Parents' evil dog had a great name”can I use it?

Over a decade ago, my parents had a terrible, violent dog named [name]Felix[/name]. They had him for only six months or so, but they still seem to think the name is tainted and can’t be used for a human child (especially their grandchild). Would they eventually get over it, or would it negatively impact their view of my child? Has anyone else had a similar problem?

On a related note, I’ve noticed that dog names tend to predict future baby name trends. I know older (8+ years) dogs named [name]Madeleine[/name], [name]Isabelle[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]Oscar[/name], [name]Lola[/name], [name]Pearl[/name], and [name]Hudson[/name]. It makes me think I should be looking at the names of new puppies as much as I pour over the SSA data!

I think your parents would get over the association. I cant imagine them having any bad feelings towards their grandson. I love the name [name]Felix[/name].

I think you are safe to use [name]Felix[/name] if you love it. Your parents will get over the horrid association with their terrible dog, as it will be replaced by a stronger association with your baby boy! Back in the day, my parents had this awful dog who ate cacti and jumped on tables - he was called [name]Mulligan[/name]. I see where your parents are coming from with worrying about [name]Felix[/name] on a child, but I’m sure you’ll be fine. Come to think of it, my parents would probably be concerned if I named my child [name]Mulligan[/name] for reasons other than the dog…

Oh, well. I think this post just got way off track. Sorry!

I wouldn’t use the name. There has to be something better, right?
