I’m 30 weeks pregnant with our third (and final!) baby, and we’re still not sure about which name we’re going to give to our little boy. It seems especially difficult with this child because we know we’ll never have a chance to choose a name again, so if there’s something we like, we’re trying to find a way to make it work. Recently, we compiled a list of every name we’d possibly consider using and painstakingly narrowed it down. I was wondering what you guys’ opinions are of the names we have left and which would work the best. (Our two older children are [name]Heidi[/name] and [name]Rhys[/name].)
[name]Anders[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name]-- *My husband’s favorite!
[name]Asher[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name]-- *My favorite!
[name]Hudson[/name] (working on the middle name)–*My husband’s second favorite
[name]Finn[/name] (working on the middle name)
[name]Jonah[/name] (working on the middle name)
[name]Lachlan[/name] (working on the middle name)
[name]Leland[/name] (working on the middle name)
[name]Milo[/name] (working on the middle name)– While adorable, I fear [name]Milo[/name] won’t age well.
[name]Theo[/name] (working on the middle name) – We’re unsure if Theo can truly stand alone.
[name]Soren[/name], [name]Leif[/name], [name]Luca[/name], [name]Harrison[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]Johan[/name] – These are on our list because we really like them as middle names, but not as first names.
The most likely candidates are [name]Asher[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Anders[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Hudson[/name] _________. However, several years ago we did randomly decide to change our son’s name to [name]Rhys[/name] [name]Owen[/name] (something that wasn’t even a top contender) when I was 36 weeks pregnant just because we loved the way it sounded when paired together. We’re open to anything.
Well from what I see you’ve already narrowed it down. [name]Both[/name] of your top choices have [name]Benjamin[/name] as a middle, so it seems to me like the middle name will be [name]Benjamin[/name]. [name]Asher[/name] and [name]Anders[/name] are both great options and are quite similar sound wise. I’d drop all other options and decide between the two favorites. My personal pick would be [name]Asher[/name] though. I think it flows better with [name]Benjamin[/name].
You’re lucky though, not to many couples have favorites that are so similar. Good luck!
I think that [name]Asher[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name] has a better flow than [name]Anders[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name] (in my opinion), something about the N’s in both [name]Anders[/name] and in [name]Benjamin[/name] possibly?
I like Many of your choices and think that [name]Hudson[/name] is great! I like it paired with:
[name]Hudson[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Hudson[/name] [name]James[/name]
or even
[name]Hudson[/name] [name]Luca[/name]
From your choices, I like [name]Asher[/name] most, but all your choices are nice. [name]Anders[/name] has a mild connection to [name]Andrew[/name] to me for some reason, but that’s not a bad thing. [name]Benjamin[/name] goes nicely with both [name]Asher[/name] and [name]Anders[/name]. [name]Hudson[/name] [name]Samuel[/name] is a favorite of mine. I like the way the two names flow and look together. Good luck!
You know, the connection with [name]Andrew[/name] and [name]Anders[/name] is one of the reasons I shy away from it a bit. I’m afraid he’d be saddled with the nickname [name]Andy[/name] for his entire life, which is really unappealing to me.
My favorite from your list is [name]Asher[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name]. [name]Both[/name] you and your husband have [name]Benjamin[/name] in the middle spot of your top choice, so I would keep [name]Benjamin[/name] at the least. I chose [name]Asher[/name] because despite the three different cultural origins, [name]Heidi[/name], [name]Rhys[/name], and [name]Asher[/name] work really well together.
I really like [name]Anders[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name], but [name]Asher[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name] does have a better flow. [name]Asher[/name] is gaining popularity quickly. It also doesn’t fit in with [name]Rhys[/name] & [name]Heidi[/name] as well as [name]Anders[/name] does.
Congrats! i love [name]Asher[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name] or [name]Anders[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name] best. I think [name]Leland[/name] is a bit too different to heidi and [name]Rhys[/name]. not keen on [name]Hudson[/name] because heidi has the H and D sounds very strongly too, it’s a bit too similar. [name]Finn[/name] [name]Orion[/name]?
I agree with you about the issues with [name]Hudson[/name]. That’s why I’m really reluctant to make it a favorite of mine.
And, you know, [name]Finn[/name] [name]Orion[/name] was a combo we both were really warming up to for a while. However, whenever we said the name to anyone, they thought we were saying [name]Finn[/name] O’[name]Ryan[/name], which was like Holy Irishman Overload. Not that anything is wrong with Irish names, but it just seemed overwhelming.
[name]Heidi[/name], [name]Rhys[/name] & [name]Asher[/name] are perfect, I think [name]Asher[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name] is so cute.
[name]Heidi[/name], [name]Rhys[/name] & [name]Milo[/name] is my other favourite option. Would you consider [name]Miles[/name] nn [name]Milo[/name]? [name]Miles[/name] ages better than [name]Milo[/name] [name]IMO[/name]. [name]Miles[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name] is so cute
Oh I like [name]Miles[/name] as a suggestion with nn [name]Milo[/name]. However, since you did painstakingly narrowed down your list my favorite there are [name]Anders[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Theo[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Finn[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name].
I much prefer [name]Anders[/name] to [name]Asher[/name]. [name]Asher[/name] is more trendy and more feminine sounding. While [name]Anders[/name] is less common and has a much more masculine sound to it. Heck the meaning of [name]Anders[/name] is “manly”! I prefer strong masculine names as well as uncommon names so [name]Anders[/name] gets my vote of those two.
I also really like [name]Hudson[/name]. I fell in love with the name while I was doing renovations last year, and one of the paint colors was this beautiful blue named “[name]Hudson[/name] [name]Bay[/name]”.
I think I would chose [name]Hudson[/name] over [name]Anders[/name] even though it might be considered a little more trendy.
As for the other names on your list, I like [name]Finn[/name], but as a nn for [name]Finlay[/name]. I also like [name]Theo[/name], but not so much as stand alone name and I don’t like it as much as [name]Hudson[/name] or [name]Anders[/name]. I prefer [name]Lachlan[/name] over [name]Leland[/name]. I also really like [name]Miles[/name]!
I do like [name]Miles[/name] very much, but my husband does not. I wish he did, but that’s one that he’s really vetoed. That seems to be our problem lately: we’re really loving the shortened versions of names, but not the longer variations ([name]Finn[/name], [name]Milo[/name], [name]Theo[/name], etc).
That’s awesome! [name]How[/name] old is he, by the way? I’ve never in my life met another [name]Anders[/name], so hearing that avoiding the nickname [name]Andy[/name] is a possibility is very promising!
