Our long list

Hey Berries!! I’m back yet again

So my husband I went through names last night and made a long list. However, all of the names have some sort of problem so I need help sorting through and seeing what’s best for my other children.

If you somehow haven’t seen any of my other posts, hi! I’m [name_f]Charlotta[/name_f] and my husband [name_m]Nathanael[/name_m] and I are expecting triplets- 2 boys and a girl- on [name_u]December[/name_u] 27 this year.

We have a two year old son called [name_m]Etienne[/name_m] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] [name_m]Luis[/name_m], who we call E and we have already picked out names for our newest arrivals. They will be names (se)[name_m]Bastien[/name_m] [name_u]Claude[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_m]Clement[/name_m] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] [name_u]Tristan[/name_u].

We were completely stuck on names for our little princess and as the days go by, I am getting more and more stressed about it. But we’ve FINALLY got a list so please leave some advice!!

[name_f]Floressa[/name_f]: A recent discovery for us but my husband loves the ‘essa’ ending. But does it sound too close to fluorscent? as in the lighting?

[name_f]Noelle[/name_f]: The more I think about it, the more I feel like I don’t like it. Its been on my lists for so long that its starting to feel a little stale, especially as a first name. I love it as a middle name

[name_f]Athena[/name_f]: We love [name_f]Athena[/name_f] with the nick name [name_f]Thea[/name_f] but feel as if its too modern sounding with our very [name_m]French[/name_m] boys.

[name_f]Olive[/name_f]: Really like [name_f]Olive[/name_f] but her cousin is called [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] so I think its unusable unfortunately

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]: A little bit too popular at the moment but love [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] or [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] as nicknames.

[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]: Same problems as [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] but really pretty

[name_f]Isla[/name_f]: Doesn’t suit our boys and it’s also too short

[name_f]Willa[/name_f]: I fell in love with [name_f]Willa[/name_f] when I first saw it however, its very short compared to the boys and is also close to my brother in laws name- [name_m]Guillaume[/name_m].

[name_f]Frances[/name_f]: We feel as if this is too masculine?

[name_f]Noemie[/name_f]: Loved the suggestion of [name_f]Noemie[/name_f] from yesterday’s post BUT my niece is called [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]. It doesn’t seem similar but [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] gets called Imie, and [name_f]Noemie[/name_f] is slightly too close to that

[name_f]Ophelie[/name_f]: Also loved the suggestion of [name_f]Ophelie[/name_f], however there are very limited nickname options and the ones that there are aren’t necessarily very pretty i.e Ophie

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]: Also the same problems and [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], as when I lived in Australia I went to a school with the name and loved it since I was 10, 20 years ago

[name_f]Ada[/name_f]: Same as [name_f]Isla[/name_f], too short. [name_m]Nathanael[/name_m] and I both absolutely love [name_f]Ada[/name_f] but is very very short with no nickname options at all.

[name_f]Adabelle[/name_f]/a: When I told my sister (who is also pregnant and expecting a girl in [name_f]February[/name_f]) about the name [name_f]Ada[/name_f], she suggested using [name_f]Adabelle[/name_f]. I think its cute but wanted to get some opinions

[name_f]Arabelle[/name_f]/a: Pretty much the same as [name_f]Adabelle[/name_f], I love it but VERY POPULAR

Thank you all so much for helping us name our kids and your time on this website. Please, if you have anymore suggestions please comment!!! Also middle name is definitely [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] but would love two or three, [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] probably being one so please leave some combinations too!!!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] from [name_f]Lotta[/name_f], [name_m]Nate[/name_m] and E

My favorites are [name_f]Ophelie[/name_f] (you could call her [name_u]Olie[/name_u]!), [name_f]Adabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Noemie[/name_f] (which I personally don’t think is too close)
Here are some suggestions!
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
Flordelis
[name_f]Odessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] “[name_f]Thea[/name_f]”
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] “[name_f]Thea[/name_f]”

[name_f]Adelia[/name_f] “[name_f]Ada[/name_f]”
[name_f]Adela[/name_f] “[name_f]Ada[/name_f]”
[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Amabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]/[name_f]Coraline[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicia[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiorella[/name_f]
[name_f]Ferelith[/name_f]
[name_f]Idony[/name_f]
[name_f]Ione[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Madelief[/name_f]
[name_f]Magdalene[/name_f]/[name_f]Maddalena[/name_f]
[name_f]Mileva[/name_f]
[name_f]Mallory[/name_f]
Ottolie
[name_f]Romilly[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]

My favorite is actually [name_f]Adabelle[/name_f]! I’m not familiar with this one but I’m really drawn to it and I like it with the boys’ names. I also really like [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] and have never heard of/met one in real life.

