Our sweet little boy [name]Frederik[/name] [name]Carl[/name] was born February 19th at 6:42pm! I want to thank everyone here for all the feedback and help in deciding on his name. We went back and forth a lot, but in the end I am very happy with our choice. He joins big sister [name]Louisa[/name], who is very proud of her little brother!
Thank you all again for your help during the naming process and good luck to all the expectant and new parents!
[name]Frederik[/name] is lovely! Congratulations! Your sibset has a Sound of [name]Music[/name] feel to it! Adorable but just wondering if you were a fan and it was deliberate. Congrats again!
Congratulations on the arrival of [name]Frederik[/name] [name]Carl[/name]! What a great name and it goes so well with [name]Louisa[/name]. All the best to you and your family!
Thank you all so much! It’s so nice to get positive feedback about his name, and even my family has been surprisingly positive about it! Or at least I haven’t heard any negatives. We think [name]Frederik[/name] is a perfect complement to our little [name]Louisa[/name].
That’s an interesting point, and no, it wasn’t deliberate. I am not very familiar with the film, but isn’t the brother [name]Friedrich[/name] instead of [name]Frederik[/name]? Either way, I’m sure it won’t be the last time we hear the “Sound of [name]Music[/name]” reference. We heard it a few times after [name]Louisa[/name] was born too.
yep, you are right with the spelling [name]Friedrich[/name]. It just had that feel to it - but i think i have seen the movie about 1000 times! I think the sibset is lovely. Plus, I have a soft spot for [name]Freddie[/name] and would have loved to have named my son [name]Frederick[/name]! Husband vetoed it though. Enjoy this wonderful time!
Congratulations! [name]Frederik[/name] [name]Carl[/name] is lovely, and [name]Louisa[/name] and [name]Frederik[/name] are so perfect together. Can I ask why your choice in spelling? I thought I remembered you posting about [name]Frederick[/name] with the “C”–I’m just curious.
Thank you so much to everyone! Regarding the spelling, we decided to spell it the Danish/Northern [name]German[/name] way for a couple reasons. First of all because my husband is [name]German[/name], and we live in Northern Germany. The “[name]Frederik[/name]” spelling is much, much more common here. Secondly, my husband also has a Nordic name, and we thought the “[name]Frederik[/name]” spelling fits better with his name.
I know it will be tough for my American friends and family to get the spelling right. So far a lot of people have spelled it wrong. But in the end we liked the spelling without the C better.
