Our daughter will NEVER have a name!!!!! :)

What about [name]LOVE[/name]? It’s a classic old name but also sounds very beautiful, the same about [name]Harper[/name])

1st:[name]Noah[/name] is not uni-sex
2nd:[name]Just[/name] because your name is spelled with a K does not make it unique it makes it hard for use teachers who think a name is spelled correctly when you hear it but you can never assume that these days.
3rd: Since your spelling [name]Delaney[/name] completely wrong I think you got your share in uniqueness
4th:Therefore you should use a name your hubby likes [name]Grace[/name] to pull it together. Its only fair. The fn needs to be traditional.

He does like [name]Mikayla[/name] with that spelling due to the fact that he has an uncle [name]Michael[/name] ([name]Mike[/name]) and he doesn’t want the spellings to be so close…[/quote]

I don’t want to offend anyone but most name nerds like to stick to the traditional spelling of all names, so when you say you want to spell [name]Michaela[/name] as [name]Mikayla[/name] it just looks butchered to us and seems like a different name altogether.

[name]Michaela[/name] is the traditional and most beautiful spelling. I strongly suggest sticking to the traditional spelling.

best wishes

Before I say anything regarding the content of this post, I have to say something to the writer of this comment. I think your tone is a bit mean. Of course, I could be misinterpreting it (it can be hard to tell when it’s online) but it’s just my observation. We’re all friends here; we’re all on the same team.

Now that that’s out of the way, here are my suggestions. (For clarification’s sake, I’m speaking to the original writer of the thread.) First, [name]Noah[/name] can be unisex. I know one female [name]Noah[/name] and several girls named [name]Noa[/name], if you prefer that spelling. Also, I don’t think there is a “right way” or a “wrong way” to spell names. A name is a name, and sometimes variational spellings of names can add that special touch. In fact, I think that is how you and your husband can reach a compromise. Try an interesting spelling of a traditional name.

Let me know how that works! Good luck! MWAH

Would he/you consider any of these? (Searching for classic(ish) names with a little punch to them, sort of…)

[name]Eve[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Anna[/name]
[name]Daisy[/name]
[name]Maya[/name]
[name]Julia[/name]/[name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Lily[/name]
[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Tess[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Ava[/name]
[name]Greta[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name]

I completely agree. [name]Noah[/name] is boy, [name]Noa[/name] is girl, therefore [name]Noah[/name] is not unisex. Random y’s and k’s do not make a name unique, they just make the name look like a misspelling. At least spell them [name]Brennan[/name] (which is a boys name anyway) and [name]Michaela[/name].
[name]Delaney[/name] is an ancient surname full of history, [name]Delani[/name] etc is not.

A nice compromise might be [name]Gracelyn[/name]/[name]Gracelynn[/name]. He gets the traditional [name]Grace[/name], you get the somewhat trendier -lyn ending.
Other suggestions:

[name]Madeleine[/name] nn [name]Maddy[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Juliana[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Lillian[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name]

I really like the suggestion of Gracen/Gracyn (I prefer the -yn ending for a girl myself). Gracyn [name]Delaney[/name] (please spell this the traditional way - it has so much more meaning!) is a great combo! Keep us updated!!

The first commenter mentioned, [name]Peri[/name] which is my first name and I absolutly adore being [name]Peri[/name], strong, cheeky, fun and feminine, plus there is so many stories is Perisan mythology about the [name]Peri[/name]'s and how beautiful they are. [name]How[/name] could a girl not love it. In my life I have only ever met two other [name]Peri[/name]'s. My mn is grace also and I love my name. You could not go wrong with the combo  hehe.

Take heart, my husband had the same attitude with the first but has relaxed some since then. He still won’t got for super out-there names, but he is better. With our first we compromised and used [name]Isabel[/name]. I will always be disappointed as it is not as unique as I would have liked but at least it was pretty. My other three I got a lot more freedom with!

FWIW, I too like the name [name]Grace[/name]. Also, my name, [name]Caroline[/name], is traditional and old-fashioned without being overused. It sounds like he wants to stay in the top 100, so maybe just look at the bottom of the list and go with something in the 50-150 area that is not trendy sounding (i.e. NOT [name]Makayla[/name]).

