Our Sweet Phoebe

After months of going back and forth on a middle name for our first daughter, [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], we finally settled on one (the day after she was born), and we are so happy with her name. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] was born on [name_u]March[/name_u] 14th, ten days after her due date, and a happy, healthy little bub.

We chose the name [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] because we love the mix of sweetness and gravity it has. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] has so much history (goddess/titan of the moon in Greek mythology, a [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] name, a bird name), and we could picture the name suiting a little girl as well as a grown woman. I really love the moon connection, and before we settled on [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] as a first name I was really considering “[name_f]Moon[/name_f]” as a middle, so finding [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] ended up being perfect.

[name_f]Iris[/name_f] was the very first middle name we thought of, but over the months of brainstorming names, we came up with so many that we loved and had such a hard time settling on one. So many berries weighed in and I really appreciate all of the help. For a few days leading up to her birth, we had settled on [name_u]Winter[/name_u] as her middle name, but then she was born on the first spring-like day we had, and it just felt wrong. We had considered [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] as well, and after meeting her, neither felt quite right. What I love about [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is that it’s also a Greek name, and in Greek mythology [name_f]Iris[/name_f] was a messenger goddess who delivered messages via rainbow. I also love that it’s a nature name, and that I’ll always think of her when I see Irises. With an “I” as her middle initial, her initials spell “[name_m]Pip[/name_m]” which we think is so sweet as a nickname. Lastly, we didn’t realize this until after we named her, but she was born on 3.14, which is “Pi” day. It seemed meant to be that she was born on Pi day and serendipitously has the initlas “P.I.” I’d been looking for the perfect name for so long, and it really seems that it found us in the end. We love our sweet [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and are so happy she’s finally here!

Congratulations! [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is perfect!