It sounds like your preferred style for girls might be a little different from your favorite boy names? It might be worth thinking about how it would feel to compromise optimal compatibility to use one of your favorite girl names.

My favourites are [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], [name_f]Noemie[/name_f] (I think Imie and [name_f]Noemie[/name_f] are different enough. Slightly similar in sound, yes, but not that similar till it becomes a big deal), [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] (so pretty!), and [name_f]Ophelie[/name_f] -I second the suggestion of [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] as a nickname.

You seem to have many good reasons why a lot of these names are not the one. If I had to pick from your list I would go with [name_f]Noemie[/name_f] or [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]. I like how these names have something strong and soft all at the same time. And they sound good with brother’s [name_m]Bastien[/name_m] and [name_m]Clement[/name_m].

I would suggest:
Thérèse
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Adamaris[/name_f]
[name_f]Clarisse[/name_f]
[name_f]Thaddea[/name_f]
[name_f]Nathalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Noemie[/name_f]!! It gets my vote hands down. I have an [name_f]Isla[/name_f] while I still think it is beautiful given how popular it has become I wouldn’t chose it again given a do over.

As a previous poster mentioned, it sounds like your taste in girls’ names might be slightly different than your taste in boys’ names. You may want to consider whether it’s worth picking a name you love even if it won’t be a perfect stylistic match for your boys. If it’s worth it, then [name_f]Athena[/name_f] might be a winner. It may sound modern, but its ancient roots make it timeless.

If you really want to stay close to your boys stylistically, I think [name_f]Adabelle[/name_f] is a great choice—nickname [name_f]Ada[/name_f], which you and your husband love, plus that [name_m]French[/name_m] -elle ending. [name_u]Love[/name_u] this one for you. [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] might be too similar to use as a middle for it, but maybe [name_f]Adabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]?

From your list, I also like [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Noemie[/name_f] and [name_f]Ophelie[/name_f] nn. [name_u]Ollie[/name_u].

Other ideas:

[name_f]Oriane[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] (loving [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]!)
[name_f]Violette[/name_f]

Ranked from favorite to least favorite:
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] - I’m leaning towards this one for you just because it’s the only name you said you absolutely love. I think it would work just fine with your sons’ names and she would stand out in a good way!
[name_f]Arabelle[/name_f]/a - Beautiful, [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f] is a winner
[name_f]Ophelie[/name_f] - This is just beautiful. I also like the suggestion of [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] as a nickname. What about Phi (pronounced fee) or [name_f]Faye[/name_f] as nicknames?
[name_f]Frances[/name_f] - Well it is a unisex name but I think it leans more towards feminine these days. It’s a longtime fave of mine and I like its gentle sound. This one would actually go really well with your sons’ names.
[name_f]Noemie[/name_f] - very pretty. I don’t think it’s too close to Imie
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] - Adorable but I get what you mean if it feels stale
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] - Very sweet. Maybe a good middle name option?
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] - I get why it might be too close to your brother-in-law’s name. I took it off my list because my bro-in-law is named [name_m]William[/name_m]. Does it bother you enough not to use it? Very sweet name though.
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] - Cute with great nicknames options. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like it enough though?
[name_f]Athena[/name_f] - Beautiful but a bit intense for me. [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is pretty
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] - Too trendy for me but pretty
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] - Not a huge fan of this one but it could be a good middle name
[name_f]Adabelle[/name_f]/a - I think people will hear it as [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] and get confused.
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f] - Also feels stale to me
[name_f]Floressa[/name_f] - Yes, too much like fluorescent lighting I think. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], [name_f]Odessa[/name_f], or [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f]?

I like:

[name_f]Floressa[/name_f] is very pretty - unique yet familiar at the same time, I like it. [name_f]Essie[/name_f] or [name_f]Flora[/name_f] would make cute nn - you might also like [name_f]Alessia[/name_f], Floralie or [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelie[/name_f] - so cute and flowing. Depending on how you pronounce this, [name_f]Fay[/name_f] could be a nickname, as could [name_u]Lee[/name_u], or [name_f]Lia[/name_f], or maybe even [name_f]Effie[/name_f]/[name_f]Ephie[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] - so nice to say and i love the meaning. [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], [name_f]Celestine[/name_f] or [name_f]Celestina[/name_f] could be alternatives if you’re not loving it

So all problems are not created equal, and it may just be a matter of re-prioritizing real problems that truly matter to you and what seem like microscopic non-issues you only think of because you’re looking for problems.

