Our top two baby girl choices... opinions please!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all, I’m new on here and am looking for some input on baby girl names. We think we have our top two selections made, and I would like some outside opinions. I love classic and timeless. I do NOT like trendy and do not want to have names that will eventually be labeled to “this person must have been born in xx decade”, (think [name_f]Krystal[/name_f] in the 80’s). Of course I don’t want overly popular, but I also know certain names are popular for a reason… because they are good. I guess that is how I feel about our final two. [name_m]Will[/name_m] you please tell me your thoughts? And if there is a reason you would select one over the other? Thanks in advance!

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]

(Also, does everyone know who to correctly pronounce [name_f]Isla[/name_f]? Would this open her up to frequent mispronunciation?

I like both. I think that [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is a bit more trendy, but [name_f]Anna[/name_f] (or [name_f]Anne[/name_f]) is considered classic.

Neither will be unfamiliar, and both are adorable. As for a personal preference, I think [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] takes the edge for being a bit more unique. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is still solid, and likely to be more timeless if your issue with recognizing a persons generation by their name is a huge issue. However, there are Islas in their 80s, 50s, 20s and newborn… so I don’t predict an issue.

It’s pronounce eye-lah, and most people know that by now. However, you may have to correct a few people… but not enough for it to become a nuisance.

I think both are beautiful names. If I had to pick one, I’d go with [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], just because it seems slightly more “timeless” than [name_f]Isla[/name_f].

I remember a couple of years ago someone asked the same question about the pronunciation of [name_f]Isla[/name_f] on another forum about names, and the responses she received were very mixed: about half said “Eye-lah,” the other half said “Ees-lah” (and then there were some outliers who always pronounced it “Iss-lah”). So yes, mispronunciation is a very real possibility.

Then again, I have a name that is always being mispronounced, and it doesn’t really bother me. You just correct the person, and then you move on.

I love [name_f]Anna[/name_f], but I prefer the combo [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] Evangeline is a bit repetitive to me.

Both are beautiful though, congrats!

UPDATE: just occurred to me, do you say ANN-ah or AHN-ah? AHN-ah Evangeline does not sound repetitive.
