name], [name]Cara[/name], [name]Ariel[/name], [name]Holly[/name], [name]Jocelyn[/name], [name]Cadence[/name], [name]Natalie[/name], [name]Miranda[/name], [name]Molly[/name]- “New classics” still feel modern but are not super tryndee.

[name]Grier[/name], [name]Avery[/name], [name]Arden[/name], [name]Harper[/name], [name]Quinn[/name], [name]Tamsin[/name], [name]Larkin[/name], [name]Blair[/name], [name]Sloane[/name], [name]Emery[/name], [name]Sydney[/name], [name]Shelby[/name]- These have a more unisex feel.

Any of them catching your eye?
[name]Hope[/name] that helps!

What other names does he like besides [name]Grace[/name]? If you give us some ideas, maybe we can come up with some similar options.
I like [name]Mikayla[/name], do you think your husband would like it more if it were spelled a different way? Alternatives to [name]Brenyn[/name] could be [name]Brynn[/name] or [name]Bronwyn[/name]. I don’t like Cashin, it reminds me of [name]Cash[/name]-n-Go.
other ideas-
[name]Eden[/name]
[name]Neve[/name]
[name]Kaia[/name]
[name]Thea[/name]
[name]Tatum[/name]
[name]Maren[/name]
[name]Skylar[/name]
[name]Aubrey[/name]
[name]Cecelia[/name]

[name]Dylan[/name]
[name]Audra[/name]
[name]Brielle[/name]
[name]Amory[/name]
[name]Kylie[/name]
MorganM
[name]McKenna[/name]
[name]Kinley[/name]
[name]Paige[/name]
[name]Presley[/name]
[name]True[/name]
[name]Rory[/name]
[name]Taylor[/name]

He does like [name]Mikayla[/name] with that spelling due to the fact that he has an uncle [name]Michael[/name] ([name]Mike[/name]) and he doesn’t want the spellings to be so close. He also liked [name]Olivia[/name] until we decided it was getting too popular. Really [name]Grace[/name] is the only name he has sad he likes lately. He’s one of those people that gets set on something and refuses to discuss any other options.

I don’t know if either one of you will like this name but [name]Eleanora[/name]. I think [name]Eleanora[/name] [name]Delani[/name] or [name]Eleanora[/name] [name]Delane[/name] are both very cute combinations. [name]Eleanora[/name] is a classic name but is so uncommon now that it has this freshness to it that I think makes it so unique. Plus [name]Nora[/name], [name]Elle[/name], [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Ella[/name], are all great nicknames.

I think this is a perfect compromise idea: Gracen. Pronounced like gray-son.

OOOOOH…I think I love you :). Only bad thing is I can see him thinking it’s too boy. I may have to do some serious swaying though cause I REALLY like it.

My friend’s sister just had b/g twins. [name]Ethan[/name] and Gracyn. I [name]LOVE[/name] saying her name and it totally fits a girl  They chose the spelling with the y to make it more feminine and I am glad they did!

I am almost 8 months pregnant and we [name]JUST[/name] found out that we are having a little girl. We had a boy name picked out from the beginning that we both loved. We are having trouble agreeing on a girl name though. [name]Lila[/name] has always been my favorite girl name. My husband doesn’t like it all that much…he likes names that I HATE. He is very country and the ONLY name he has suggested that I like is [name]Savannah[/name]…like I said, I like it…but I don’t love it. I don’t want to pick a name that either of us doesn’t really like…I don’t know what to do!!! I also like the name [name]Macy[/name] and I like [name]Sophia[/name]. He already has a little girl named [name]Isabell[/name] so it would be nice to pick a name that would go good with her name…I just don’t know what we are going to name her!! Any suggestions?

As a compromise to [name]Savannah[/name], how about [name]Susannah[/name]? I love [name]Lila[/name], also.

[name]Hi[/name]
My name is [name]Michaela[/name] ( different form of [name]Mikayla[/name]) i love my the fact that my name is unique. What about a compromise for example;
[name]Olivia[/name] nn [name]Livia[/name] [name]Delani[/name]
[name]Mikayla[/name] [name]Grace[/name] [name]Delani[/name]
[name]Brenyn[/name] [name]Grace[/name] [name]Delaney[/name]
[name]Sara[/name]/[name]Grace[/name] [name]Brenyn[/name] [name]Delani[/name]

or what about traditional names with a unique spelling?

Yvie [name]Grace[/name] Delanii(y in place of e)
[name]Ellynne[/name] [name]Grace[/name] [name]Delani[/name]
[name]Sofia[/name]/[name]Sophie[/name]/[name]Sofie[/name] [name]Mikayla[/name]
Ellynor/ [name]Elleanor[/name] ([name]Elle[/name]/[name]Ellie[/name]) [name]Delani[/name]

[name]Hope[/name] this helps!

I am in the same boat. I only have a month left and we have no name. The funny thing is I love the name [name]Brenyn[/name] [name]Michaela[/name]. We must think alike. My husband jokes that I made up the name [name]Brenyn[/name]. I think it is pretty and unique.

OOOOOH…I think I love you :). Only bad thing is I can see him thinking it’s too boy. I may have to do some serious swaying though cause I REALLY like it.[/quote]

Gracen [name]Scout[/name] sounds like a good possible name combination to me!!!

I had the same problem with my husband!! Completely opposite tastes in names but we found a name that we both love and I’m sure you both will too!!

Sooooo, stuck on [name]Grace[/name], huh? Mayyybeeee…[name]Gail[/name]/[name]Gale[/name], [name]Greer[/name]/[name]Grier[/name], [name]Georgette[/name], [name]Blithe[/name], [name]Faith[/name], [name]Natalie[/name], [name]Cynthia[/name], [name]Petra[/name]…Good luck!!

What about [name]Alexandra[/name]?
A beautiful name, you can call her [name]Lexie[/name] or [name]Sacha[/name]…
