If I remember correctly you have a daughter named [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and while you didn’t mention it, maybe to avoid “with [name_f]Jane[/name_f] I like … best”, knowing that, I automatically prefer [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] over the rest.
I find [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] a bit matchy, [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], unlike [name_f]Jane[/name_f], doesn’t feel like a blank canvas as so many people have heard of [name_u]Legend[/name_u] of [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] wether they play it or not, [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] and [name_f]Claire[/name_f] are sweet and work well with [name_f]Jane[/name_f], but I don’t love either as much as [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. Also, [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is just stunning!
Thank you @opheliaflora you’re right, we have [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m], but we are not overly concerned with names that “fit” with our sibset.
I love [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], too; she’s been on my list for awhile. In fact, these top 5 are the names I can’t bear to rule out.
And may I say, I love the names in your signature.
I like [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], but I really dislike [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. Also, [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] is poised to be a fast-riser and I’m afraid it might get popular/trendy. If that’s not an issue, go for it, but I feel like I should put that out there.
I voted for [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] because I like both names and I think the first and middle are balanced nicely. [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is lovely with a great flow too. If you switched to [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] or [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], then I think those would be great candidates too. [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] sounds too soapy to me (sorry). [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] is gorgeous but [name_u]Vale[/name_u] doesn’t sound right with it.
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] feels too trendy too me - I CANNOT ignore the ties to the videogame.
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is /just/ perfect. Especially with [name_f]Summers[/name_f]. I can’t imagine a more perfect, storied, name. It is so so SO lovely. I’m rooting so much for this one!
[name_f]Claire[/name_f] is overused and I’m not a fan of it in either a first name position or middle name position. [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Summers[/name_f] sounds like you’re merely describing the summers in the state of [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]. I don’t think it sounds good with [name_f]Jane[/name_f], either. [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] is alright but almost seems too similar in sounds to [name_f]Jane[/name_f].
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Summers[/name_f] is divine!
It seems as though these names are tied; to help narrow it down my DH and I each picked one to eliminate. I crossed off [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] (@roseofjune no summers of [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] - ha!) and he crossed off [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
This leaves us with [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], & [name_f]Claire[/name_f].
The popularity of [name_f]Claire[/name_f] doesn’t bother me too much because it’s such a classic; it’s impossible to guess the age of someone named [name_f]Claire[/name_f] whereas I can guess how old [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] might be. In my mind, it’s the safe choice.
Several of you mentioned the trendiness of [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], which I’ve never considered but can appreciate; kind of like the trendiness of [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Maude[/name_f] and [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]. Still, I love [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]. This is what I would pick today if I were signing a birth certificate. I love [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the combo of [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] but my mother would hate it (she has a bad association) so I went with my second choice of [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f].
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] is right in the middle of [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] in terms of style: it’s a little zippier than [name_f]Claire[/name_f]; it’s not as divisive as [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]. It strikes me as trendier than [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], less popular than [name_f]Claire[/name_f].
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] would be my fave, but [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is my fave combo from the ones above.
Now that [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is out, my vote goes to [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]. It has the same current feel of your children’s names (both gorgeous btw), without feeling trendy, the Shrek association is almost gone (it definitely isn’t the first thing I think of anymore) and I somehow like how the N in all three names ties them together, makes them sound soft but still appear strong.
