I prefer [name]Spencer[/name]. [name]Sutton[/name] just does nothing for me.
I cannot fathom [name]Spencer[/name] on a girl it just does not work. [name]Sutton[/name] seems very feminine and cute!
Neither - I strongly prefer boy’s names on boys.
Thanks for the opinions and the votes, keep them coming!
I like boy’s names on boys too, but I’m a huge fan of unisex names on girls, obviously.
I voted [name]Spencer[/name] before I noticed it was for a girl… I want to change my vote!
Quite frankly, I don’t think either of these names is unisex. [name]Spencer[/name] is all boy to me. And [name]Sutton[/name] is…well, definitely not feminine.
I voted [name]Sutton[/name]. I absolutely love [name]Spencer[/name] for a boy–it’s on my short list–and, while I always thought [name]Sutton[/name] worked better for a boy, I have grown to see its appeal (I actually think it would work better on a girl). It’s cute.
Good luck!
I picked [name]Spencer[/name]. Although nms, I think it could be really cute with a feminine mn:)
Thanks so much! Middle name will most likely be [name]Olivia[/name] regardless of which first name we pick.
Thought you’d accidentally posted in the girls forum instead of the boys, sorry really strongly don’t like either, but I like girly or cute names for girls.
What she said…
[name]Both[/name] have been on my list for girls, and both a very unisex if you spend any time watching fox family Thats why I love the names. A girl in Pretty [name]Little[/name] Liars is named [name]Spencer[/name] and a girl from Lying Games is named [name]Sutton[/name]. [name]Both[/name] are fabulous on them and I think are fabulous girl names that seem so feminine once given to a girl.
But we obviously have the same taste and most disagree with me, too!
[name]Sutton[/name] is a massive GP for me on a little girl, I love it and I think [name]Sutton[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] was the combo I had thought about a long while back. Whereas, [name]Spencer[/name] is wholly masculine to me and I don’t think there is anything girly about it and dislike seeing it considered for girls.
The thing for me is most “unisex” names aren’t actually unisex - just because a name is used on girls doesn’t make it unisex, these names tend to be boys names simply being used on girls. Names have history and origins, and things like last names are masculine and therefore boys names. I don’t often like names on both genders, names like [name]Harper[/name], [name]Avery[/name], [name]Aubrey[/name] etc. are all boys names to me and I’d use them in an instance on little boys. [name]Spencer[/name] isn’t a unisex name, and neither is [name]Sutton[/name] really. While [name]Sutton[/name] is more appealing to me is because its a name that isn’t really heard of on either gender and makes it a little more useable on a girl. I never understand names like [name]Finlay[/name], [name]Spencer[/name], [name]Ryan[/name], [name]James[/name], [name]Elliott[/name] being used on girls because they are popular boys names.
[name]Sutton[/name] doesn’t even register on the list of rankings in the UK so I guess there haven’t been any [name]Sutton[/name]'s born in a long while. The only other masculine names I’d consider are [name]Arden[/name], [name]Darby[/name], [name]Greer[/name] and [name]Peyton[/name] but I doubt I’d ever use them when my other favourite girls names are things like [name]Arabella[/name], [name]Jemima[/name], [name]Matilda[/name], [name]Pandora[/name] etc.
Anyway, [name]Sutton[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] would get my vote!
Yes, those are the shows/books I got them from, haha. I love them! I would never have dreamed of [name]Spencer[/name] on a girl until then, but I love it and I love the nn [name]Spence[/name]. I also loveee [name]Sutton[/name].
[name]Sutton[/name] is the lesser of the two evils for me.
I voted for [name]Spencer[/name] because when I say [name]Sutton[/name] out loud it makes me think of “sluttin” or “glutton”. Its nice on paper but I don’t like saying it.
[name]Spencer[/name] is cute and spunky for a girl or a boy.
I really don’t care for either for a girl, but if I had two choose between the two… Hmmm, I think I’d have to say [name]Sutton[/name], because at least it’s not a well know boys’ name. [name]Just[/name] my opinion, hope it’s not too harsh. I do love the name [name]Olivia[/name], and if you’re gonna use a unisex name as a first name, I think it’s great that you’ll be using a very girly name as her middle.
I think both names are great…on a boy. Sorry, I couldn’t vote on either for a girl.
I love [name]Spencer[/name] for a girl!