[name_f]Floressa[/name_f]- I like the idea of [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] or [name_f]Flora[/name_f] with your sibset. [name_m]Just[/name_m] don’t care for this name.

[name_f]Noelle[/name_f], [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]- [name_m]Cross[/name_m] them off the list. [name_m]Just[/name_m] get rid of them if they don’t sparkle for you. Does it make you sad to nix any of them? Perhaps they only seem stale because they’ve been on your list so long. If it makes you sad to cut it, you may still have enduring love for it and keep it. I like [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] with your sibset but if they don’t make you feel warm and fuzzy, lose them.

[name_f]Athena[/name_f]- It’s an ancient name so while it might be coming into style now, it doesn’t seem too modern to me. [name_f]Athena[/name_f]/[name_f]Thea[/name_f] seems great with your sibset.

[name_f]Olive[/name_f]-If you love it, keep. The “sort of similar to a cousin’s name” is a non-issue to me. There will be an age difference, and many first cousins share the exact same first names with no problems.

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]-If you love it, don’t let popularity stop you. Though I can’t tell if you love it, it seems as if [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] are the real draw for you. [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] are both less popular. Also, [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] could be standalone names.

[name_f]Isla[/name_f]- feels like the trendiest on your list and it doesn’t go as well with the boys’ names

[name_f]Willa[/name_f]- It sounds like you love it. The “sounds sort of like my brother in law’s name” seems like a non-issue. I imagine it would often be pretty clear if people were referring to your daughter or her uncle.

[name_f]Frances[/name_f]- your call on if it seems too masculine. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you or your husband think it’s too masculine? I think it’s classic and I adore the nickname [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]. But since she’s surrounded by brothers, I understand wanting her name to stand out as obviously feminine.

[name_f]Noemie[/name_f]- This is another one you seem to love and I think the “sort of sounds like a cousin’s nickname” is less than a non-issue. This felt like you were really searching for a reason not to love a name. The “issues” we search for and often make a huge deal out of while pregnant seem to entirely disappear and are forgotten when baby is here. I like [name_f]Noemie[/name_f] in this sibset.

[name_f]Ophelie[/name_f]- I really like [name_f]Ophelie[/name_f] with the brothers’ names. Actually, I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] it. Nicknames and pet names can happen so organically and quickly that I feel like this is an issue that will resolve itself. Also, would it be that bad if people just called her by her beautiful full name?

[name_f]Ada[/name_f]- [name_m]How[/name_m] short is too short? It has two syllables, it’s filled with historical significance, it’s beautiful, and it sounds great with the sibling’s names. The length of the name seems insignificant to me, but this may be something you prioritize more.

[name_f]Adabelle[/name_f]- sounds made up to me. If I had a little [name_f]Ada[/name_f], I’d definitely call her my “[name_f]Adabelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u]/[name_f]Ada[/name_f] babe”, but I much prefer [name_f]Ada[/name_f] on it’s own. If you need a long form, I prefer [name_f]Adele[/name_f], nn [name_f]Ada[/name_f].

[name_f]Arabelle[/name_f]-pretty but not my favorite from your list

My favorites for you are [name_f]Ophelie[/name_f], [name_f]Noemie[/name_f], [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Athena[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f], and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]. And maybe [name_f]Philippa[/name_f]/[name_f]Pippa[/name_f].

My favorite by far is [name_f]Noemie[/name_f]. I don’t think the connection with [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]/Imie is a big deal. It’s so beautiful with your other names.

I second this! My thoughts exactly.

My favourites with your boys are:

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f], or just [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] or [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], or [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] or [name_f]Phyllida[/name_f] nn [name_f]Pippa[/name_f].
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] - feminine and classy
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] - a bit quirky but also feminine and interesting
[name_f]Frances[/name_f] - a beautiful classic and not too masculine in my mind. [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] feminine nns such as [name_f]Fancie[/name_f] or [name_f]Francie[/name_f].

I dislike [name_f]Floressa[/name_f] (yes fluorescent), [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] (not stylish, just like very dated male name [name_u]Noel[/name_u] where I come from), [name_f]Isla[/name_f] - too over-used next to your boys’ names, [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Adabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f] I’m sorry I find these 3 ugly.
[name_f]Noemie[/name_f] is too like [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] and would be confusing I think to spell and pronounce, but not too close to [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]. [name_f]Ophelie[/name_f] is interesting and could grow on me.
