I cant find any helpful threads for this name, anywhere. Most people say they associate it with [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] or a pet. I personally love the name but our last name is Mosher… so I’m wondering how bizarre that would sound? My husband, playing in a metal band of course would love it but I worry… are there any middle names you can think of that would soften the name up and not make us sound like we are naming our child “[name_u]North[/name_u] [name_u]West[/name_u]” ??
Hmm, I’d say it would work better as a nickname - [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_m]Oswald[/name_m], [name_m]Oswin[/name_m] etc - because it sounds like you’ve got a rock tribute going on with your kid’s name otherwise. I know you can’t help your surname but Mosher’s very rock-associated, as is [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m]/[name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] with Mr [name_m]Osbourne[/name_m] so I’d try to at least give some sense of balance to the name - or maybe use [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] as the middle name instead if you want to keep it as is. You can call him [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] as much as you like but [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] Mosher is going to look that much more respectable as an adult than [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] Mosher and him having to explain it as “yes, my parents were big heavy metal fans” all the time.
I love [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m]! But, I have to agree that I think he’d be better as a nickname, especially with your surname. My favorite name(s) to get to [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] is [name_m]Ozias[/name_m]/[name_m]Osias[/name_m].
Hey! I agree that the name has better potential as a NN. [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] Mosher kind of sounds like a stage name. GL!
I don’t think it would be weird as a NN. I personally adore [name_m]Ozias[/name_m] nn. [name_m]Oz[/name_m]/[name_m]Ozzy[/name_m], it has more substance as a given, formal name I think. Plus, I don’t think that [name_m]Ozias[/name_m] Mosher sounds weird at all. Wasn’t there a gal on here whose last name was Couch? Now, HER options ended up being a bit more limited.
I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m]! I have it on my list as a nickname to [name_m]Orlando[/name_m]… I’m not really sure why, because they don’t really make sense, but I love [name_m]Orlando[/name_m] and [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] and it works in my mind (all hypothetical children for me for a while).
[name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] sounds great with your surname, too!
