[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I have recently started trying to conceive baby #2. We already have a daughter so this time around we’re hoping for a boy. Our top two names are below and I’m looking for general thoughts and opinions on them.
Thanks,
[name_f]Pansy[/name_f]
[name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] (my husband’s favorite)
[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]/[name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] [name_m]Frank[/name_m] (Still trying to decide between the two. [name_m]Frank[/name_m] is a family name)
Personally I like [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] [name_m]Frank[/name_m] or [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] [name_m]Frank[/name_m], with the nickname [name_u]Nico[/name_u]/[name_u]Niko[/name_u]. ([name_f]My[/name_f] 1st choice would be [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]/[name_u]Nico[/name_u]).
[name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] is nice a nice combo–but [name_m]Clark[/name_m] just feels a bit uptight to me.
[name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] is my favorite out of the two.
[name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] [name_m]Frank[/name_m] would be my choice out of the [name_u]Nick[/name_u]/[name_u]Nico[/name_u] combos.
I love [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] [name_m]Frank[/name_m] and [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] [name_m]Frank[/name_m]! They have great nickname options, my favourite being [name_u]Nico[/name_u]/[name_u]Niko[/name_u]. [name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] doesn’t seem to flow as well to me.
I like [name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] slightly better than [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] [name_m]Frank[/name_m]. And I would use [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] only if I had Slavic heritage because to me, it is tied to [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] I and [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] II.
I like [name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m]. It reminds me of [name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_m]Gable[/name_m] and [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] Peck, so it has an Old Hollywood feel to it. [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] [name_m]Frank[/name_m] is nice, too, but [name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] really stands out, to me.
I really like [name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m], very handsome. I also like [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] [name_m]Frank[/name_m]. I would not use [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] unless I had Slavic heritage, it sounds too Russian to work on an American kid. If you like the nickname [name_u]Nico[/name_u], I think it works for [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] just fine.
I prefer [name_m]Clark[/name_m]. It’s so underused. [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] is a classic but feels dated because all of the Nicks I know are within a few years of my age. [name_m]Clark[/name_m] is crisp, fresh, and sporty, and a lot of little boys would be thrilled to share a name with Superman.
I love [name_m]Clark[/name_m], but I’d pair it with a middle name that makes the full name easier to say. It’s hard to enunciate the k when you have the hard G right after it.
I really like [name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m]. It works so beautifully. [name_m]Clark[/name_m] is a strong monosyllabic name, and it’s rounded out so well by [name_m]Gregory[/name_m].
[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] [name_m]Frank[/name_m] is the inverse-- [name_m]Frank[/name_m] feels too clipped, in large part because it’s a nickname for [name_u]Francis[/name_u] and I don’t think it stands as well on its own. [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] is far more popular than [name_m]Clark[/name_m] (it’s a lovely name so it’s not surprising that it’s used so frequently).
[name_f]Glad[/name_f] to see that both combos are getting some love. As of right now, [name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] is our top combo since it’s my husband’s favorite (he let me have final say on our daughter’s name, I figured it would only be fair to let him have first pick when it comes to boy names). Thank you so much for all the feedback!
I love [name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m]! [name_f]My[/name_f] brother is named [name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] which has a similar flow, so I may be a little biased but he doesn’t know any other [name_m]Clark[/name_m]'s his age or otherwise (he’s 20). It’s a familiar but underused name. The perfect balance!