Ideas might be
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Annabelle[/name]
[name]Alexandra[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Brooke[/name] ( a little less classic but still nice)

GL!
I am due soon and really struggling to compromise, it is always a battle-wish we could name our kids in a vacuum.

Well my personal vote of the names you mentioned is to go with [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Grace[/name] =0) You can call her [name]Livia[/name] or [name]Liv[/name] or even [name]Grace[/name] or [name]Gracie[/name]. Traditional, Solid, Classic Timeless. [name]Grace[/name] is also gorgeous in the first name position, and I could even see [name]Grace[/name] [name]Olivia[/name]. Look up in the SSA by what state you live in to see the popularity… it may not be as popular as you think…

I personally, am not a fan of most unisex names… but if you like it, some ideas I had:
[name]Addison[/name] [name]Grace[/name] (I do like [name]Addison[/name], and my thrid dd has it as a mn)
[name]Hadley[/name] [name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Harper[/name] [name]Scout[/name]

As for Gracen/[name]Grayson[/name]… I am sorry, but honestly I just feel like it takes so much away from the beautiful, elegant timeless [name]Grace[/name]… I don’t know to me it’s like the difference between [name]Carolyn[/name], and [name]Caroline[/name]… I do though, know a little girl named [name]Grayson[/name]… I just so much prefer [name]Grace[/name].

Take it from someone who just went through this with her hubby ;0) Everyone is happier with a fair compromise (I wanted [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Joy[/name], he wanted [name]Caroline[/name] and we are naming her [name]Olivia[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] =0) ). Be blessed!!

What about [name]Gracelyn[/name] as a compromise?

[name]Gracelyn[/name] [name]Delaney[/name] is cute!

Good [name]Lucka[/name]

I vote for [name]Delaney[/name] [name]Grace[/name]! I’m a huge fan of family names. Why not put it in the first spot? It gives you the unisex spunkiness that you want, great nicknames ([name]Della[/name], [name]Laney[/name]), and you can incorporate [name]Grace[/name] into the middle spot to appease your husband. I much prefer the [name]Delaney[/name] spelling. [name]Delani[/name] isn’t as pretty to me.

This exactly. I’m not a fan of Gracyn/[name]Gracelyn[/name]. It just looks trendy/made-up to me and not near as pretty or as feminine as [name]Grace[/name]. Plus, it makes me think of [name]Grayson[/name] and Graceland. You could also use [name]Graciana[/name] or [name]Graciela[/name], both of which are Spanish forms of [name]Grace[/name].

I’m sorry, I don’t get why everybody keeps posting? This thread is almost two years old! Think the baby has a name by now!

Oops! I didn’t even notice! It was with the new posts on the front page.

I’m sorry, I didn’t want to came across as rude:) I just wanted to point that out!

LOL. I didn’t notice either. It looks like it was revived in the middle of page three.

[name]Georgiana[/name] is both traditional and unique. Old English roots, but a breath of fresh air and just a little quirky here. Best of luck!

I really like the name [name]Brenyn[/name] for a girl also, although I prefer it spelled [name]Brennan[/name]. Have you suggested [name]Brynn[/name] or [name]Brynne[/name] to your husband? I think this name is really pretty and unique! Also what about [name]Olivia[/name] with the nickname [name]Livia[/name], [name]Olivia[/name] is nice and classic but you would also be able to use the name that you liked. What about some of these names:

[name]Lucia[/name] ([name]Lucy[/name])
[name]Emery[/name]
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Lilah[/name]
[name]Shyla[/name]
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Harper[/name]
[name]Avery[/name]
[name]Reese[/name]
[name]Cora[/name]
[name]Kennedy[/name]
[name]Addison[/name]
[name]Anniston[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Lena[/name]
[name]Ryan[/name]
[name]Blake[/name]

I hope that I could help you! Sorry if I repeated and suggestions or you don’t like them. As for unisex names, I personally think that they are really cute on girls  Good luck!
