I’m renaming myself, and getting closer every day. I’m attracted to the timelessness of names like [name]Catherine[/name] and [name]William[/name], but since I’m one of multitudes of Emilys I would like something less popular. I’m 19. Looking for a non-frilly (no -a endings, please), elegant, classy yet quirky name. By “classy”, I mean intelligent and strong. I love historical, literary or mytholigical ties! Here’s what I’ve been considering so far;
[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Clementine[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Rose[/name] (my middle name. Is this too dated/boring? Also, loads of girls have [name]Rose[/name] as their middle name…does this lessen it?)
I like how uncommon and English [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Clementine[/name] are, but the meaning of [name]Phoebe[/name] is gorgeous! I’m not really a [name]Celeste[/name], but it’s got the feminine but not frilly vibe I like.
Names I like, but have the dreaded -a ending;
[name]Fiona[/name]
[name]Viola[/name]
[name]Hi[/name]. [name]Hi[/name]. [name]Hi[/name]. [name]Hi[/name]. [name]Hi[/name].
I’m renaming myself too, and I’m 18. Thank God I’ve found someone doing it too. We have totally different naming styles, (such as I adore a endings) but still!
My thoughts on the names you’ve posted:
[name]Imogen[/name] - It’s pretty sounding a times, but I think the look of it is too…“drab”. But it fits your criteria!
[name]Clementine[/name] - Very dated and meh. Plus it’s a fruit so that’s a downside imo. I’m not a fan of food names.
[name]Phoebe[/name] - I think this would fit you, it’s got that spunk but class you want.
[name]Celeste[/name] - My favourite from this list. I love it, and I think it’s the best.
[name]Rose[/name] - No offense intended, but I find it very overused. It’s definitely not dated, or boring to most people. You could use it.
I don’t like [name]Fiona[/name] at all, all I think of is Shrek. [name]Viola[/name] is okay,but I don’t like it as much as [name]Celeste[/name] or even [name]Phoebe[/name].
[name]Hi[/name]. [name]Hi[/name]. [name]Hi[/name]. [name]Hi[/name]. [name]Hi[/name].

[name]Elodie[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name] (but it has that a ending you hate. :/)
[name]Caroline[/name], if you’re keeping your middle name I think [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Rose[/name] would be beautiful. It also has plenty historical ties to it.
[name]Lucy[/name]/[name]Lucie[/name]
[name]Evelyn[/name] I like more than [name]Imogen[/name].
If it’s -a ending of [name]Viola[/name] you dislike, why not [name]Violet[/name]? And I think [name]Rose[/name] is a beautiful name and not lessened in any way!
@east93 thanks for your input! I like the names you’re considering, but we do have different styles! I have a cousin named [name]Caroline[/name], so that’s out. I like [name]Elodie[/name], but people might think “[name]Melodie[/name], but off”. [name]Lucy[/name] is my dad’s girlfriend’s dog name, which is annoying. [name]Cordelia[/name] doesn’t have any nicknames I like, otherwise I like it!
@annie85 Wow! I’m going to go through this list slowly later, but ones that caught my eye are [name]Felicity[/name] and [name]Guinevere[/name]!
@authot in writing I’m not too keen on having a straight out flower name, especially one that is super popular currently. I like the [name]Shakespeare[/name] connection with [name]Viola[/name]. But thanks for the suggestion, and the [name]Rose[/name] input!
