Our third little bundle is due at the end of [name_f]September[/name_f]. So far we have two little girls named [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] (3) and [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] (16m).
It’s very early, I know! But I was hoping for suggestions for pairing down the list or coming up with suggestions that work with our surname (rhymes with Leave) and with our other children’s names. Girl middle name will be [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (consistent family name) or maybe [name_f]Jayne[/name_f] as this is husbands mother’s name. Boy middle name will be [name_m]Gordon[/name_m], [name_m]William[/name_m] or [name_m]John[/name_m]. ([name_m]Gordon[/name_m] is the parental grandfather. Personally I’m barracking for [name_m]William[/name_m] - that’s my grandpa’s name and my husband gets the surname on all of the children!!! Fair’s fair!! [name_m]John[/name_m] is also a family name from both sides)
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] (Ithink I like [name_f]Jane[/name_f] better than [name_f]Jayne[/name_f])
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
My first choice is [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] but I’m not sure I can get it to flow with our surname… [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] Leave. I like the sibset [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] so much but worry the [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] Leave combo is a tongue twister. I guess I’m also worried about having three girls whose names end in ‘a’ too - but when I think more about that, I don’t think it matters.
For boys:
[name_m]Alistair[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] or [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] [name_m]Gordon[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m]
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m]
My favorites here are easily [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] and I really, really, really can’t choose between them. I fear that whilst I find [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] to be elegant and handsome, most other people will think it’s a bit middle aged, like calling a 2000’s baby [name_m]Bruce[/name_m] or [name_f]Barbara[/name_f]. I think that [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is a timeless but maybe more modern name in a classroom full of Jacks, [name_m]Owens[/name_m] and Noahs.
Thoughts, rankings and suggestions appreciated!!!
Oh and PS - it’s way to early to know the gender - I will update if anyone’s interested when we find out. I have a feeling it’s a boy but with 2 girls already - the odds are in favor of 3 pinkies!
I don’t think the -a ending for the girls names is a problem. But the [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and Leave combo probably is. I don’t know if that will work. Unless you make it [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] or [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] or something.
I like [name_f]Carys[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] best from your list. And I like all of your boys names except [name_m]Alistair[/name_m]. They’d all go well with your children’s names.
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]!!! I love this so much. I do think [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] Leave is too much, but [name_f]Orla[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] works beautifully. [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] Leave
My favourite boys options are [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u].
[name_u]Love[/name_u] all three of these choices, but [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] is my favourite as it has the same feisty, distinctive flavour of your other girls’ names. [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] do, too, but for me the effect is diminished slightly by both being uber-popular where I live. They are all gorgeous names though! I don’t think three ends-in-a names are a problem - I doubt anyone would really notice. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] “Leave” just doesn’t work for me, I’m sorry!
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] tops the list because it’s short, strong and lively, like your daughters’ names. Definitelt my no. 1 choice for you. [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] and [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] are also lovely names, but [name_f]IMO[/name_f] they have a slightly different feel to [name_f]Orla[/name_f] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f]. They would both definitely work, though. I don’t like [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] feels a little too modern/trendy with your daughters’ names. Another problem I have with your [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] combo is that [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]Williams[/name_m] is the name of the former Archbishop of Canterbury, so he’s the first thing I think of when I hear this combo.
I think your girls’ options are fantastic so I won’t suggest any more, but here are a few more ideas for boys:
[name_m]Louis[/name_m] ([name_u]LOU[/name_u]-ee) - much prefer this to [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]
[name_u]Owen[/name_u]/[name_m]Eoin[/name_m] - similar sound to [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], but feels more classic
[name_m]Ivo[/name_m], [name_m]Milo[/name_m], [name_u]Theo[/name_u], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] - other ends-in-o names for boys which are less popular than [name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m]/[name_m]Rubin[/name_m] - I know a sibset of [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] and think they really work, plus it’s not dissimilar to [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_m]Rupert[/name_m], [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] - both have the same classy British feel as [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] but are a little shorter and punchier
Wow, your taste in girl names is identical to mine, lol. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Carys[/name_f] (I prefer [name_f]Cerys[/name_f]), [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Saskia[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f] and [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] are favourites of mine. [name_f]Cerys[/name_f] is my favourite name so I pick [name_f]Carys[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], although they’re all lovely. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] Leave is too much imo so I would cross that out, unfortunately.
From your boy names, my favourites are [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m] (in this order.) I think [name_m]Leo[/name_m] fits wonderfully with [name_f]Orla[/name_f] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f], but is [name_m]Leo[/name_m] Leave too much too? For me, yes it is, so I’d pick [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], but if it’s no issue for you then great.
To put it simply, I would put them in this order:
[name_f]Carys[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] ([name_f]Orla[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Carys[/name_f])
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] ([name_f]Orla[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Imogen[/name_f])
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] ([name_f]Orla[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Saskia[/name_f])
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] ([name_f]Orla[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m]) AND [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] ([name_f]Orla[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m])
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m] ([name_f]Orla[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u])
