Thoughts on Owen or Luke?
These are our top two boy contenders. Does Owen seem too trendy or new of a name? I know it is of Welsh origin (which we are not). Looking for a classic boy’s name. I do not want a boy name that will turn gender neutral.
I really like the name Luke and the variant of its meaning “light”. However, after overthinking this name a million times, does it rhyme with puke?? lol or this will be a non-issue.
I really like both of these names! I don’t think [name_u]Owen[/name_u] sounds too trendy right now! [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_m]Luke[/name_m] are both relatively popular at the moment but they’re both names that have historical backing. [name_m]Luke[/name_m] does rhyme with puke but it’s so popular a name that I don’t see this being a problem unless he happens to vomit in class one day!
[name_u]Owen[/name_u]! Personally [name_m]Luke[/name_m] just isn’t for me and it seems to popular. I do adore [name_u]Owen[/name_u] though 
I prefer [name_m]Luke[/name_m]. It feels more classic to me just because [name_u]Owen[/name_u] became so popular a few years ago. Both are nice though. I would not be concerned at all with the rhyming as I would think that if we dig hard enough we could find an unattractive rhyme for most names. [name_m]Luke[/name_m] is very well known and I can’t imagine anyone thinking of that.

They’re both great choices, but I prefer Luke! I don’t think the rhyme is an issue at all - I went to primary school with both a Luke and two Owens and none of them were teased over anything name-related ^^
I’ve always marveled [name_m]Luke[/name_m]. It’s so strong, striking, and stoic – it sounds like a bolt of lightning sent down from the heavens. Not to be too dramatic lol!
As for the unfortunate rhyme, puke is pronounced “pyuk,” whereas [name_m]Luke[/name_m] is “Lewk” not “Lyuk,” which is a slight difference. Regardless, almost every name imaginable is ripe for insults, so I wouldn’t cast aside a name for that reason.
[name_f]May[/name_f] I suggest [name_m]Jack[/name_m] as an alternative to [name_m]Luke[/name_m] in case you’re still not sure? They’re similar.
Both names are AWESOME! [name_f]My[/name_f] first son middle name is [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and I loooove it! Right now pregnant with baby number 2 also a boy and we are more than likely using [name_u]Owen[/name_u] as middle name. [name_m]Luke[/name_m] is so timeless and strong plus love the meaning of it. I wouldn’t worry about the “rhyme issue”. Anyone who wants to find something wrong with a name will do so no matter what name it is.
I prefer [name_u]Owen[/name_u]! [name_m]Luke[/name_m] actually feels more ‘trendy’ to me than [name_u]Owen[/name_u]. I love Owen’s soft sound.
[name_u]Owen[/name_u] is my favourite - rugged but sweet. I don’t find it trendy.

Funny I’ve never thought of that! [name_m]Ive[/name_m] always liked the name. With our last name [name_m]Moore[/name_m] I guess I’ve gotta be careful before there is a little Puke [name_m]Moore[/name_m] lol. I think it depends what your last name is. I do love the name [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and also Luka/Luca so I thought I’d suggest that one!

I really like both and I agree with a PP that your surname might be what decides it. They both feel quite versatile to me - I can imagine both on any personality, which I like a lot about them.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] thought of [name_m]Luke[/name_m] [name_m]Wilson[/name_m] and [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_m]Wilson[/name_m] (brothers, both actors)! They make a great sibling pair or combo, [name_m]Luke[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u] or [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_m]Luke[/name_m]. They’re kinda modern cowboy names.

I really like both names, but I personally prefer [name_m]Luke[/name_m]! I don’t think the rhyme will be a huge issue.
I prefer [name_m]Luke[/name_m]! I like the meaning of light too, and I feel like it’s more classic and honestly less popular than [name_u]Owen[/name_u] right now. I have met so many [name_m]Owens[/name_m] between the ages of 20 and 5 in the last few years, maybe it’s just where I’m located but I feel like they’re everywhere!
[name_u]Owen[/name_u] is a solid name! I might be a little biased since it’s my brothers name, but I think both options are nice
I really love [name_m]Luke[/name_m]. The puke thing has never really occurred to me so it doesn’t bother me. [name_u]Owen[/name_u] is really nice and I actually like it a lot but it seems like more of a trendy name to me just because of the ending sound, even though I know it has a nice heritage
I know brothers with these names! I personally prefer [name_u]Owen[/name_u] but I could see it becoming more gender neutral in the future. [name_m]Luke[/name_m] is also more “classic” in my opinion so maybe that would be a better choice for you.
