I don’t love any of my previous favourite boys names anymore, other than [name]Noah[/name] And I’d be pretty reluctant to use it, considering how common it is.
So I was hoping you guys might have some suggestions for me. Names I still like now (but not enough to use as first names) are:
Though they’re generally longer than the names you seem attracted to, other quirky and classic names might include:
[name]Rigby[/name]
[name]Rupert[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Gilbert[/name]
[name]Laurence[/name]/[name]Lawrence[/name]
[name]Julian[/name]
[name]Vincent[/name]
[name]Crispin[/name]
[name]Tristan[/name]
[name]Alastair[/name]
[name]Pierce[/name]
[name]Robert[/name]
[name]Lewis[/name]
[name]Auberon[/name]
[name]Tate[/name]
[name]Willoughby[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Anderson[/name]
[name]Winslow[/name]
[name]Peter[/name] (never [name]Pete[/name]!)
Whitton
[name]Sterling[/name]
[name]Paul[/name]
[name]Philip[/name]
[name]Malcolm[/name]
[name]Martin[/name]
[name]Maximilian[/name]
[name]Baxter[/name]
[name]Saxon[/name] (I notice a lot of X’s in the names you like now)
[name]August[/name]
[name]Jude[/name]
[name]Asa[/name]
[name]Calvin[/name]
Wow, thank you ellenelle! Great suggestions I love the idea of getting [name]Fox[/name] and [name]Rex[/name] in those ways, I never would have thought of that.
As for your suggestions, they’re all gorgeous. I particularly like [name]Rigby[/name], [name]Theodore[/name], [name]Gilbert[/name], [name]Auberon[/name], [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Maximilian[/name], [name]Saxon[/name] and [name]Asa[/name]. Though I’m not sure if I could see myself using any of them as firsts Possibly [name]Asa[/name] and [name]Maximilian[/name]… I used to have [name]Saxon[/name] on my list, but everyone was pointing out similarities between [name]Saxon[/name] and “sex” so I removed it. I like the length of most of them, in my mind I do prefer longer names but I find it hard to find ones I really love!
You also pointed out the abundance of X’s, and it is something I’ve been pondering for a while. Would it be too much to use more than one first name containing an X in one sibset? I get the feeling that it would come across as too trendy/hipster/try-hard…
And 2guys2gals, love [name]Roarke[/name] but again not sure if I would use it as a first name. I’m too picky at the moment!
I adore [name]Arlo[/name], [name]Phineas[/name], [name]Draco[/name], [name]Jasper[/name], [name]Wilder[/name] and [name]Caspian[/name]. I could possibly see myself using [name]Phineas[/name] and [name]Jasper[/name] as firsts. I don’t know why I’m finding it so hard to picture a son named anything!
Possible list, still not sure about it though:
[name]Asa[/name] [name]Felix[/name] [name]Rome[/name] - will people call him “ɑrse-uh”? Couldn’t use this with my girl’s favourite, [name]Rosa[/name]…
[name]Dakota[/name] [name]Ivo[/name] [name]James[/name] [Kota] - usability of [name]Dakota[/name] for a boy in the UK?
[name]Maxim[/name] [name]Abram[/name] [name]Knox[/name] [[name]Max[/name]] - too much like the magazine? Trying to find a variant of [name]Max[/name] that I really like.
[name]Ira[/name] [name]Phineas[/name] [name]Tobin[/name] - how usable is [name]Ira[/name], realistically? Wouldn’t use with [name]India[/name], one of my faves for a girl.
[name]Cedar[/name] [name]Bastien[/name] [name]Isaac[/name] - too similar to “seedy”? I know of one [name]Cedar[/name], a girl…
[name]Saxon[/name] [name]Noah[/name] [name]Valentine[/name] [[name]Sax[/name]] - too similar to “sex”? Wouldn’t use this with [name]Max[/name], of course.
I love the name [name]Saxon[/name]! Me and DH have agreed that it will be included in our 1st born sons name! You have some stunning names very close to the names that I love.
