Outrageous nicknames I give my kids

I surprised myself when I went with such a brief name for my son. I love the name [name]Jude[/name], but I find myself calling him Judicus or Judimus. [name]Silly[/name], I know, but it just ended up sticking with me. I stopped myself in the store today and thought how ridiculous this must sound to others around me. I also find myself calling [name]Arabella[/name] by the nickname Boo. Not as different as Judicus, but still kind of silly.

Anyone else have a name that they lengthen into a weird or silly nickname? Or are there any you can think of that you might make an unusual nickname out of?

I don’t have kids yet, but I know I will probably give all kinds of nn to them when I do. I have pets, and I’ve always given them crazy names!
Cats
[name]Ned[/name]: Nedders, [name]Ned[/name] Pie, Nedders Pie, [name]Neddy[/name], Squirrel
Gandalf: [name]Gan[/name]-man, [name]Gan[/name], Gander, Gandolphus, Owl
[name]Silas[/name]: [name]Si[/name], [name]Si[/name]-man, Monkey

Dogs
[name]Carly[/name] (pound puppy): C-Dog, [name]Carly[/name] [name]Barley[/name], Carberry, Car Car
[name]Eppy[/name] ([name]Boston[/name] Terrier): Porkpie, Runt Monkey

I definitely foresee any kids getting the same kind of endearments!

My sister calls me Boo-Boo and Boo [name]Bear[/name], haha. I think [name]Arabella[/name] nn Boo makes more sense than [name]Ashley[/name] nn Boo-Boo/Boo [name]Bear[/name]. Mainly because [name]Arabella[/name] has a “B” in it and [name]Ashley[/name] has none. haha. She calls my brother Bon-Bon, and his name is [name]John[/name]. I honestly don’t know where she comes up with them, lol. She calls our baby sister [name]Baby[/name] [name]Bear[/name] (or even just [name]Baby[/name]), but that makes sense, since [name]Tallie[/name]'s the youngest.

I don’t have kids yet, but I’d love to use silly nns like that for my kids when I have them! Offhand, I can’t really think of any silly ones for [name]Caleb[/name], [name]Isabelle[/name], [name]Arianne[/name], [name]Everett[/name], [name]Asher[/name], [name]Jack[/name], [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Violet[/name], etc., though.

I am not a fan of nicknames at all, and we don’t use any for our first two kids. But for some reason, our third’s name - Renner - lends itself to all kinds of names. I’ve noticed, that of late, we call him just about anything other than his full name. Basically anything that has [name]Ren[/name] in it - or even something close to it. The latest is Renginald (almost [name]Reginald[/name]), and Renjamin. We never thought Renjamin was odd, until my [name]BIL[/name] named his newest son [name]Benjamin[/name]. Now my husband is saying, “It’s going to be so weird - their names are almost the same!” And I have to remind him that no one outside our house uses the ridiculous Renjamin nickname.

My dog, [name]Otis[/name], has too many nicknames!

[name]James[/name]’ nickname is “Gubby”. While I was pregnant we often listened to the BBC’s The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the [name]Galaxy[/name], and (in one obscure passage with mattresses all named Zem) “Globber” was an expression and it digressed into “Gubby”. We were quoting it during my c-section. [name]James[/name] now calls himself Gubby, “Daymee” ([name]Jamie[/name]) or “Dimmee” ([name]Jimmy[/name]), and he calls me “Gubby” or “Gigga”. For no reason I call him “Nambi” (I guess its like [name]Bambi[/name]).
My neice, Isibel, was nn “Moopey” because she had this sleepy look and a funny ear (she grew out of all of that thankfully).
[name]James[/name] calls [name]Silas[/name], “[name]Bebe[/name] [name]Si[/name]” so we all do. That has digressed to “Be [name]Si[/name]”, and I call him “[name]Si[/name] Be” as a twist on that too. I call [name]Silas[/name], “Tippy-Tippy” because he laughs when he tips over. Tippy-Tippy is probably my favorite.

Our son is named [name]Leo[/name] and he gets called:

I’m just as bad with my cat: [name]Jersey[/name].

I think it’s cute you call ur son [name]Jude[/name] Judimus and Judicius, it’s endearing to have those kind of nn that only you call him. I call my DH by all sorts of nn, ending his name in suffixes like -iah, -ers, -ie.

Hehe, I do this to everyone!!

I get a lot too, I guess.

I guess some of us are prone to do it. [name]Just[/name] start giving strange nicknames to people :). There are some really funny and adorable ones you guys have listed. [name]Glad[/name] to know I’m not alone.

I’m not going to lie clover, those nicknames are adorable! Renjamin is really cute. And ash, Boo often becomes Boo Boo, as well as [name]Bella[/name] Boo. So long as I don’t start calling her [name]Honey[/name] Boo Boo!

Oh gosh, my nicknames are “worse”.
