I keep starting new threads for new phases of our naming dilemma - thanks for bearing with me! We’re having such a hard time choosing a name for our baby boy, due any day now. I think we’ve narrowed it down to the following possibilities:
First names: [name]Noah[/name], [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Gabriel[/name], [name]August[/name]
[name]Jonah[/name] and [name]Caleb[/name] are also kind of out there as possibilities
What are your favorite combinations of these names? Based on what we’ve picked, do you have any other suggestions?
DH really likes [name]August[/name] and I want to like it…the nn [name]Augie[/name] actually has some family meaning to it, but I just don’t know that I like the sound of it and I really dislike [name]Gus[/name], for whatever reason. Plus, he’s going to be born in [name]August[/name] and that just seems too matchy. Any suggestions for similar names?
[name]August[/name] is so nice, it is on my short list as well. I think [name]August[/name] [name]Christopher[/name] or [name]August[/name] [name]James[/name] sounds really nice!
[name]Jonah[/name] and [name]Caleb[/name] are nice, too. Not sure that [name]August[/name] needs a nickname-- it’s only a couple syllables. Maybe you think it sounds too formal to stand on its own?

I really like the sound of [name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Avery[/name], [name]Noah[/name] [name]James[/name], and [name]Gabriel[/name] [name]Christopher[/name]. [name]Caleb[/name] [name]James[/name] and [name]Jonah[/name] [name]Christopher[/name] are also really nice combinations.
From what I can see, you like classic/biblical names, so a few I’d suggest are [name]Luke[/name], [name]Simon[/name], [name]Thomas[/name], [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Adam[/name], and [name]Nicholas[/name].
I don’t know that [name]August[/name] needs a nickname, we just tend to use them in our family (at least at home) and I want to be sure that I don’t dislike all potential nicknames.
[name]August[/name] [name]Christopher[/name] is likely the combo we’d use, so I’m glad other people like it as well! I do think it sound nice, I just can’t seem to picture it on my own child. And it seemed more usable when we thought he’d be born in [name]July[/name]…I don’t want it to seem like he’s named after the month of his birth.
I’m not sure I’d considered [name]Gabriel[/name] [name]Christopher[/name] or [name]Jonah[/name] [name]Christopher[/name], but I like them!

I adore [name]August[/name], but it’s a little tacky to me to name an [name]August[/name] baby [name]August[/name]. Maybe [name]Augusten[/name] or [name]Augustus[/name] would feel better to you?

Thanks, everyone! I think [name]August[/name] is pretty much out now that it actually IS [name]August[/name]…we thought he might make an appearance before now. I think we will try most of these combinations/suggestions on him once he’s here and hopefully something will fit. Our daughter was nameless almost until we left the hospital…I guess we just have trouble committing!
