How do you all feel about [name_u]Owen[/name_u]? It was one of my very first name crushes, when I was in elementary school. I haven’t seriously thought of it in years but now I’m crushing hard again.
Apparently it’s a top five name here in Ohio, which is a bummer. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it’s retained some of its Welsh charm, or is it just another two-syllable, ends in “n,” popular boys name?
I’m also liking [name_u]Evan[/name_u] and [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]… any other simple, friendly Celtic names to suggest?
To be honest, to me it is just another 2-syllable, ends in “n”, popular name. I do think it is handsome, but it is very common now. I love [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]/Rowen, [name_m]Bowen[/name_m], and [name_u]Lowen [/name_u]as alternatives!
I love the name [name_u]Owen[/name_u] I heard of a little boy [name_m]Owyn[/name_m] and I thought that was cute too. It is a little too popular for me but it’s super super adorable!!!
I really love [name_u]Owen[/name_u]! I think it has some of that sweet charm but also sounds really handsome! I think that it’s strong O sound helps it stand out from the other “n” names!
Love [name_u]Evan[/name_u] & [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] as well!
Here are some other Celtic names! They all give me that friendly vibe!

I adore [name_u]Owen[/name_u]! I started noticing through naming characters that I’m so drawn to names that start with O and/or end with -n for boys, so it checks all the boxes for me.
I think [name_u]Evan[/name_u], and particularly [name_u]Rhys[/name_u], are more appealing. [name_u]Owen[/name_u] doesn’t have strong sounds, and, for me, has become just another 2 syllable n ending name.
I like [name_u]Owen[/name_u], but it is a little popular. I [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Evan[/name_u] and [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]. I’m a sucker for 4 letter names !
Thank you all! It’s good to get honest opinions. Sounds like most of you are in the same boat as me where [name_u]Owen[/name_u] is a little too popular but still charming. Though I appreciate those of you who are “over it,” too.
@shells15 [name_m]Oren[/name_m] isn’t exactly a sound I love, but those meanings are dreamy! Thank you for sharing!
@sophia_elena Thank you for this list! [name_u]Mack[/name_u] and [name_u]Rory[/name_u] are on my long list
Owen is nice! The only thing I’d mention is that I know quite a few girls named [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] if that is a factor for you I know it’s rising fast. But probably not an issue as starts with different letter.
I really like [name_u]Owen[/name_u]. It’s very popular, but I think that it has an old fashioned vibe too. I love how it’s gentle yet rugged & outdoorsy at the same time. I don’t necessarily get a Welsh feeling when I hear it, but it’s charming none the less.
It’s always been a steady favorite of mine and kept popping back up when I was name searching. Now it’s my own name and I think it’s timeless, although definitely popular at the moment. I do enjoy the variation of [name_m]Owyn[/name_m]!
