I suggested the name [name]Oscar[/name] to my husband and actually got a positive reaction! (a rare occurance.)
He was wondering if you can use [name]Ozzie[/name] as a nickname for [name]Oscar[/name] as this was his stepfather’s name who passed away and would mean a lot to his mother and him. We would use it as an occasional nickname not a name him [name]Oscar[/name] but call him [name]Ozzie[/name] thing.
Also what are other names that share the nickname [name]Ozzie[/name]? I could only think of [name]Oswald[/name] and I am not too keen on that.
My brother in laws name is [name]Oscar[/name] and he gets called Oski… so [name]Ozzie[/name] isnt a stretch! I say it would work!
Other names that could work are [name]Osborne[/name], [name]Ozias[/name]/[name]Osias[/name], [name]Osiris[/name], [name]Osmund[/name]/ [name]Osmen[/name], [name]Oswell[/name]
I like [name]Oscar[/name] though! [name]Osborne[/name] is kinda cute as surname type name!.. but then to call him ozzie is very… well “ozzie osborne!”
Go for it! [name]Oscar[/name] is a lovely name and the nickname certainly works. I know an [name]Oscar[/name] also called Ossi and co-workers used to call him Ozz as in the “[name]Wizard[/name] of…” whenever he thought of some clever solution to a problem.
I know an [name]Oscar[/name] irl (he is 3-4ish) who’s parents call hm [name]Ozzie[/name]. It’s really cute and fits him well. I also have a friend whose son is named [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Zion[/name] and they call him [name]Oz[/name] or [name]Ozzie[/name] as his nn too, so you could do a first and middle name where you could have the combination…not “the norm” with many people (“Why not call him [name]Ollie[/name]!!!”) but they get used to it.
Congratulations for the yes from your husband and I love [name]Oscar[/name] - if my sister hadn’t bagged it for her list, it would definitely be on mine! And [name]Ozzie[/name] is a natural nickname for [name]Oscar[/name] I think. Ozymandias might be taking [name]Ozzie[/name] a bit far but here are the ones I can think of that haven’t been suggested ([name]Joseph[/name] might work?):
[name]Osmond[/name]/[name]Osmund[/name]
Osiel/Oziel
Ostin (hmm, I slightly prefer [name]Austin[/name]/[name]Austen[/name], and I suppose [name]Ozzie[/name] could work for that too…)
Or these:
Ambroz
Amoz
Firoz
[name]Jozua[/name] (or just [name]Joshua[/name])
Rozen
Aatos
Adrastos
[name]Agoston[/name]/Agostos (perhaps [name]August[/name]? But that might not stem so naturally…)
Alexos/[name]Alexios[/name]
[name]Amos[/name]
Ambrosios
Blasios
[name]Boston[/name]
[name]Boswell[/name]
[name]Cadmos[/name] (like, but prefer [name]Cadmus[/name])
Costello
Costner
[name]Cosmo[/name]
[name]Delos[/name]
[name]Foster[/name]
[name]Helios[/name]
[name]Joss[/name]
[name]Josias[/name]
Linos
[name]Marcos[/name] (or [name]Marcus[/name])
[name]Milos[/name]
[name]Moss[/name]
Mosiah/[name]Moses[/name]
Mikos
[name]Prosper[/name]
[name]Rosco[/name]/[name]Roscoe[/name]
[name]Ross[/name]
[name]Tomos[/name] ([name]Thomas[/name])
[name]Titos[/name]
My favourites would be [name]Oscar[/name], [name]August/name or [name]Rosco[/name]/[name]Roscoe[/name]. Good luck!
Absolutely! I just saw the movie [name]Oz[/name] the Great and Powerful. The magician/wizard is named [name]Oz[/name], and I found out in the movie that his full first name is [name]Oscar[/name]. I never knew that!
