Out there suggestion

OK I just got an out there name suggestion. I am a classical violinist and so is he, so he naturally suggested his fav. composer. What do y’all think of Vivaldi as a girls middle name? The redeeming factor for me is that I had an aunt [name]Vivian[/name] who died so there is a family connection (sort of). Should I shoot it down? No, I’m not expecting.

I personally think it’s fine. But if you don’t like it, I would certainly tell him that.

I’m torn. As a pianist who grew up playing Vivaldi, my instinct is to love it. The nns [name]Vivi[/name]/[name]Viva[/name] or [name]Allie[/name] (or even [name]Addy[/name]) are adorable, but it is a super acquired taste! Besides, Vivaldi sounds a bit masculine to my ear (even though the nns are more feminine. Although I suppose you could do Vivaldi nn [name]Arlo[/name]? [name]Arlo[/name]'s a huge stretch, though!). Maybe as a MN? I don’t know what your style generally is, but I think something like [name]Elena[/name] Vivaldi or [name]Tess[/name] Vivaldi or [name]Isabelle[/name] Vivaldi or [name]Clara[/name] Vivaldi, etc. would be great, and it could be a lovely nod to your history as a violinist.

Good luck!

I prefer [name]Viviana[/name] and [name]Vivienne[/name] to Vivaldi, but as a middle name, it is fine.

Vivaldi as a girls middle name? Yes! I love how rare it is as a girls name (never heard the idea before), its beautiful, distinct sound, the nice imagery, and the special meaning for you and your husband. Really nice choice!

What about [name]Viola[/name]?

In my opinion, middle names are designed for “out there suggestions”. If you’re not going to use it to honor family (which seems to be the usual case), it should have some meaning or excitement, otherwise why give a middle name at all? I think you’ve covered the ground nicely with this choice. Not only is Vivaldi a wonderfully unique girl’s middle name, it is a nod to your interests and a nod to family. Very nice.

This! [name]Love[/name] [name]Viola[/name] too!

Vivaldi’s given names were [name]Antonio[/name] [name]Lucio[/name]. So… how about [name]Antonia[/name] or [name]Lucia[/name]?

I really like it! It’s beautiful and special.

Ooh renrose! I think [name]Antonia[/name] [name]Lucia[/name] is pretty wonderful as is, even with the double-A endings. I agree with Dovah that middle names are designed to be a little out-there. I can’t really see Vivaldi paired with any of the names in your signature though… maybe [name]Rose[/name].

I tend to agree with this. You have some beautiful names in your signature, by the way, and I’m thinking [name]Cora[/name] Vivaldi or [name]Miriam[/name] Vivaldi could work.

@auroradawn I actually like it with [name]Miriam[/name]… hmmm. Anyone else?

I always like [name]Mozart[/name] as a boy’s middle name. I think Vivaldi would be odd though since he was male and it was his surname. I would prefer Vivaldi as a middle for a boy, sorry. I think [name]Viola[/name] would be a better choice. Or a variation of his first name, like [name]Antonia[/name] or [name]Antoinette[/name].

Yeah actually I think it works well with [name]Miriam[/name].
[name]Miriam[/name] Vivaldi… Though I might prefer [name]Muriel[/name]. It’s one of those love-hate names that strays into old-lady territory, but so is [name]Miriam[/name]. [name]Muriel[/name] means “bright sea” which feels appropriate for Vivaldi. [name]Muriel[/name] Vivaldi…

As a middle name, given your connection, I think it’s fabulous! I agree that middle names should have some sort of personal connection rather than just being another name. Ok so I wouldn’t name my daughter Vivaldi, but then I doubt you’d give yours my maiden name (which is what we’re planning to do!). GO FOR IT!!!

I think it’s adorable as a middle name. It has meaning to you, it makes a cool middle name, and it’s unique but familiar to pronounce and spell.

I think it’d make for a cool middle name, but it is a masculine name so I’d suggest if you use it to have a feminine first name.

Vivaldi would work as a middle name. I agree that [name]Cora[/name] and [name]Miriam[/name] would pair nicely with it. Would you consider Vivaldi as a fun nn for something like [name]Vivian[/name]/[name]Vivienne[/name]/[name]Valerie[/name]/ [name]Diana[/name]?

OK ladies lets take a vote. [name]Miriam[/name] Vivaldi or [name]Susannah[/name] Vivaldi
